One night stand with my president (chapter 236)

Chapter 236: I cannot forgive You

Harrison knew Ashton was clearly trying to lay a guilt trip on Adeline.

He was basically putting Adeline on the spot.

Lorenzo had just said that they needed to clarify things, and Ashton immediately asked Adeline not to investigate further.

Whether Adeline chose to pursue it or not, it was a difficult situation for her.

Harrison could not allow Adeline to be placed in such a predicament.

Since that was the case, he would step in and be the "bad guy."

"Harrison, you..." Ashton was anxious but didn't know how to reason with Harrison.

Harrison then turned to Wyatt and said, "Go on."

"When Milania called me, I recorded the conversation," Wyatt said as he took out his phone. "If you doubt it, I can use any means to prove the recording is authentic. It's Milania's voice, no doubt about it."

Milania's eyes widened in shock.

Wyatt actually recorded their conversation.

She had been too confident to neglect this.

She thought Wyatt's abilities wouldn't get him caught.

And she believed that since Wyatt couldn't let go of her, even if they were discovered, he wouldn't betray her.

So, when she reached out to Wyatt, she hadn't been cautious enough.

But she hadn't expected Wyatt to be so useless.

"Milania, would you like to hear the recording?" Harrison asked coldly.

Milania clenched her teeth, quickly weighing her options.

When she called Wyatt, she had sweet-talked him into helping, even pretending that she had never let him go.

There was no way Ashton could know about that.

Right now, Ashton was her strongest supporter.

If Ashton continued to defend her, then Lorenzo and Harrison wouldn't be able to do much to her.

With that thought, Milania finally said, "No need to listen. It was me who instructed Wyatt to do it."

Even though he had already suspected the truth, hearing Milania confess made Ashton's face reveal a hint of sorrow.

"Milania, you..."

"Why did you do this?" Lorenzo asked, displeased.

Lorenzo had always doted on Adeline, so he was unhappy that she got hurt.

Lowering her gaze, Milania said, "Because Ronan likes Miss Hensley, and I didn't want them to be together, so I grew resentful toward her."

She couldn't very well admit it was because she believed Adeline had caught her in an affair and told Ronan, which led to her hatred.

After much thought, she decided to use

this excuse.

"This is ridiculous! Is it Miss Hensley's fault that Ronan fell for her? Instead of properly educating your son, you take it out on an innocent person?" Lorenzo said angrily.

"Yes, you're right. It's my fault." Milania lowered her head submissively. "I will reflect on this. Please forgive me, Miss Hensley."

"I'm sorry, but I cannot forgive you," Adeline said calmly. "Even though I'm fine now, you must know the malice in your heart when you ordered Wyatt to do those things."

"Then what do you want me to do?" Milania asked sincerely. "Whatever compensation you want, I'm willing to offer."

Adeline exchanged a glance with Harrison.

"That's not important right now," Harrison said. "I have another question for Milania."

Milania, who had thought the ordeal was coming to an end, felt her heart sink again.

"Go ahead," Milania said, forcing herself to remain composed.

"Do you know Collin Pruitt?" Harrison asked.

Milania's panic reached its peak, and if she weren't mentally strong, she might have collapsed by now.

Harrison had uncovered her relationship with Collin.

She knew denying it was useless, so she admitted, "Yes, I know him. He was my classmate in college. Why?"

"Recently, when I was in Marifort City, the hotel I stayed at was set on fire," Harrison said. "It was arson, and it was obvious that the fire was meant for me."

Even though the event was long past and Harrison was unharmed, as he spoke, Adeline still felt a lingering fear.

If that night Harrison hadn't gone out with her, she couldn't bear to think about the consequences.

"I've had people investigating in Marifort City ever since, and recently, my people found that the man behind the arson was Collin Pruitt.

He has some influence there," Harrison continued.

Ashton was even more shocked by this revelation.

He turned to Milania, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Wyatt and Collin, one was Milania's former admirer, and the other was her college classmate.

One had been ordered to harm Adeline, and the other had attempted to harm Harrison...

If Wyatt had acted on Milania's orders, what about Collin?

It was hard to believe Collin's actions were completely unrelated to Milania.

"Are you suggesting that Collin acted on my instructions too?" Milania laughed bitterly. "Did Collin tell you that?"

"No, he didn't," Harrison said. "Collin ran off when he realized we were closing in on him."

"Since he's fled, I can't clear my name," Milania said helplessly. "But I swear, I had

nothing to do with the arson. Harrison, I've known you since you were a child. I would never harm you."

"I won't jump to conclusions without solid evidence," Harrison said. "But until Collin is found, I'd like you to remain at the Thomson family. After all, you are a suspect."

If Milania had only known Collin, that might have been the end of it.

But given that she had instructed Wyatt to harm Adeline, anyone would find her highly suspicious of the arson.

"Understood." Milania nodded. "I will face the consequences of my actions. I know I'm responsible for what I did, so it's only natural that you suspect me. Once Collin is found, my innocence will be proven."

"And if it's not, Milania, we will settle these two matters together," Harrison said.

Milania's fist clenched tightly, though her face remained calm. "Of course."

Ashton had taken in too much information today.

He felt like he couldn't process it all.

"Dad, we'll head back to the villa now," Ashton said.

"Alright."

After Ashton and Milania left, Wyatt was also taken away.

Lorenzo sighed and said, "When Ashton insisted on marrying her, I always thought she wasn't as simple as she seemed. She had a gentle exterior, but you could see the calculation in her eyes. Yet Ashton was so adamant, I had no choice but to agree. She's kept quiet over the years, but I suppose trouble was bound to come sooner or later."
