One night stand with my president(chapter 117)

Chapter 117: Favored and Arrogant

In the small conference room, Anna recounted Amber's reaction to Adeline.

Y

Once the meeting began, Amber stood at the door of the small conference room, glaring fiercely at the closed door.

It seemed like Adeline was intentionally targeting her.

Was Adeline afraid that Amber would replace her by Harrison's side?

That was exactly Amber's intention.

Otherwise, why would she take such a big risk to pretend to be the woman sleeping with Harrison?

She turned and left the meeting room, then went to the pantry, brewed a cup of coffee, and went to Harrison's office door. She knocked on the door.

"Come in."

After she entered, Harrison glanced up and asked, "Isn't there an internal meeting in the CEO's office today? Why didn't you attend?"

Amber didn t answer immediately.

She walked up to Harrison's desk, placed the coffee on the table, and then said, "I was supposed to attend, but Ms. Hensley said I'm new here and there's no need for me to participate."

Harrison raised an eyebrow slightly, seeming somewhat surprised. "Did she really say that?"

"Yes."

After a moment, Harrison sighed and said,

"Everyone should attend internal meetings. Ms. Hensley should treat everyone equally."

Amber smiled and said, "It's fine, Mr. Thomson. Ms. Hensley is your chief secretary, and everyone in the CEO's office listens to her. She must have her reasons.”

"You can leave now," Harrison said. "I'll talk to her."

"Mr. Thomson, I don't want to cause any unpleasantness between you and Ms. Hensley because of me," Amber said.

"Just go," Harrison said.

Amber had intended to continue, but it seemed that Harrison didn't want to hear more from her.

She knew when to stop, so she turned and left.

After she left, Harrison glanced at the coffee she had brought in, and there seemed to be a flash of disgust in his eyes.

After the meeting, Adeline had just returned to her seat when she received an internal call frombHarrison. "Come in."

After hanging up the phone, Adeline immediately entered Harrison's office.

"Mr. Thomson, what's up?" Adeline asked.

Harrison pushed his glasses up his nose and asked, "Was the meeting smooth?”

"Quite smooth," Adeline replied truthfully.

"Why didn't you let Amber attend the meeting?" Harrison asked again.

Adeline remained silent for a moment before saying, "Because I don't trust her."

Harrison didn't seem too surprised by her words, only asking calmly, "Why?"

"No reason. I just don't trust her." Harrison looked at her.

Adeline met his gaze without flinching.

After a while, Harrison sighed helplessly and said, "Alright, you win."

Adeline didn't say anything. She noticed a cup of coffee on Harrison's desk that seemed untouched.

All the staff from the CEO's office were in the meeting just now.

Adeline knew that must have been brought in by Amber.

Adeline thought, "Sure enough, she came in to report to Harrison."

Adeline tightened her fingers and continued,

"Amber is untrustworthy. There must be someone behind her. I will find out as soon as possible."

"You don't need to investigate," Harrison said.

"Why?" Adeline asked, puzzled. "Do you really trust her?"

As soon as she said this, Adeline suddenly realized something was wrong.

This was Harrison's office.

If it were usual, she would never dare to speak to him in this tone in his office.

Somehow, Adeline thought that she was getting arrogant because of Harrison's indulgence.

Thinking of this, she felt shocked.

"You're overthinking," Harrison said. "I just..." He suddenly stopped.

Looking at Adeline, who was waiting for him to continue, he said awkwardly, "It's nothing."

He didn't want her to be involved in anything potentially dangerous.

It was annoyed that he didn't continue his words.

Harrison continued, "Bring me another cup of coffee."

"Isn't there one on your desk?" Adeline said, her face tense.

Harrison looked at her, unable to conceal his smile.

He really liked her current demeanor.

She actually dared to throw a tantrum at him, which was so rare.

In the past, she would have quickly hidden her emotions and returned to her usual professional demeanor.

That was what he used to admire about her, her professionalism, but now...

"It is, but I like the one you make for me,"

Harrison said.

Adeline said," It makes no difference."

"It's different," he said.

Adeline had to turn and leave. After a while, she returned with a steaming cup of coffee and placed it on Harrison's desk.

"What about this cup of coffee?" Adeline asked, pointing to the one Amber brought in.

"Pour it out," Harrison said.

"Okay."

Adeline took the coffee and went into the restroom in the lounge.

After pouring out the coffee, she walked out of the restroom, and her gaze fell on the wardrobe in the lounge.

She suddenly remembered seeing a box in Harrison's wardrobe last time.

Harrison was very unhappy then, saying that without his permission, she couldn't open his wardrobe again.

Adeline thought, "That box was a gift from his sweetheart. So was it from Eleanor?"

Adeline felt a little absent-minded.

He cared so much about the gift from Eleanor, indicating that Eleanor still held a certain position in his heart.

She quickly snapped out of it and walked out of the lounge.

"Mr. Thomson, is there anything else?" Adeline asked.

Harrison looked up at her and suddenly paused.

He felt like she was a bit different from before.

It seemed like she wasn't very happy after going to the lounge.

Of course, this was just his feeling.

After thinking for a moment, Harrison said, "I'll go see Lacey tonight."

"It's not necessary," Adeline immediately said.

"You already visited her once today, and you've been very considerate. I don't want to take up any more of your time."

Harrison's eyes narrowed as he asked, "Are you sure?"

Adeline nodded lightly

"I'm going anyway,” Harrison said, his tone cool.

Adeline looked at him incredulously.

Was this really Harrison?

How could he possibly...

"Tell me before you leave tonight. I'll go with you," Harrison said, his tone chilly.

Adeline had a feeling that if she didn't call

Harrison to go with her, then she was doomed.
