Chapter 184: Are You Closer to Him?
After finishing the noodles and paying the bill, Adeline and Harrison prepared to leave.
Adeline's gaze swept over the wish wall, feeling increasingly uneasy.
It seemed that ever since seeing the wish wall, Harrison had been acting strangely.
Adeline thought, "Has he seen the wishes I had written years ago?"
But even Adeline herself might not be able to find those old wishes quickly, so how could Harrison have found them and recognized her handwriting?
After leaving the noodle shop, Harrison said,
"Get in the car. I'll take you home."
Adeline hesitated and replied, "No need. I'll go back by myself."
"You can ride with Russell but not with me?" Harrison's expression darkened. "What, are you closer to him than to me?"
Adeline replied helplessly, "Why do you still remember that?"
"It was just a few days ago. Of course I remember," Harrison said with a stern face.
"I haven't even seen you for a morning, and you're already with him."
"We just happened to run into each other,"
Adeline explained.
Harrison actually believed her.
But thinking about the scene of Adeline getting out of Russell's car made him uncomfortable.
He couldn't help but say, "How come you run into him so many times?"
"How would I know?" Adeline said helplessly.
"Besides, it doesn't seem like it's been that many times."
Harrison was silent for a moment and decided not to pursue the topic further. He said again, "Get in the car. I'll take you home."
Adeline stopped refusing.
In fact, she wanted to spend a little more time with Harrison.
Even if it was just thirty minutes on the way back, she wanted that.
They got into the car, and Harrison provided the address.
The driver immediately started driving toward Adeline's place.
Once in the car, they both fell into silence.
Adeline was feeling the effects of the alcohol she had drunk earlier. Even though she had eaten a bowl of noodles, sitting in the car made her drowsy.
In her hazy state, she heard Harrison answer a phone call.
It was Myra calling.
"Harrison, where are you?"
Harrison glanced at Adeline, who was sitting beside him with her eyes closed, and, concerned that she might be asleep, lowered his voice, "I'm in the car."
Myra quickly sensed something was off and asked, "Why is your voice so low? Who are you with?"
"Mom, l'm an adult. It's my freedom who I'm with," Harrison said in a serious tone.
Myra asked with displeasure, "Could it be that you're with Ms. Hensley? You know I..."
"Mom."
"Alright, let's not talk about that. The reason I'm calling is to tell you that I met a lady with a friend today who I think would be perfect for you. If you have time, you should meet her."
Harrison replied flatly, "I'm not interested, Mom. Don't arrange such things for me in the future."
Myra was silent for a moment before saying, "I know. I made a poor choice last time, but this time, I'm sure she's a great match for you."
"Who's a good match for me is something only I know."
"Are you talking about Ms. Hensley?" Myra's
tone became slightly agitated. "What. are you thinking? You and she are from completely different worlds. It's impossible for you to be together. I'm telling you now. I won't agree with you being with her."
