Chapter 188: Destruction
But Eleanor didn't want to continue living like this.
If Amber stopped making demands after getting the money, that would be one thing.
But if Amber continued to use this matter to blackmail Eleanor after getting the money, then she shouldn't blame Eleanor for being ruthless.
At this moment, Amber arrived:
"Ms. Fraser, why are you here so early today?" Amber greeted her with a smile. "By the way, I've always enjoyed watching your movies. Now I finally have the chance to see you in person.
Could you please sign an autograph for me?"
Eleanor smiled pleasantly on the surface but was coldly mocking Amber inside.
Amber has good acting skills. She should be acting rather than wasting her talents.
Amber brought over paper and a pen.
Eleanor wanted to throw the paper and pen right in her face.
But in the end, she controlled herself, smiled, signed the autograph, and handed the paper and pen to Amber.
Amber bent down to receive it and then whispered in Eleanor's ear, in a tone only they could hear, "Come to the break room later."
After saying that, she straightened up as if nothing had happened and left.
The others in the president's office didn't notice anything unusual between them.
However, Adeline did because Anna had told her about the conversation between Amber and Eleanor yesterday.
So now Adeline had a vague sense of what was happening.
Adeline thought, "Is Amber blackmailing Eleanor?
If so, then she is seeking her own destruction."
Eleanor was no pushover.
Adeline frowned, thinking she should inform Harrison about this to avoid any trouble falling on him later.
After a while, Amber got up and headed to the break room.
Eleanor watched her back, wishing she could beat Amber.
She didn't dare go to the break room immediately, afraid of being noticed.
So she waited a while before heading to the break room.
During this time, she glanced toward Adeline.
She knew Adeline was not a simple person, so she was afraid Adeline might notice something.
However, Adeline was focused on her computer screen and didn't look at her at all.
Eleanor then felt relieved and hurried into the break room, quickly closing the door behind her.
Amber had already made herself a cup of coffee.
"Why did it take you so long to come?" Amber said, displeased. "I've been waiting for ages. Ms. Fraser, do you think I'll pamper you like others do?"
Eleanor kept a cold face and said, "If you can't wait for such a short time, how do you expect to get the money?"
Amber laughed and said, "You seem to have misunderstood. Now, it should be you begging me for the money. If I didn't have any demands, I'd immediately expose all your dirty secrets."
Eleanor, harboring resentment, could only swallow her anger.
She took out a bank card and handed it to Amber.
"Here's the 160 thousand dollars you wanted.
The password is on the back of the card."
Amber took it, inspected it carefully, and then smiled with satisfaction.
"I knew you wouldn't disappoint me."
"Since you've received the money, don't forget what you promised me," Eleanor said coldly. "If you dare to expose anything, I won't let you off."
"I'm so scared." Amber shrugged indifferently.
Her attitude made Eleanor even angrier.
She glared at Amber, made a decision in her mind, and then turned to leave.
Amber, on the other hand, happily looked at the bank card in her hand.
Amber thought, "Rich people are something.
I just got 160 thousand dollars so easily. I should have asked for more."
In the future, Eleanor would be her cash cow.
Maybe Amber could even blackmail her into doing other things.
After Eleanor left the break room, Harrison happened to arrive at the company.
She hesitated for a moment but still approached him.
Harrison had just gotten off the elevator and was searching for Adeline.
When he saw Adeline already at her desk, a smile appeared on his face.
Just as he was about to walk over, he suddenly heard a voice he didn't want to hear.
Eleanor said, "Harrison."
Harrison frowned, turned around, and saw Eleanor walking towards him.
"Why are you here so early?" Harrison asked lightly. "Daphne won't come until the afternoon."
Daphne usually slept until noon, and even
Harrison couldn't make her come to work in the morning.
"I didn't have anything else to do today, so l thought I'd come early to prepare. Harrison, I was at fault yesterday..."
"Let's not dwell on the past," Harrison said. "I'll have someone show you to the break room at the studio."
"No need," Eleanor quickly said. "I'll just stay in the president's office."
"The president's office is a working area."
Eleanor's face showed a hint of awkwardness.
"And if you don't go to the studio, how can you prepare in advance?"
Harrison's words were quite blunt.
Eleanor had no choice but to nod and force a smile. "Then I'll go to the studio first. Do you want to have lunch together?"
"No need," Harrison said. "I'll have someone prepare lunch and send it to you."
"Okay," Eleanor said with difficulty.
She then watched Harrison turn and leave.
She saw Harrison stop by Adeline's desk and say something to her.
Adeline nodded.
Only then did Harrison enter his office.
Although Eleanor knew he was probably talking about work, she clearly saw the
tenderness on his face when talking to Adeline.
Eleanor thought, "Harrison has never spoken to me like that. Why wasn't I the one receiving special treatment?"
Eleanor turned and saw Amber's mocking expression.
She felt her anger reach its peak.
As soon as she arrived in the break room at the studio, Eleanor dismissed everyone and took out her phone to call Lance.
She called three times before Lance finally answered.
"What's up?" His voice was drowsy and impatient.
Because Eleanor had offended him during their phone conversation yesterday, he had punished her severely last night, keeping her up until midnight.
Eleanor had gotten up early in the morning, while he was still tired.
"Darling, can you do me a favor?" Eleanor said in a sweet tone.
She hadn't used this tone with him for a long time.
Lance instantly perked up.
Sweetie, what do you need?"
"You know, I've been working with the Thomson Group recently, but ever since I came here, there's a woman who keeps targeting me, which has made me very unhappy."
