Chapter 146: Why Are You Here?
A gentle breeze blew, bringing a hint of winter chill.
Ronan didn't feel cold, though.
He would feel relieved as long as Adeline was by his side.
While Adeline was silently standing by the lake, he took a photo of her from behind.
Then, he posted the photo on Instagram, visible only to Harrison.
He knew very well that his behavior was somewhat despicable, but he felt that using some tricks to pursue the person he liked was acceptable.
Not long after Ronan posted on Instagram, Harrison saw it.
He silently opened the photo and looked at
Adeline's back.
For some reason, he saw a hint of sadness in her back.
His thumb gently brushed the phone screen.
Sitting opposite him, Eleanor awkwardly asked, "Harrison, what are you looking at so intently?"
After Harrison made the phone call earlier, she didn't dare speak much, because anyone could see that he was in a bad mood.
But she couldn't hold back after being ignored for so long.
This would be the last time she could use that clue to get Harrison to agree to a small request.
In the future, she didn't know how much effort she'd have to make to see him again.
Harrison ignored her and continued looking at the photo on his phone.
Previously, he had promised to take her around Marifort City.
But now, the person beside her was Ronan.
It was his fault.
Back then, she had asked him if he could stay.
"Harrison?" Eleanor called out to him again.
Harrison locked his phone and looked up at her, saying, "Finished eating?"
Eleanor wanted to say she hadn't finished, but she couldn't eat anymore.
She usually controlled her diet, and today, to spend more time with Harrison, she ate things she usually wouldn't.
Now, even if she didn't care about her weight, she couldn't eat anymore.
"Yes." Eleanor nodded.
Then she immediately said, "Harrison, could you stay with me a little longer?"
"I have something to do," Harrison said indifferently. "I've already had the bill settled, I'm leaving."
"Harrison!"
Seeing Harrison stand up, Eleanor quickly stood up and grabbed his sleeve.
Harrison frowned slightly and said, "Let go."
"Harrison, just stay a little longer, just a little. You know, my feelings for you have never changed from five years ago until now.
Can't you see how deeply I feel for you?" Eleanor said.
"That has nothing to do with me." Harrison was already struggling to hold back his impatience.
"Eleanor, our deal is over."
It was as if a knife had plunged straight into Eleanor's heart, causing intense pain.
What she had fallen for was just a transaction to him.
"Let go," Harrison said again.
Eleanor tried to calm herself down.
There might still be paparazzi hiding nearby.
She couldn't let them capture anything bad.
She forced a smile and said to Harrison, "Well, see you next time, Harrison."
As soon as she let go of Harrison's sleeve, he left immediately.
His figure gradually disappeared from her sight.
Eleanor, trying to stay composed, sat back down.
After playing with her phone for a while, she picked up her bag, put on a mask and sunglasses, and left.
When she got to the restaurant door, she remembered she thought Harrison would send her home, so she hadn't arranged for her driver to pick her up.
Annoyed, she took out her phone and called her assistant.
Her assistant, not daring to delay, brought the driver and parked the car in front of her within twenty minutes.
However, once Eleanor got in the car, she scolded her assistant.
"So slow, what were you doing? Are you trying to get me photographed by the paparazzi? I pay you so much money, and this is how you do your job?"
The assistant felt wronged. Before leaving,
Eleanor had said they didn't need to pick her up.
When she suddenly called, the assistant had already driven over as quickly as possible, but still, she had to become the outlet for Eleanor's emotions.
She felt wronged but didn't dare to speak out, silently enduring.
Eleanor, full of anger, returned home. She told her assistant not to let anyone disturb her and stormed back to her room.
However, as soon as she entered, all the color drained from her face.
On the sofa in her bedroom sat a young man.
Judging by his looks, he seemed to be of mixed race.
Eleanor stared at him, starting to tremble.
"My darling, we haven't met for long." The man curled his lips evilly. "Why are you reacting like this when you saw me? Shouldn't you be overjoyed to welcome me?"
Eleanor took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice calm as she said, "Why are you here? When did you arrive? Why didn't you let me know so l could pick you up."
The man chuckled and stood up from the sofa, slowly walking towards Eleanor.
Eleanor felt her legs go weak. She had to lean against the door to barely stand.
The man had already walked up to her.
He slowly raised his hand.
She thought he was going to touch her face, but he suddenly yanked her hair fiercely.
"Ah!" Eleanor screamed.
"Shh, darling, don't shout so loudly, Are you trying to attract everyone here?" The man leaned close to her face and asked, "And then have them find that man to save you, right?"
Eleanor trembled and asked, "Who... Who are you talking about? I don't understand."
"You don't understand? Alright, let me remind you. Harrison, of course," the man whispered in her ear, in a voice like sweet talk but full of malice.
Eleanor closed her eyes in despair.
So, he knew.
It was true, she had often appeared high-profile with Harrison in the domestic news lately. Even if the man was abroad, it wouldn't be difficult for him to find out.
But she thought he had grown tired of her and wouldn't care about her anymore. She didn't expect him to come back to the country.
And normally, he should be wary of the Thomson family's power.
But she forgot, this man was a lunatic. He didn't follow normal logic.
Forced into a corner, Eleanor began to use her acting skills..
"Listen to me, with Harrison, it was just for show." She forced a smile as she explained, "I just returned to the country and needed the Thomson family's support, so I created a buzz with Harrison. It was all for my career."
The man said, "That's why I told you not to come back here. I could always keep you thriving in Mugroaton's entertainment industry, but you wouldn't listen."
