One night stand with my president (chapter 237)

Chapter 237: Appreciated

After a pause, Lorenzo added, "From the way Ashton looks right now, he still cares about her, and Ronan... After all, she is his mother."

If it had been during Lorenzo's younger years, he would have taken swift and decisive action against anyone threatening the family.

But now, with age catching up, though he still had his resolve, he was no longer as forceful as in his youth.

Lorenzo had to consider his sons and his grandsons.

"Grandfather, I'll continue investigating these matters," Harrison said. "When the truth comes to light, if Milania is truly involved, I won't show mercy. It's all for the sake of the Thomson family."

If possible, he would prefer to send Milania to prison immediately.

But he had to be mindful of Ashton's and Ronan's feelings.

Once all the evidence was laid before them, they would finally give up on Milania completely.

Lorenzo nodded and said, "I understand. Go ahead and do what you need to."

Ronan was his grandson, but so was Harrison.

If Milania truly orchestrated the arson at Harrison's hotel, it meant she intended to kill him.

Lorenzo would never tolerate such a person.

After finishing his words, Lorenzo turned to Adeline and said, "Miss Hensley, I'm sorry you had to go through this."

Adeline smiled gently and said, "It's not a big deal. I just hope that from now on, nothing like this happens to any of us."

"Good girl." Lorenzo looked at her with approval.

After talking to Lorenzo, Harrison and Adeline went to check on Myra.

It seemed that Myra's mood had been terrible lately, as she hadn't even come out to see them, despite everything that had happened.

Myra was sitting in the garden with a steaming pot of tea before her.

These past few days, only when she was drinking tea did she feel somewhat at peace.

This also gave her a clearer understanding of herself.

She used to think she was strong and capable.

After all, when her husband died in her younger years, she had managed to get through it.

But after this recent incident, Myra realized she wasn't as strong as she had thought.

When she heard footsteps, Myra didn't turn around and simply said, "I told you not to bother me. I'm not interested in Milania's affairs."

"But aren't you interested in your son's affairs?"

Harrison asked.

Myra was startled upon hearing Harrison's voice.

She turned and saw him and Adeline entering the garden.

At this point, Myra didn't have the energy to give Adeline her usual cold glare.

She merely sighed and asked, "Is everything resolved?"

"Not yet," Harrison replied. "When I was in Marifort City, someone deliberately set fire to the first hotel I stayed at. I suspect Milania is behind it, but we haven't found conclusive evidence yet."

"What did you say?" Myra was shocked. "It's connected to that incident?"

When the servants informed her earlier, they only mentioned that it was a matter involving Milania and Adeline, so Myra hadn't bothered to come down.

She hadn't expected it to be connected to Harrison.

"We've only found some clues so far, nothing certain yet," Harrison said, leading Adeline to sit with him.

Myra no longer cared about the closeness between the two of them.

Her mind was now entirely focused on the fact that Milania had dared to target her child.

"I always knew she wasn't a good person," Myra said angrily . "How dare she go so far against you. What, does she want her son to take your place?"

"Mom, this has nothing to do with Ronan," Harrison said calmly. "He's not that kind of person."

Myra thought about Ronan's innocent nature and realized Harrison had a point.

"So, what are you planning to do now?" Myra asked again.

"Continue investigating," Harrison replied. "Until we find concrete evidence or the true mastermind."

"Alright," Myra said with a stern expression.

"Looks like it's time for me to take a closer look at Milania."

With something to focus on, Myra temporarily put aside the online insults and accusations that had been weighing on her.

If Milania was indeed the mastermind

behind the fire, there was no way she would stop at this. If Milania got the chance in the future, she'd surely cause more trouble.

So, Harrison needed to gather evidence quickly.

After she spoke with Harrison, Myra's gaze shifted to Adeline.

"I heard Miss Hensley was targeted as well," she said. "But you seem to be doing fine now."

"Thank you for your concern," Adeline replied with a light smile, then took out a small box of tea leaves.

"This is a special calming tea I had someone purchase for me. It's said to be very effective. Please try it," Adeline said.

Myra's eyes flickered, showing a hint of hesitation.

But in the end, she reached out and took the box, saying flatly, "Thanks for your concern."

Harrison and Adeline exchanged a glance, both of them smiling subtly.

After all, Myra was Harrison's mother.

Adeline could never expect Harrison to sever ties with his own mother for her sake.

She wasn't trying to force a good relationship with Myra. She just wanted to show respect for the mother of the man she loved.

At the end of the day, Myra was different from Milania.

While Myra had always tried to drive her away from Harrison, she had never tried to take Adeline's life like Milania.

And now, it seemed Myra wasn't so resistant to Adeline anymore.

Perhaps recent events had caused a shift in Myra's attitude.

Meanwhile, at Ashton's villa, a heavy, oppressive atmosphere loomed.

Ronan, hearing from the servants that his parents had returned, immediately had Isaline wheel him into the living room.

"Dad, Mom, how did it go?" Ronan asked anxiously. "Have you figured out the truth? Was someone deliberately trying to frame Mom?"

Seeing Ashton's darkened face, Ronan knew the answer.

But he still hoped that his mother wasn't responsible for it.

"This isn't something you need to worry about," Ashton said, taking a deep breath.

"It's late now, and you haven't recovered yet. Go back to your room and rest."

"How could I possibly sleep with all this going on?" Ronan suddenly shouted in frustration.

Isaline, standing next to him, jumped in fright.

Ronan's chest was heaving, his eyes bloodshot as-he stared at Milania, filled with confusion.

He couldn't understand why his mother would do something like this.

Previously, when Milania had treated Isaline poorly, he hadn't agreed but could somewhat understand, considering Milania blamed Isaline for his condition.

"What has Adeline done wrong? She is the woman I love. And yet, my mother has plotted against her..." Ronan thought.

Milania felt uneasy seeing her son in this state.

She approached Ronan and gently touched his head.

“Ronan, let me explain, “she said softly.
