Chapter 189 :No Fooling Around
"Oh?" Lance's tone instantly became sharp.
"Which bitch dares to target you?"
"She's called Amber Lawson," Eleanor said.
"With her around, I definitely can't be happy working at the Thomson Group."
Lance sneered and said, "Alright, I understand. Don't worry. I won't let her bother you."
With that, Lance hung up the phone.
Eleanor smirked, satisfied as she watched the screen of her phone gradually dim.
She knew that once she told Lance, he would definitely help her.
After all, having been with Lance for years, she knew this man very well.
In Lance's eyes, she was his possession.
He could bully and mistreat his own possessions as he pleased, but no one else was allowed to.
With a pervert like Lance targeting Amber, Amber might as well wait for her doom.
Threatening Eleanor had its consequences.
Actually, Eleanor wanted Lance to deal with Adeline more.
But after thinking it over, she decided not to rush.
After all, Adeline was Harrison's chief secretary, and although Eleanor was unwilling to admit it, Adeline definitely held a place in Harrison's heart.
If something happened to Adeline, Harrison would not let it go easily.
It would be bad if he discovered anything.
But Amber was different.
Although she didn't know how Amber managed to get into the president's office at the Thomson Group, from Eleanor's observations, she felt that Harrison didn't care about Amber at all.
Since Amber had offended her now, Eleanor just let Lance deal with her properly.
Adeline walked into Harrison's office holding a cup of coffee.
After placing the coffee on the desk, she proceeded as usual, officially going through Harrison's schedule for the day.
Harrison watched her, silently sighing in his heart.
This was once his most valued "official business," but now, he felt so awkward.
After finishing today's schedule, Adeline asked, "Mr. Thomson, is there anything that needs to be changed?"
"No."
"Alright."
Adeline prepared to leave, but Harrison immediately got up and said, "You're leaving already?"
"Do you have any instructions?"
Harrison looked at her, his eyes showing a hint of grievance.
"Do you have to be so cold to me?"
Adeline nearly couldn't hold herself together.
How was she cold to him? She treated him like this every day.
But Adeline's tone softened when she said, "This is the office. It's still working hours, so let's not make a fuss."
Harrison rubbed his forehead with his hand.
He had never wanted to leave work this badly before.
But there was nothing he could do.
After more than twenty years of life, this was the • first time he had feelings for someone, the first time wanting to date.
So even Harrison, who was usually calm and composed, inevitably lost his bearings.
"Alright," he said helplessly.
"In the office, let's keep things as they were before," Adeline added. "No more fooling
around."
"Got it," Harrison replied obediently.
Adeline sighed in relief.
Then she heard Harrison ask, "Can we have lunch together later?"
She hesitated for a moment and said, "No. I think I'll go to the cafeteria for lunch."
Hearing this, Harrison didn't say anything further, and just nodded thoughtfully.
During the lunch break, Adeline went to the cafeteria with Anna.
As she was contemplating what to eat, she suddenly heard a commotion behind her.
She turned around and found Harrison.
Adeline was speechless and heard Anna's exclamation.
"Oh my god, Mr. Thomson is actually in the cafeteria? I've worked at the Thomson Group for years, and this is the first time I've seen him in the cafeteria."
Adeline sighed.
She hadn't expected Harrison to come here.
After all, she had already arranged lunch for him.
However, after Harrison arrived, he didn't look at her, as if he was just here to have a meal.
Others were buying food while secretly sneaking glances at Harrison.
For the employees who seldom saw Harrison, their eyes were almost glued to him.
But Harrison didn't seem to mind.
Once Adeline and Anna had bought their food. and found a table, Harrison quickly bought a meal himself and brought it over to their table.
"Is this seat taken?" he asked, standing next to the seat next to Adeline.
Adeline could only tell the truth. "No." So Harrison sat down next to Adeline.
Anna, who worked in the president's office and often saw Harrison, wasn't too nervous about sitting with him, but now she suddenly felt very awkward.
Anna felt like a third wheel.
She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but it didn't feel good.
So she quickly finished her meal and said, "Mr. Thomson, Ms. Hensley, I just remembered I have some urgent work to finish, so I'm leaving."
Adeline had only eaten half of her meal.
After Anna left, only Harrison and Adeline remained at the table.
"Why did you come here for lunch?" Adeline asked quietly.
"Coming here means I can have lunch with you," Harrison answered softly.
"But what about the lunch I arranged for you? Even with money, you shouldn't waste it like this."
Harrison smiled and said, "It's not a waste. Sam came to see me earlier, so I gave it to him."
Adeline was speechless.
In her mind, she pictured Sam eating lunch alone in the office, looking grumpy,"I think the food in the cafeteria tastes quite good," Harrison continued, "Looks like I'll have to come here more often."
Adeline pursed her lips, not wanting to point out the obvious.
Although the food in the cafeteria was indeed quite good, Harrison had taken all kinds of delicacies.
Noticing that Adeline didn't have a drink, Harrison said, "Aren't you thirsty? I'll go get you some soup."
Seeing that he was about to get up, Adeline quickly stopped him.
"Don't. I'm not thirsty. I'll drink some water when I get back."
If Harrison went to get soup for her and others saw, it wöuld cause quite a stir.
Since she said so, Harrison had to give up.
Anyway, he was happy to have lunch with Adeline.
In the afternoon, Daphne came in yawning.
When she saw Eleanor at the studio, she instinctively rolled her eyes.
Seeing Harrison gazing at her, Daphne restrained herself a bit and began arranging the photography equipment.
"Today is the last shoot," she said to Harrison. "If it's not done well today, you might need to find someone else."
Harrison nodded slightly and said, "Thank you for your hard work."
Eleanor, who had already finished her makeup and changed her clothes, heard Daphne's words.
And she knew that Daphne's words were not directed at Harrison but at her.
Eleanor had gotten so angry today that she felt somewhat numb.
