Chapter 116: Ruin Her
Adeline trembled slightly, afraid to meet Harrison's gaze.
"Is there anything else?" Adeline asked.
Harrison's lips moved, and then he said, "Don't forget about the roasted lamb."
Adeline was speechless.
Shed probably dream about roasted lamb tonight.
"Got it, won't forget," Adeline said.
With her response, Harrison finally let go of her.
After she got out of the car and was about to close the door, she suddenly heard his voice again. "Goodnight."
Perhaps it was because of the quiet
surroundings, his voice sounded unusually gentle.
Adeline paused in closing the door and softly replied, "Goodnight."
When she got home and turned on the lights, she immediately walked to the window.
She saw Harrison's car driving away.
So, did he wait until he saw the lights on in her house before driving off?
Adeline clenched her fists, unable to describe her feelings.
After taking a shower, Adeline intended to study for a while, but she couldn't focus her mind.
This was unusual for her.
She knew that forcing herself to study at a time like this wouldn't be very productive, so she simply closed the study app, opened a video app, and tried to find a movie to watch.
There were many movies she hadn't seen recently.
She randomly selected one.
However, the plot at the beginning was about an assistant falling in love with her boss, thinking he was nice to her and might be interested in her too. But in the end, the boss was just teasing her, and the assistant left in embarrassment amidst tease.
What kind of movie did she click on?
She closed the video, shut down the computer, and went to bed.
But lying in bed, when she closed her eyes, all she could think about was Harrison.
She knew Harrison couldn't be like the boss in the movie.
But Adeline didn't have much confidence in their relationship.
Perhaps it was because she had already understood her position in the past five years.
She was just Harrison's secretary.
And, there was Eleanor between them.
Adeline wasn't sure about his relationship with Eleanor, but she could see how much he cared about her.
After all, Eleanor was Harrison's unrequited love.
Perhaps, Eleanor always had a place in his heart.
Lost in thought, Adeline finally fell asleep.
But she had another dream.
In the dream, several sheep were chasing her, and the sheep even spoke human language, saying they wanted to roast her.
Adeline ran desperately ahead, with the sheep chasing relentlessly behind her.
When she woke up in the morning, Adeline felt exhausted all over.
She thought, "It's all because Harrison kept talking about roasted lamb, making me dream of roast lamb!"
Millie woke up in the morning, reached for her phone, and started texting Adeline.
She sent the same old stuff, like how she sincerely wanted to reconcile with Adeline and hoped Adeline could come to her birthday party.
Millie had noticed Adeline softening up these days, so she couldn't give up.
After sending the message, she closed her eyes again, intending to sleep a little longer.
But at that moment, her phone suddenly chimed.
Millie woke up suddenly, picked up her phone, and saw a message from Adeline: [Send me the time and location of your birthday party.]
Millie stared at the phone screen for a while.
Then, a surge of excitement rose in her heart.
Did Adeline just agree?
Millie finally could proceed with her plan.
She sat up suddenly from the bed and quickly sent the time and location to Adeline.
Then, she made a phone call.
After a long time, there was an impatient voice from the other end.
"Millie, are you crazy? Look at the time now. Why call me this early?" Kaylie shouted.
After being scolded by Kaylie, Millie wasn't angry but excitedly said, "Just now, Adeline asked me for the time and location of my birthday party. It seems she intends to attend my birthday party!"
"Really?" Kaylie was somewhat incredulous and said, "You've hurt her before, and she actually agreed to come?"
"I've been working so hard lately to win her favor," Millie said proudly. "I've been sending her all kinds of flattering words, even though I feel nauseous! Even if Adeline is cold-hearted, she should be moved by me."
Kaylie had a hunch that things weren't that simple.
But she didn't remind Millie.
Anyway, let Millie try.
If successful, Adeline would be ruined.
If it failed, neither Harrison nor Adeline would find out it was her doing.
After all, it was Millie's doing.
"Well, then you go ahead," Kaylie said.
"Don't worry, I will definitely ruin her this time!" Millie said.
………
After Lacey's test results were out, Bianca immediately called Adeline.
Fortunately, the tumor was benign.
Adeline received the call while she was at the office.
After hanging up the phone, she was so happy that her eyes turned red.
Coincidentally, Harrison was passing.
Seeing her eyes turning red, he frowned slightly and asked in a deep voice, "Is something wrong?"
Adeline looked up at him and smiled, "Mr.
Thomson, my aunt's test results are out, and it's benign."
Harrison felt relaxed.
So, she was just too happy.
"That's good," he said gently. "My aunt will be fine."
Adeline was so happy that she didn't even notice Harrison calling Lacey "my aunt".
"Get off work early tonight and go to the hospital to see her," Harrison added.
Adeline nodded happily and said, "Thank you, Mr. Thomson."
Although she was happy, Adeline didn't forget her current work.
There was a brief meeting in the executive office in the afternoon.
Everyone walked towards the small meeting room.
Seeing this, Amber also wanted to follow, but Anna stopped her.
"You don't need to attend the meeting this afternoon," Anna smiled. "You've just arrived, and you haven't been exposed to the content of the meeting yet, so there's no need to waste the time. Ms. Hensley asked me to prepare some materials for you. You can take a look later."
Amber was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Isn't the meeting attended by all members of the executive office? I want to learn from you."
"It's fine. There are other ways for you to learn," Anna said, pulling Amber back to her workstation.
"I've already sent you the materials. Take a look. It'll be beneficial for you," Anna said.
With that, Anna prepared to leave.
Amber suddenly asked, "Is this Ms. Hensley's decision?"
Anna paused for a moment, but she didn't answer and simply left.
