One night stand with my president(chapter 132)

Chapter 132: They can’t do without him

Adeline collapsed onto the bed and quickly fell asleep.

Fortunately, she had set an alarm and had a regular biological clock, so she woke up on time the next morning.

After washing up, the drowsiness faded a bit.

Adeline got ready and went to work.

At the company, she went to the break room, habitually wanting to make Harrison a cup of coffee, only to realize he was on a business trip to Marifort City and wouldn't be back today.

She stood in a daze for a moment, then sighed.

Would she be unaccustomed after she resigned?

After all, she had been by Harrison's side for five years.

If she left the Thomson Group in the future and never saw him again, only learning about him through news and gossip, she might feel bitter.

Adeline lowered her eyes and let out a wry smile.

Actually, that wasn't a big deal.

She had been with Harrison for five years, so five more years should be enough to forget these five years.

If not, then she would take even more time.

She made herself a cup of coffee and returned to her desk, where she suddenly saw a message from Rowen.

Rowen said, [Last night, Mr. Thomson asked me to have someone bring Amber back.]

Adeline was stunned and immediately replied, Why?)

Rowen said, [I don't know, but Mr. Thomson sounded quite unhappy.]

Adeline was filled with doubts.

Based on her observations of Amber, she thought Amber was always very cautious and would never easily upset Harrison.

What did she do this time to make Harrison send her back overnight?

Thinking about it, Adeline guessed that Amber might have been too smug because

Harrison took her on a business trip to Marifort City and ended up doing something to offend Harrison.

She frowned slightly.

Amber didn't seem very smart.

Before she could reply, Rowen sent another message, saying, [Ms. Hensley, are you going to Marifort City to find Mr. Thomson?]

Adeline hesitated for a moment and replied, [Mr. Thomson didn't ask me to go.)

Rowen quickly replied, [I think Mr. Thomson wants you to go.]

She didn't understand why Rowen would say that.

If Harrison wanted her to go, he would have asked her from the start, so why take Amber instead?

Rowen sent another message, [It's cold now, and the climate in Marifort City might not suit Mr. Thomson. Although there are others there, no one knows Mr. Thomson better than you.]

Adeline thought about it. Marifort City was indeed much colder than their place.

If Harrison couldn't adapt and fell ill, things would be tricky.

Was his call to her last night because he felt unwell there?

Rowen added, [If Mr. Thomson gets sick and the business deal falls through, it would be a loss for the Thomson Group.

Adeline felt that it made sense.

She was still part of the Thomson Group, and she couldn't just watch the company's interests suffer.

Well, it must be.

Adeline replied, [I understand.]

Seeing her message, Rowen smiled and called Harrison.

Harrison had just woken up and answered the call groggily.

"Mr. Thomson, I just told Ms. Hensley about Amber being brought back, and she seemed quite worried about you."

Hearing this, Harrison immediately woke up.

"Did she really say that?" Harrison said.

"Yes," Rowen said confidently.

A smile appeared on Harrison's lips.

"Alright, let her come."

"Mr. Thomson, it's better if you call her yourself," Rowen said.

"Okay."

After hanging up, Rowen sighed deeply.

They couldn't do without Rowen.

Just as Adeline was about to call Harrison, his call came through.

"Mr. Thomson."

"Book the next flight to Marifort City," Harrison said.

Adeline thought, "He really wants me to go."

"I understand," Adeline said.

Hearing her agree so quickly, Harrison thought, "She really is worried about me."

After booking her ticket, Adeline briefed the other staff in the president's office and left the company.

As she reached the company entrance, Adeline encountered Amber, who looked haggard.

Amber had put on makeup, but the heavy foundation couldn't hide her exhaustion.

Honestly, Adeline admired her. Being sent back in the middle of the night and still making it to work in the morning.

Seeing Adeline, Amber forced a smile and said,"Good morning, Ms. Hensley. Where are you going?"

Before Adeline could answer, Amber realized

something and asked in a low voice, "Are you going to Marifort City?"

Adeline didn't deny it.

A trace of resentment flashed in Amber's eyes.

She was now as embarrassed as she was proud when she went to Marifort City with Harrison.

Not wanting to be mocked by Adeline, Amber said, "It was my first business trip with Mr.

Thomson. I didn't understand a lot of things, and upset him. It's a headache. But this was a lesson for me, and I won't make the same mistakes next time."

Adeline looked at her strangely and said, "You should tell that to Mr. Thomson."

What was the use of telling her?

Adeline still needed to go home and pack some things, so she didn't have time to chat with Amber and left.

Amber clenched her fists tightly.

This was supposed to be a great opportunity, but she blew it.

She shouldn't have been so hasty.

It was too late for regrets now.

She didn't expect Harrison to be so composed.

And did he really need to be so angry, sending her back overnight, not even giving her a chance to apologize in the morning?

Once she got to the office, she wondered what her colleagues would think of her.

But she didn't mind those people.

Amber took a deep breath and thought, "I just need to find a way to make it up to Harrison."

Adeline arrived in Marifort City at 1 in the afternoon.

She knew there would be a car to pick her up, but she didn't expect to find Harrison sitting in the car.

"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline looked at him in surprise. "Why are you here?"

"I was passing by," Harrison said expressionlessly.

"I remembered you should be arriving soon, so I waited here for a while."

Adeline didn't doubt him.

As the driver started the car, Harrison asked, "Have you eaten?"

"I ate on the plane," she said.

"It shouldn't be enough," Harrison said.

"Let's get something to eat first."

Adeline wanted to say she was full, but Harrison added, "I haven't had lunch yet."

So she swallowed her words.

Soon, the car stopped in front of a restaurant.
