Chapter 166: Make Another Cup
Eleanor's collaboration with the Thomson Group is highly valued, so every step requires confirmation from the President's Office.
Adeline glanced at it and said, "No problem. I'll show it to Mr. Thomson when he arrives."
"Okay."
After Anna acknowledged, she looked at Adeline worriedly and asked, "Ms. Hensley, did you not sleep well last night?"
Adeline hadn't slept all night yesterday.
Although she had applied light makeup before coming to the company, she couldn't hide her fatigue.
"I just came back from Marifort City last night, so I didn't sleep well. It's alright," Adeline smiled.
Anna said, "Actually, you could have taken a day off and come later. Mr. Thomson wouldn't have objected."
Adeline didn't say anything, just shook her head slightly.
Of course, she knew she could take a rest.
Harrison didn't object to her staying in Marifort City, so even if she didn't come to work today, it wouldn't matter.
But she thought she'd better come to work.
She wanted to do more work before leaving, fulfilling her final responsibilities.
Just then, footsteps approached.
Adeline looked up.
Harrison was coming.
Just as she looked up, Harrison happened to be looking at her too.
The two met eyes, and Adeline clearly felt a slight pang in her heart.
When he saw her, there seemed to be a trace of surprise in Harrison's eyes.
But soon, he looked away.
"Good morning, Mr. Thomson."
"Good morning, Mr. Thomson."
Nearby colleagues greeted Harrison one after another.
Harrison used to nod in response, but today he had a cold expression and walked straight into his office.
Anna couldn't help but shiver.
Other colleagues were also nervous.
"It seems that Mr. Thomson's mood isn't very good today."
"Didn't Mr. Thomson rush back from Marifort City specifically for Eleanor? He hasn't come to the company these past few days. Could he have quarreled with her again?"
The President's Office had previously seen gossip news of Harrison dining with Eleanor.
However, they didn't know that Harrison had returned to Marifort City that day.
They thought he had been with Eleanor these past two days.
"Stop gossiping and get back to work," Adeline said calmly.
When she spoke, no one dared to say anything more and returned to their respective positions.
Adeline had just stood up to prepare coffee when Amber arrived.
She was all smiles, completely different from her downcast appearance when Harrison had sent her back.
When she saw Adeline, she raised her eyebrows provocatively.
"Oh, Ms. Hensley is back too. I thought Ms.
Hensley would take a few days off in Marifort City. After all, Mr. Hunter is still there. And you actually left Marifort City?"
Adeline glanced at her and said, "If you envy it, you can apply to Mr. Thomson now to go on a business trip to Marifort City for a few days. I think Mr. Thomson would agree."
"Ms. Hensley, why would I go to Marifort City?" Amber said.
"You keep talking about Marifort City. I thought you had some special feelings for that place," Adeline said, "Or maybe something unforgettable happened there."
Amber's face changed suddenly.
Adeline's words reminded her of the night she had been shut out by Harrison.
And she had been sent back that night.
If it hadn't been for Myra, Amber wouldn't have another chance to get close to Harrison.
Amber gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, "Is it necessary to mock me with this?"
Adeline smirked coldly, "If you didn't act up in front of me, wouldn't have bothered to mock you."
With that, Adeline ignored her and walked towards the pantry.
Amber returned to her seat crestfallen, taking a deep breath.
She was becoming more and more impatient.
This wasn't going well; Initially, she had wanted to establish a good relationship with Adeline.
But later, she couldn't restrain her ambitions.
If this continued, it would be disastrous.
Adeline made a hand-brewed coffee and took the documents to Harrison's office.
He was already sitting at his desk, looking at the computer screen in front of him, his right hand gripping the mouse.
She had seen this scene countless times five years ago.
But now, she suddenly felt that Harrison was far away from her.
She walked up to the desk, placed the coffee down, and then handed the documents to Harrison.
"Mr. Thomson, these are the details for Ms.
Fraser's endorsement photoshoot today. Please review," Adeline said.
Harrison took the documents expressionlessly, glanced through them, and said, "No problem."
After a pause, he added, "She had been dieting too much before and had a bit of hypoglycemia. Take note."
"Okay," Adeline said, lowering her gaze.
After waiting for a few more seconds and seeing no intention from Harrison to say anything else, she turned around to leave.
However, as soon as she turned around, she heard Harrison's voice.
"The coffee is too sweet," he said. "Make another cup."
Adeline was somewhat surprised.
She had made the coffee the same way as before without any mistakes, so how could it be too sweet?
But since Harrison said so, Adeline had no objections and simply said, "Okay."
Harrison watched her leaving figure, lost in thought for a moment.
After a while, Adeline returned with a new cup of coffee.
Harrison took a sip and frowned slightly.
Adeline thought he was dissatisfied again.
But he didn't say anything, just calmly said, "You may leave."
Adeline breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave.
However, this was just the beginning.
Throughout the morning, Harrison found countless reasons to have her enter his office, whether it was for this document or that information, or to brew coffee or tea.
Adeline felt busier than she had in five years.
At one point, she suspected that Harrison was deliberately messing with her.
But according to Harrison's personality, it didn't seem like something he would do.
And every time she entered his office, Harrison looked serious and focused.
Adeline thought she might be overthinking it.
It wasn't until lunchtime that Adeline finally had a break.
She ordered lunch for Harrison.
After the lunch was delivered, she brought it into his office.
Harrison usually ate at the coffee table.
After setting out the meal item by item, she was about to leave.
At this moment, Harrison suddenly asked her, "Why did you come back?"
Adeline paused.
After a moment, she said, "There's nothing much to do in Marifort City, so I came back."
"Is that so?" Harrison smiled meaningfully, "Isn't Russell also in Marifort City?"
