Chapter 142: He’s a Man Now
"Of course." Ronan felt Milania's question was quite strange. "Ms. Hensley is Harrison's secretary. She came to Marifort City with Harrison for business, so naturally, they would be together."
"Oh," Milania responded. "But from what I know, this trip to Marifort City isn't for any major business. They should be done with their discussions by now."
Ronan frowned, saying, "Then maybe they have something else to do. Mom, why are you acting strange today?"
"Can't I just care about you?" Milania scolded, "You are my son, and Harrison is someone I've watched grow up since childhood. Now that you're both out of town, can I not worry?"
Ronan chuckled, "It's just a business trip to Marifort City. Besides, we're all grown up now, so you don't need to worry."
"Hmm, when are you coming back?"
"I don't know. Depends on the situation," Ronan said.
"Wear warm clothes over there. Don't catch a cold, eat well, and don't go out alone. Be careful of dangers." Milania went on and on, leaving Ronan with no choice but to smile helplessly.
It seemed no matter how old Ronan grew, in Milania's eyes, he would always be a child.
After finishing the call with Milania, Ronan thought for a moment and then sent a message to Adeline, [Adeline, have you had dinner? Want to eat together tonight?]
After returning to her room, Adeline went straight to the bathroom ta take a shower.
Once she was done showering and drying her hair, she picked up her phone and saw Ronan's message.
She had spent the whole day playing and wasn't really in the mood to go out for dinner now. She was thinking of how to politely decline Ronan when she heard a knock on her room door.
"Who is it?" Adeline called out.
"It's me."
The voice was all too familiar. It was Harrison.
"Just a moment!"
Adeline hurriedly changed out of her bathrobe into casual wear, then went to open the door.
Harrison stood at the door with several food containers in his hand.
"Mr. Thomson, why did you come over?" Adeline asked.
Harrison narrowed his eyes.
"What did you just call me?"
Adeline choked for a moment and had to rephrase. "Harrison."
"Get used to it sooner," Harrison walked into the room as he said.
"But what if I get used to calling you by your name and accidentally do it in a formal setting?"
Adeline asked worriedly.
Harrison placed the food containers on the table and chuckled.
"If you get used to it, just call me that. I don't mind. Who else would?" Harrison said.
Adeline realized he had a point.
"If you're not used to it, try calling me twice a day," Harrison said.
"No need for that," Adeline dryly replied.
Harrison wanted to tousle her hair.
But he held back and instead opened the food containers, saying, "Let's eat."
Adeline saw that the containers were filled with local specialties from Marifort City.
"Knowing you're tired, I didn't take you out for dinner, but I'm worried you might get hungry later," Harrison said.
Adeline's appetite gradually returned as she smelled the aroma of the snacks.
Since when had Harrison become so considerate?
"Thank you," Adeline said.
The two sat down at the table. Adeline suddenly remembered Ronan's message and quickly reached for her phone.
"What's wrong?" Harrison asked.
"Mr. Ronan just messaged asking if I've had dinner and if I want to eat with him," Adeline honestly replied. "He probably hasn't eaten yet. Should we invite him over to join us?"
Harrison frowned, saying, "No need. Let him find something to eat on his own."
Adeline was speechless.
She thought for a moment and sent a message back to Ronan, [Thank you, Mr. Ronan, for your kind offer, but l've already eaten.]
But Ronan clearly wasn't giving up yet and sent another message, [How about we go out for a walk together? I heard Marifort City boasts a great night market street.]
Adeline sighed helplessly, about to decline when suddenly a hand reached over and took her phone.
She was stunned and looked up to see Harrison sending a voice message, [If you want to go, go by yourself.]
After sending the message, he handed Adeline's phone back.
His expression didn't look too good.
Adeline thought for a moment and said, "Mr.
Ronan is just a kid."
"He's graduated from college, and he's still a kid?" Harrison sneered. "He's a man now."
And obviously, he was a man who was interested in Adeline.
Harrison didn't know when Ronan had developed feelings for Adeline.
Fortunately, Adeline didn't seem to have any feelings for Ronan.
Hearing this, Adeline didn't say anything more.
They were brothers after all, and it wasn't her place to intervene. If she said too much, Harrison might misunderstand her feelings for Ronan.
Ronan didn't reply after that. It seemed Harrison's voice message had left him in a state of shock.
Harrison handed a knife and a fork to Adeline.
"Eat while it's hot," Harrison said.
"Thank you," Adeline said.
Just as Adeline took the knife and fork; Harrison got out of two cans of cola.
"Why do we have cola again?" Adeline looked at him in surprise and said, "Didn't we agree last time."
"Last time we agreed that you'd drink less cola and I'd drink less alcohol, not that we wouldn't drink at all." Harrison grinned, "Today, I'll allow you to have one can.”
Adeline happily took a can of cola and opened it, After taking a sip, she asked, "Since you're allowing me one can today, does that mean the other can is for me to drink tomorrow?"
"You're thinking too much," Harrison said expressionlessly.
After saying that, he opened the other can of cola.
"I'll drink this one."
"You're drinking cola?" Adeline widened her eyes in surprise.
Harrison was drinking something like cola?
"Yes, suddenly I think cola tastes pretty good," he said.
Adeline thought for a moment and said, "In that case, should I have some wine to reciprocate?"
Harrison suddenly found something amusing in her words and couldn't help laughing.
Adeline joined in the laughter.
They were enjoying themselves, but in Ronan's room, there was silence.
Since hearing Harrison's voice message, he had been in a state of utter despair.
He had come to Marifort City just for Adeline.
He had thought that in Marifort City, he could spend more time with Adeline under the pretext of going out for meals or sightseeing.
But he hadn't expected to receive such a blow as soon as he arrived.
Harrison had used Adeline's phone to send the voice message, indicating that they were together now.
