Chapter 118: It's Better This Way

After work, Adeline ended up going to the hospital with Harrison.

After getting out of the car at the hospital entrance, Adeline asked, "Mr. Thomson, haven't you had dinner yet? Do you want to eat something first?"

"Want to go for roast lamb?" Harrison asked.

Adeline inexplicably caught the humor, but she suppressed herself from laughing out loud, causing her voice to tremble slightly.

"Let's skip the roast lamb for now."

Her effort to hold back her laughter amused

Harrison.

"Alright, l'm not hungry anyway. We can grab something after seeing Lacey," Harrison said. "Are you hungry?"

"Not really."

"Then let's go in," Harrison said.

Chatting away, they walked into the hospital side by side, unaware that Eleanor was watching them with a sinister gaze from a nearby car.

"Ms. Fraser, what's wrong?" her new assistant asked cautiously.

Eleanor casually slapped her new assistant.

"Why do I need to report to you? Who put you in charge?" Eleanor snapped.

The assistant covered her face, feeling aggrieved but not daring to speak up.

She needed the job for money, after all.

Eleanor was in a bad mood at the moment.

Eleanor thought, "How could Harrison come to the hospital with Adeline? They didn't seem sick at all."

More importantly, she saw them walking and talking intimately, as if they were a couple who had been together for years.

Suddenly, Eleanor felt a headache coming on. If there was something going on between Harrison and Adeline, then what about Amber?

Eleanor couldn't tolerate any woman other than herself being around Harrison.

She had to think of a way...

Adeline's uncle was also in the ward today, but he was a man of few words, so he just shook hands with Harrison and went out to wash Lacey's clothes.

Harrison sat by Lacey's bedside chatting as before.

Now that they knew the tumor was benign, Lacey looked better than before, and Bianca was all smiles.

"Even though it's benign, the surgery shouldn't be taken lightly," Harrison said.

"After the specialist returns, I'll have him perform the surgery personally."

"Thank you so much, Mr. Thomson," Lacey said, touched. "Your help means a lot to me.

I don't know how to repay you." Harrison glanced at Adeline.

She was currently focused on peeling an apple, with the setting sun casting a golden glow around her.

"You're welcome, Lacey," Harrison said.

"Ms. Hensley has helped me a lot over the years. I'm glad to do something for her family."

Adeline's heart skipped a beat. She pretended to be focused on the apple, but she was so nervous that she didn't know where to look.

Lacey smiled knowingly, casting a meaningful glance at Adeline.

Lacey could tell that Adeline had feelings for Harrison.

But then she sighed deeply in her heart.

Lacey didn't know what kind of wealthy family the Thomson family was, but she knew they must be very rich.

Could a family like that really accept an ordinary family like theirs? Moreover, Adeline's family situation was more complicated than an ordinary family, with her father being a gambler...

Thinking this, Lacey couldn't help but blame Mateo.

Adeline handed the peeled apple to Lacey and asked, "Mr. Thomson, would you like me to peel one for you?"

She was just asking.

But Harrison said, "Sure. Thank you."

Adeline reluctantly picked up another apple and started peeling.

But just as she was about to finish peeling the apple, Harrison's phone suddenly rang.

Harrison took out his phone and frowned slightly when he saw the caller ID.

He answered the call, asking, "What's up?"

There was a slight change in his expression as he listened to the person on the other end of the line.

"Where are you now?" Harrison asked.

"Got it, I'll be right over," Harrison said.

Adeline's hand holding the apple paused.

For some reason, she had a strong premonition that the person calling Harrison was Eleanor.

After hanging up the phone, Harrison stood up and said to Lacey, "Lacey, I have something to attend to. I'll be leaving."

"What's wrong? Is it serious? Let Adeline go with you," Lacey quickly suggested.

Harrison glanced at Adeline and said, "No need, you rest well. I'll come see you next time."

With that, he didn't say anything else and hurriedly left.

Adeline kept her head down and continued peeling the apple.

Lacey spoke to herself, "From the look of it, it seems he has something important to deal with. Adeline, why don't you go with him?"

"Lacey, if Mr. Thomson didn't ask me to go with him, then I'm not needed," Adeline said with a smile. "Don't worry about it."

After finishing peeling the apple in her hand,

Adeline took a bite herself.

It was a bit sour.

Fortunately, she didn't give it to Harrison.

After leaving Lacey's hospital room, Harrison went to another ward in the hospital.

Eleanor was lying on the hospital bed, looking pale.

"Harrison, why did you come so soon?" Eleanor pretended to be surprised when she saw him.

"I happened to be at the hospital," Harrison said.

"What's wrong? How come you're in the hospital?" Eleanor asked.

Harrison didn't answer his question but asked, "What's wrong with you? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Eleanor said, lowering her gaze.

At this point, her assistant beside her said, "Mr. Thomson, Ms. Fraser fainted at home just now. After being brought to the hospital, the doctor said it was because she's been under a lot of stress due to recent emotional instability."

In fact, Eleanor had only come to do a simple check-up today.

But seeing Harrison and Adeline walk into the hospital together, she had her assistant arrange a ward for her and called Harrison to come over.

"Harrison, I'm supposed to go take my makeup photos soon, but I just..." Eleanor choked up, "I'm not feeling well."

"If you're not feeling well, you can postpone the work. Don't put too much pressure on yourself," Harrison said.

Eleanor looked at him tearfully.

Was Harrison's concern for her just for their collaboration?

"Harrison, who exactly is Amber?" Eleanor asked.

Harrison furrowed his brows, looking somewhat impatient.

"Who she is has nothing to do with you,"

Harrison said.

Tears still glistened on Eleanor's face as she

looked at him. "You... You're actually defending her? Harrison, we've known each other for so many years. Am I really less important to you than someone who just showed up recently?"
