Chapter 133: There's Nothing Between Us
This restaurant wasn't very large and had no private rooms, but it was very c'ean inside.
"This place serves a lot of Maritort City specialties," Harrison said. "It tastes good, and many people recommended it to me."
Adeline flipped through the menu.
Although she wasn't very hungry after eating on the plane, she had an appetite now.
"Are you treating me?" she asked.
"You're treating," Harrison said bluntly.
"Why?" Adeline pouted, "I just arrived in Marifort City. Shouldn't you treat me to a meal?"
"Because you didn't come with me, I was left fuming all night yesterday," Harrison said.
Adeline was speechless.
She was amused by Harrison.
It was he who didn't let her come and insisted on bringing Amber.
Now he was turning the tables so self-righteously.
"Mr. Thomson, don't you have a terrible conscience to say that?" Adeline asked.
"Not at all," Harrison said leisurely. "How about this? You treat me to this meal, and when we get back, MI treat you to a roast lamb."
The mention of roast lamb made Adeline want to laugh.
"You're still thinking about roast lamb?" Adeline asked.
"After all, I never got to eat it," Harrison said.
After they ordered, Adeline asked, "What did Amber do last night to upset you so much?"
Sitting opposite her, Harrison was in a good mood. Thinking about last night, he was no longer very angry, just a bit annoyed.
"It was nothing," Harrison said. "She did something I really dislike."
Hearing this, Adeline understood.
She poured Harrison a cup of coffee, saying, "Alright, don't let that bother you."
"There's nothing to bother about," Harrison said.
Adeline changed the subject, king, "How's the business negotiation going?"
"It's alright, not a big deal."
"If it's not a big deal, why did you come personally?"
Harrison didn't know how to answer for a moment.
He couldn't say he came to Marifort City because he saw photos of Adeline with Russell and got too angry, could he?
"I came here for a break. I've always heard Marifort City boasts of great scenery and delicious food." Harrison made up an excuse.
The excuse didn't quite convince Adeline, but she didn't ask further.
Recently, Harrison had been acting strangely.
"How long will we stay here?" Adeline asked.
"How long do you want to stay?" Harrison countered.
Adeline was even more confused. Did he expect her to decide?
"Are you in a hurry to go back?" As he asked, Harrison stared at her.
He wanted to see if she was eager to go back to see Russell.
"I'm not in a hurry," Adeline said. "It's just that handling work in Marifort City might be inconvenient."
Harrison relaxed a bit.
"It's only a few days. There are many great attractions in Marifort City. If you like, I can take you around," he said.
A business trip combined with sightseeing sounded good to Adeline.
However, if it was with Harrison, things would be different.
Adeline clenched her fingers.
She wasn't unwilling to go with Harrison, but she was afraid of losing control of her feelings again.' Seeing her silence, Harrison raised an eyebrow, asking, "You don't want to go?"
Adeline took a deep breath, asking, "Aren't you in a hurry to go back? What about Ms. Fraser?"
"Ms. Fraser? You mean Eleano.
Harrison looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean by that?"
Adeline couldn't gauge their current relationship.
But the scene at the hospital still lingered in her mind.
After witnessing that, she couldn't believe Harrison and Eleanor had nothing going on.
Adeline didn't answer his question, only saying, "If it's for work, I'll go with you. If it's for sightseeing, I'd rather not."
Harrison's eyes darkened.
He was about to say something when the waiter served the first dish.
After the waiter left, Harrison asked, "Do you
think there's something between Eleanor and me?"
Adeline didn't speak, which was as good as admitting it.
"There's nothing between us," Harrison said immediately. "At most, it's a business relationship. Don't you know she's about to start a partnership with the Thomson Group?"
"Of course I do. But..." Adeline said.
"No buts."
After speaking, Harrison added sourly, "After all, I've never built a snowman with her."
Adeline, who had just taken a sip of coffee, nearly choked.
"You... How come you..."
"Wondering how I know?" Harrison sneered.
Adeline regained her composure, saying, "There's nothing between me and him."
She wasn't guilty, just curious how Harrison knew about it.
"Really? You seemed pretty happy building that snowman," Harrison said.
The photo didn't show if Adeline was happy or not.
But Harrison thought, "If she wasn't happy, would she build a snowman v. Russell?"
Adeline explained, "That's just because I love building snowmen. When I was little, every time it snowed, my mom would take me to build one."
Mentioning her mother, Harrison said no more.
He knew her mother had passed away many years ago.
She wouldn't lie about her mother.
After a while, the waiter brought all their dishes.
Picking up his knife and fork, Harrison suddenly said, "Next time, I'll build a snowman with you."
"What?" Adeline thought she misheard.
Harrison's face darkened. "What, Russell can, but I can't?"
"No, I just think building a snowman doesn't quite match your demeanor."
"My demeanor is versatile."
Remembering Harrison's drunk behavior, Adeline stifled a laugh. "Yes, indeed."
"I feel like your words have a deeper meaning," Harrison said, staring at her.
"No," Adeline said innocently. "I'm just following your words."
"You better be."
With Adeline sitting opposite him, Harrison found his appetite much better.
And the food at this restaurant was indeed delicious.
They almost finished all the dishes they ordered.
After the meal, Adeline wanted to pay, but Harrison stood up first, saying, "I'll pay."
"Wasn't I supposed to treat?" Adeline asked, looking at him.
Harrison patted her head, saying, "Just teasing you."
The gesture was slightly intimate, making
Adeline's heart flutter. She turned to look out the window.
Across from the restaurant, she saw a coffee shop.
After Harrison paid, Adeline said, "Since you treated me to lunch, I'll treat you to coffee."
