Chapter 183: Could It Be Him?
The owner had already served two servings of noodles..
Adeline offered Harrison a knife, but he didn't take it. When she looked up, she found Harrison lost in thought.
"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline called out in confusion.
"What are you thinking about?"
Harrison snapped back to reality, took the knife, and gazed at her with a distant look.
"Didn't I say you can call me by my first name in private?"
Adeline paused, then lowered her head and silently began eating.
Although Harrison was a bit hungry, he had completely lost his appetite.
He was preoccupied with the thought that the person Adeline liked might be Russell.
But that didn't make sense. A few years ago, the Thomson Group and the Hunter Group hadn't yet collaborated, so Adeline shouldn't have known him then, let alone saw him every day.
Harrison had a vague idea in his mind, "So, could the person Adeline liked be me?"
This idea seemed somewhat absurd.
Considering how Adeline had been over the years, it was hard for him to believe she had been interested in him since a few years ago.
He remembered she was nervous around him back then.
Then, she had always maintained a formal and businesslike attitude.
Only recently had they grown closer.
It was hard for him to think that Adeline might have liked him for years.
Adeline noticed Harrison wasn't eating much and asked, "Is something wrong with the food? Do you want me to order something else?"
"No, it's fine." Harrison shook his head. "I want to ask you..."
He trailed off abruptly.
"Hmm?" Adeline looked at him in confusion.
"Never mind."
Harrison had instinctively wanted to ask her about the person she liked, as mentioned in the note.
But he realized that since she was denying even writing on the wish wall, she would certainly not be honest about it.
"You're acting strange," Adeline said, looking at him suspiciously.
After working with Harrison for so many years, she knew him well.
Harrison remained silent for a moment before asking, "Who are you closest to in the office?"
He added, "Including those who have left the company."
Adeline was puzzled.
She didn't know why Harrison was asking this all of a sudden.
She thought for a moment and said, "I'm quite close with Anna, Aurora, and Estella. As for those who have left, I don't have much contact with them anymore."
All three people she mentioned were women.
Harrison's heart raced faster.
"You mentioned only women. Are there any men you were close to?" Harrison asked, trying to sound calm.
Adeline became even more concerned.
"No," she replied.
That was the truth.
She had only had simple colleague relationships with the male employees in the president's office.
Over the past five years, some male colleagues had shown interest in her, but she had politely declined them, and they didn't pursue her further.
Harrison looked at her and could tell she wasn't lying.
Harrison thought, "So, could the person on the note be me? Has she liked me for years?" This new discovery made Harrison's heart flutter.
She had liked him so early on.
But soon, Harrison felt regret.
If he had realized his feelings for her sooner, would their relationship be completely different now?
Adeline watched as Harrison's expression changed repeatedly, feeling puzzled.
How did a simple meal turn into such a tangled mess?
