Chapter 234: Don't Slander Me
The more Ronan questioned, the more Milania trembled with fear.
Yet she managed to maintain a semblance of composure, secretly giving the man a look.
The man noticed but didn't dare respond, nor did he dare answer Ronan's questions.
"I'm talking to you! Didn't you hear?" Ronan's anger surged.
At that moment, Isaline suddenly said, "Could you be the famous hacker, W.L.?"
"You know him?" Ronan asked.
"I don't know him, but I studied computer science in college. One of my roommates was into hacking for a while, and her favorite was a top hacker with the code name W.L. She even somehow got hold of a blurry photo of him and showed it to me. He looks a lot like this guy."
After Isaline finished, Harrison said, "You're right. He is the top hacker, code name W.L., real name Wyatt Langley."
Wyatt was indeed very skilled, and finding him had taken Harrison quite some effort.
But Ronan wasn't too concerned about the hacker's identity. He only cared about why Wyatt had targeted Adeline.
Just then, Lorenzo coughed to silence them.
The room was suddenly filled with oppression.
Ronan, who had wanted to say something, obediently closed his mouth.
Lorenzo looked at Wyatt and said calmly, "Who's behind you?"
Wyatt glanced at Milania but quickly shifted his gaze away.
Swallowing hard, he said sincerely, "I'm sorry. I was drunk that night and just wanted to play a prank. The target was chosen at random. I didn't know it was Miss Hensley. After sobering up, I regretted it deeply. I apologize to Miss Hensley and am willing to compensate her."
Adeline smiled and said, "If that's true, I might have let it go. But your story is full of holes."
Wyatt froze, then stammered, "Everthing I said... is true."
"You seem to have forgotten that when you called me that night pretending to be someone else, you addressed me by name right from the start," Adeline said.
Wyatt's heart sank as he thought, "Damn, I have been so nervous that I forgot about that."
"And you impersonated the late Amber to scare me," Adeline continued. "If it had been just a random prank, you wouldn't have known my name, nor would you have pretended to be Amber."
Sweat started to form on Wyatt's forehead.
But he didn't dare wipe it away.
Lorenzo's cane lightly tapped the floor twice.
"This is your last chance," he said. "Tell us who's behind this, or I'll be forced to take stronger measures."
Wyatt finally cracked.
Breaking down, he said, "It... It was Milania. She ordered me to do it."
At that moment, Milania felt an overwhelming urge to kill him.
She had anticipated that he might eventually give her up.
But she hadn't expected him to confess so quickly.
He didn't even give her time to prepare.
When Wyatt mentioned "Milania," both Ashton and Ronan turned to her in shock.
Isaline also looked surprised.
But Ronan quickly recovered, his anger flaring even more, and he nearly stood up from his wheelchair. Fortunately, Isaline stopped him just in time.
His legs weren't fully healed yet. If he forced himself to stand, he would definitely fall.
"You're lying!" Ronan shouted angrily. "How dare you accuse my mother! You've got some nerve. “
"I'm not lying," Wyatt said. "Milania told me to do it. She said Adeline had offended her, so she wanted to teach her a lesson. She also told me to use Amber's name to scare Adeline. I didn't even know who Amber was. How would I know about Adeline and Amber's bad blood if Milania hadn't told me?"
Ronan's face turned pale, and he instinctively denied it, "You're a top hacker. Of course, you could have easily found out about Miss Hensley and Amber. Don't even think about slandering my mother."
After speaking, he looked to his father for support.
But Ashton was staring blankly at Milania.
In the past few days, he had indeed sensed something off about Milania, actually, not just these past few days.
In fact, there were moments before when Milania had seemed not quite right.
But they had been married for years, and he loved her and trusted her. Plus, he had always been busy with work, so he hadn't thought much about it.
Now, Wyatt claimed that everything he did was at Milania's behest.
Ashton didn't want to believe it, but those nagging doubts started surfacing, making him feel less sure.
"Dad, say something!" Ronan urged desperately.
He looked from Harrison to Lorenzo, panic evident on his face.
"Alright, calm down," Milania finally said.
After calming Ronan down, she turned to Wyatt and said, "I don't know why you're suddenly accusing me. Who sent you to slander me?"
Wyatt glared at her and said, "Milania, I took a huge risk to help you, and now you're trying to pin all the blame on me?"
"I never asked you to do anything like that," Milania said. "Everyone knows I get along well with Miss Hensley. What could she possibly have done to offend me? Besides, my son likes her a lot. I wouldn't hurt someone my son cares about."
Adeline looked at Milania and sighed internally, thinking, "Indeed, Milania has always put on a convincing act."
In the past, Adeline had never doubted Milania's kindness.
"Who else could it have been?" Wyatt grew agitated. "Milania, we've known each other for years."
"We've known each other for many years?"
Milania feigned confusion. "I don't recall that at all.”
At that point, Harrison said, "I've already looked into his background. He graduated from Marifort University, and Milania, you were his classmate. You were in the same year."
"Is that so?" Milania smiled lightly. "I had many classmates in my year. I can't be expected to remember them all. I honestly don't recall him."
"A man who pursued you for four years during college wouldn't be so easily forgotten, even after all these years," Harrison said.
Milania felt her scalp tingle. The thing she had feared most was now happening. Harrison had even uncovered events from so long ago.
If he had found out about Wyatt's pursuit of her in college, then he could have also uncovered her relationship with another man from back then.
