Chapter 177: who Else But Adeline?

"Don't panic just yet. I had someone look into it. Harrison's secretary was supposed to be on her way to the airport at that time because she had a flight scheduled around then," the person on the phone said. 

"The route from their hotel to the airport would have taken them past the bar, so l believe the person in that car was likely Harrison's secretary."

"You mean, Adeline?" Milania's expression turned terrifyingly grim.

"I think that's her name."

Milania clenched her fists tightly and thought, "Adeline... It was her."

Harrison's secretary, in Marifort City, on her way to the airport, who else could it be but Adeline?

Milania thought, "It must be Adeline who saw me and then told Ronan. I have been so polite to her before, and now she dared to betray me."

"Alright, I understand."

Milania was about to hang up when the person on the other end asked, "Babe, will I get to see you today?"

"No," Milania immediately replied. "My son is already suspicious of me. If I don't lay low, hell definitely find out. I need to stay with him at the hospital."

"Your son is more important than me?"

A flash of disgust crossed Milania's face.

Milania thought, "You're just a lackey I used to get things done, and you dared to compare yourself to my son? That was ridiculous."

"Alright, be good. I'm doing this for our future happiness, you know. If the Thomson family finds out about us, you know what will happen, right?" Milania said.

Milania suppressed her revulsion and patiently placated the man on the other end before returning to Ronan's hospital room.

But as she stood at the door, she hesitated.

She wanted to get rid of Adeline right away.

But on the one hand, keeping Adeline alive might give her a chance to control Harrison in the future.

On the other hand, Ronan genuinely liked Adeline. If Milania did something to Adeline and Ronan found out, it would damage their relationship.

But if Milania didn't eliminate Adeline, she was certain that Adeline would ruin her plans someday...

Adeline had no idea she had become Milania's target.

After returning home, she received a call from Joyce.

"Adeline, come hang out at my friend's bar," Joyce said. "Don't worry, it's a nice place. No sketchy people will bother you."

Adeline had a face that drew attention.

Whenever Joyce had invited her to a bar before, men would always hit on Adeline, and some would even harass her.

But this time, since it was her friend's bar, Joyce felt at ease.

Adeline initially didn't want to go, but then she remembered Joyce had mentioned telling Adeline about the person she liked when Adeline returned.

It was her best friend's love life, after all, so Adeline decided she should care about it.

"Alright, I'll come over later," Adeline said.

"And wear that dress I gave you," Joyce said.

"You've hardly worn it since I gave it to you."

Adeline smiled wryly. "Is that necessary?"

"Of course! You can't go to a bar dressed in business attire. Trust me. But it's cold outside, so add a coat."

Adeline sighed and agreed.

The dress Joyce had given her was a red gown, which added a touch of allure and sensuality to her appearance.

Since she was changing, Adeline decided to put on light makeup and let her slightly curled long hair flow down her back.

If she was going out to have fun, she might as well enjoy the night.

When she arrived at the bar Joyce mentioned, Adeline saw Joyce already waiting for her at the entrance.

Joyce's eyes lit up when she saw Adeline.

"I knew it! My taste is spot-on. Adeline, you look absolutely stunning today. Oh, I almost don't want anyone else to see you."
