Chapter 137: Perhaps This Is Fate
Harrison didn't give the hotel owner a hard time but simply asked him to find out the cause of the fire quickly and strengthen prevention measures in the future.
The hotel owner breathed a sigh of relief and nodded repeatedly in agreement.
Harrison said nothing more to him, then turned to Adeline and said, "Let's go, I'll take you to dinner."
He still remembered that Adeline had only had a cup of coffee since waking up.
"No, thanks." Adeline shook her head. She didn't have the appetite to eat now.
Hearing her refusal, Harrison didn't insist.
However, after Adeline entered her room in the new hotel, it wasn't long before she heard a knock on the door.
She opened it to find a waiter standing there with a food cart.
"Hello, this is room service ordered by Mr.
Thomson for you."
Adeline was taken aback but then said to the waiter, "Bring it in."
The waiter pushed the food cart into the room and then left.
Adeline saw that the cart was filled with food.
Just then, her phone beeped with a message.
It was from Harrison, [You should eat something. It's not good to go to bed hungry.]
For some reason, Adeline felt a lump in her throat.
On the bridge earlier, she had gathered the courage to determine Harrison's feelings.
But in the end, fate had other plans.
Perhaps this was fate.
Fortunately, Harrison took her to see the fireworks tonight.
If he had been in the hotel room at that time, Adeline thought she might have gone mad.
Although she had no appetite, she still ate quite a bit of the food from the cart.
After eating, she lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Having napped in the afternoon, she wasn't sleepy now.
She suddenly felt that ever since Harrison was drugged by Kaylie in the hotel, someone had been lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike.
And the target was Harrison.
Harrison certainly had enemies. It was impossible not to offend others in the business world.
But how many would dare to oppose the Thomson family and even try to kill Harrison?
Adeline ran through the list of suspects in her mind but couldn't pinpoint the most likely culprit.
Frustrated, she rolled around on the bed a few times.
Just then, Harrison sent another message, Go to sleep early. I'll take you out tomorrow.
Adeline frowned slightly and replied, [After such a big incidence today, you are still in the mood to go out and play?]
Harrison said, [Marifort City boasts so many beautiful sights. It would be a pity not to see them.]
Adeline said, [What about the business meetings?]
Harrison said, [They're almost done.]
Adeline said, [Alright, what time should we get up tomorrow?]
Harrison said, [Up to you, call me when you wake up.]
Adeline said, [Okay.]
She sighed.
Even with the arsonist not yet caught, Harrison still wanted to go sightseeing.
But thinking about it, she realized there was no point in dwelling on it without any leads. It might be better to see the sights and ease her mind.
With that thought, Adeline suddenly regretted her packing.
She had only brought business attire, suitable tor meetings, not for sightseeing.
Wearing such clothes at a tourist spot seemed inappropriate.
She sent another message to Harrison, saying, ( I want to go to the mall before we visit any sights tomorrow.]
Harrison didn't ask why and simply replied with "Okay."
Adeline scrolled through their chat history.
When she saw Harrison's drunken comment about wanting to eat a roast lamb after counting sheep, she couldn't help but laugh.
Just as she was about to sleep, Joyce sent her a message, [Adeline, what are you doing? Come out and play; a friend of mine just opened a bar.]
Adeline replied, ( I can't tonight. I'm in Marifort City.]
Joyce said, [Oh, you're in Marifort City? On a
business trip?"]
Adeline said, [Yes.]
Joyce said, [Alright, then I'll take you out when you get back. By the way, there's something ! want to tell you.]
Adeline said, [What is it? Why the secrecy?]
Joyce said, [I think I'm into somebody.]
Hearing this, Adeline was no longer sleepy.
She sat up straight and quickly typed back,
[Really? Who is it? Is he reliable?]
Joyce said, [Well, I can't guarantee reliability. But he's better than my ex.]
Adeline couldn't help but comment, [Not many could be worse than your ex.]
Joyce said, [You're so mean.]
Adeline said, [Tell me who you like. Do I know him?]
Joyce took a while to reply, [Yes, you do.]
Adeline said, Who is it?]
Adeline was getting anxious. After all, Joyce's ex had been terrible.
She was worried Joyce might again misjudge someone and get hurt.
Joyce said, (I don't know how to tell you yet. I'lI tell you in person when you get back.]
Adeline was puzzled.
What was so hard to say?
She ran through all the men she and Joyce both knew in her mind.
But she still couldn't figure out who it might be.
Adeline said, [Alright, but you must tell me when I get back. Don't rush into anything. Spend more time getting to know him first.]
Joyce said, [Don't worry, I know.]
After chatting with Joyce, Adeline began to feel sleepy.
She closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.
In the morning, Adeline and Harrison had breakfast together in the hotel restaurant.
The weather was great, with warm sunshine, perfect for going out.
"Which mall do you want to go to?" Harrison asked.
Adeline said, "Any is fine. I just want to buy some casual clothes for going out."
Hearing this, Harrison glanced at her outfit.
It really wasn't suitable for sightseeing.
Adeline quickly finished her breakfast and said, "I'm full."
Harrison frowned slightly and pushed an untouched glass of milk towards her.
"Drink some milk."
"I don't want to." Adeline looked resistant. "I don't like milk."
Harrison was puzzled. "You like coffee but not milk?"
Adeline was even more puzzled. "That's different."
Harrison said, "What's the difference? There was milk in your coffee."
Adeline was speechless.
"Drink more milk. It's good for you and helps you grow taller."
Adeline said, "At my age, grow taller?"
Adeline laughed. "Besides, I'm not short, right?"
Of course, compared to Harrison, she was petite.
"You're not short," Harrison said.
He liked her just the way she was.
Actually, he liked her in any way.
