Chapter 168: Uncovering a Shocking Secret
After saying this, Eleanor was startled in her heart and immediately regretted it.
She realized she had spoken out of turn.
Saying such things to Lance was undoubtedly provoking him.
Sure enough, upon hearing her words, Lance let out a cold laugh and then hung up the phone directly.
Even though he didn't say anything, she could feel his anger.
Eleanor was terrified and quickly dialed him back.
However, Lance did not answer her call.
Eleanor was extremely anxious, her face pale.
What should she do?
It seemed Lance was truly angry.
Would he come directly to the Thomson Group?
Eleanor's first reaction was to hurry back and placate him.
But the agreed time to take the spokesperson photos was half past one in the afternoon, and it was already past twelve now. Rushing back and forth would definitely not make it in time.
Eleanor walked out of the pantry anxiously.
As soon as she opened the door, she was startled because a woman was leaning against the wall next to the pantry door playing with her phone.
She took a closer look.
It was actually Amber.
"What are you doing here?" Eleanor asked in an unfriendly tone.
Amber smiled and said, "Ms. Fraser, your question sounds strange. This is the Thomson Group, I am an employee of the Thomson Group, and the pantry is a public area. Why can't I be here? On the other hand, Ms. Fraser, why are you sneaking around in the pantry and even locking the door? What are you up to?"
Seeing her like this, Eleanor felt a bit panicked.
Did Amber overhear the contents of her phone call just now?
Eleanor pretended to be calm, flicked her hair, and said, "You also know about my relationship with Harrison. In the future, I will be Mrs. Thomson. This is just a pantry. Can't I stay here?"
Just as she finished speaking, she heard Amber chuckle.
"Mrs. Thomson? Don't joke around. You and the Thomson Group only have a cooperative relationship, right? Moreover, would a noble lady use improper means to become famous?"
Eleanor tightened her fingers suddenly, a trace of fear flashing in her eyes.
Amber had indeed heard it.
"I wonder who made you famous abroad? If it was a man, then what you gave him in return for making you famous?"
As she said this, Amber's eyes were filled with mockery.
Eleanor trembled slightly with fear.
She wished she could rush over and tear Amber's mouth to shreds right away.
"I warn you, don't talk nonsense!" Eleanor scolded angrily, "Do you believe I'll sue you for slander?"
"Sue me. But I'm not very careful with my words. You go ahead and sue me, and right after, I will go tell Mr. Thomson about all your secrets, word by word."
Compared to Eleanor's excitement and anger, Amber appeared calm. After all, she now held Eleanor's weak spot. Between the two of them, Amber was the one in control.
"Do you have evidence?"
"I don't, but for something like this, with a little effort, it can definitely be found out, right? If I tell Mr. Thomson and he investigates, what do you think will happen? Right now, Mr. Thomson doesn't know because he hasn't thought that way or sent anyone to investigate."
Amber had just happened to arrive at the pantry and heard Eleanor's phone call, so she hadn't had time to record.
Eleanor's heart tightened.
She had to admit that Amber was right.
"What do you want?" Eleanor gritted her teeth.
"Well, I haven't decided yet." Mimicking Eleanor's earlier manner, Amber flicked her hair and said, "Rest assured, as long as you don't provoke me, l won't tell Mr. Thomson about your secrets for the time being."
Although she said so, Eleanor felt no relief in her heart because she knew very well that Amber intended to use this leverage.
Amber smiled brightly at her and then turned and left.
"Wait!"
Eleanor wanted to catch up, but her feet seemed rooted to the ground, unable to move. She could only watch Amber walk away.
Neither of them noticed that in another unobserved corner, Anna was standing there, having heard their entire conversation.
Anna felt she had hit the jackpot and couldn't wait to share it with someone.
But she also felt that this matter was significant and couldn't be casually mentioned. After thinking it over, she sneakily ran up to Adeline.
Adeline had just finished lunch and saw Anna approaching her. She asked, "What's the matter?"
"Ms. Hensley, I've just stumbled upon a shocking secret!" Anna whispered excitedly.
Her excitement couldn't be concealed from her face.
"What secret? You look so happy," Adeline chuckled at her.
"I'm a bit tired and couldn't sleep. I was just going to the pantry to get a cup of coffee, but unexpectedly I overheard Amber and Eleanor talking."
As soon as she mentioned these two names,
Adeline immediately became serious.
"What did they say?"
"Actually, I didn't intend to eavesdrop, but just as I was about to leave, I heard the contents of their conversation were so sensational....” Anna vividly recounted everything she had just heard to Adeline.
After she listened to Anna, Adeline's heart relaxed slightly.
So Eleanor and Amber weren't plotting against anyone.
But it still involved Harrison.
Adeline furrowed her brows slightly.
Amber was indeed using Harrison to blackmail Eleanor.
What would Amber do next?
"Ms. Hensley, who do you think was the person who made Eleanor famous abroad?"
They were not familiar with the situation abroad, so they naturally couldn't figure out who it might be.
Adeline hadn't expected Eleanor to be so famous abroad and to achieve fame through such means.
In the entertainment industry, it wasn't uncommon for someone to boost a star's career, but Eleanor's reaction, fearing Harrison finding out, indicated that their relationship wasn't normal.
However, Adeline didn't care about Eleanor's affairs or her fame, as long as they didn't affect people who shouldn't be involved.
And if Eleanor caused trouble in the future, perhaps this incident could be a clue.
"I don't know either. Don't speculate randomly.
By the way, don't tell anyone about this matter,"!Adeline cautioned.
Eleanor wasn't a kind person.
Adeline was worried that if Anna told others and Eleanor found out, she would harm Anna.
"You can rest assured. Eleanor is a big star and Mr. Thomson's beloved. I dare not talk about her affairs everywhere. I'll only tell you. Otherwise, I'll be suffocated keeping it to myself."
Anna wasn't someone who didn't know the severity of things. Adeline trusted her.
