Chapter 85: Harrison Got Sick
He didn't speak, but Sam vaguely understood.
"Oh, don't worry. You will have to take it slow with this kind of thing." Sam comforted him.
"But it' s already late. Why don't you take the opportunity to stay over?"
Harrison moved his lips slightly.
He did want to, but since she didn' t invite him to stay, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Why don't you just take the direct approach?" Sam smirked.
"Maybe once you get her, Ms. Hensley won't be able to resist you."
Harrison hung up the phone directly.
Only a madman would take Sam as his strategist.
This guy wasn't serious at all.
Harrison closed his eyes, but he couldn't help but wonder what Adeline was doing at home right now. He had left, and she should have changed into her pajamas by now.
Her pajamas were pink, with strawberry patterns on them.
It seemed she was girlish deep inside as all her personal items were pink.
As he thought about it, he inexplicably conjured up some romantic images in his mind.
Harrison frowned slightly, immediately opened his eyes, started the car, and cursed himself for being crazy.
When he parked the car at his doorstep, his phone rang.
His first reaction was that it was Adeline calling him.
He thought, "Is she feeling unwell again?"
He felt anxious and immediately picked up the phone without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
However, on the other end of the phone was another woman's voice.
"Harrison."
Harrison's face instantly darkened.
He rubbed his forehead, got out of the car, and asked as he walked into the house, "What's the matter?"
"Harrison, am I disturbing your rest at this hour? But I'm feeling sad and scared alone. Can you come over and keep me company?" Eleanor said with a grievance.
"So much has happened in these past two days."
Harrison said in a deep voice, "I'm busy. Find someone else."
"Are you blaming me?" Eleanor asked anxiously, "For what happened this afternoon, you think I embarrassed you, right?"
Harrison didn't say anything.
Eleanor continued on her own, "I didn't expect Sidney to do such a thing. It's probably because I scolded her before, so she's holding a grudge against me. And Ms. Hensley happened to give me some ointment, so she framed Ms. Hensley. Harrison, if I had known, I would never have let Ms. Hensley suffer. After all, Ms.
Hensley is yours, and I want to take care of your feelings...”
Before she could finish, Harrison coldly interrupted her, "Eleanor, don't let this kind of thing happen again."
Eleanor suddenly held her breath, and after a while, she cautiously said, "I understand. In the future, when I hire an assistant, I will be careful in my selection."
"I'm not talking about your assistant."
"So, you mean me?" Eleanor's voice sounded choked with tears.
"Harrison, how could you think of me like that? Do you think I will harm Ms. Hensley? I have no grudge against her. Why would I harm her?"
"You know it in your heart," Harrison said lightly.
There was no emotion in his voice, nor could one detect any anger.
But it inexplicably made Eleanor feel a chill.
She defended herself and said, "You know how much I value my appearance. If I were to ruin my own face to frame Ms. Hensley, wouldn't that be cutting off my nose to spite my face?"
Harrison couldn't be bothered to listen to her, so he hung up the phone directly.
And as Eleanor listened to the beeping sound from the receiver, she almost dropped her phone.
Sure enough, Harrison didn't believe her at all!
The only reason he wasn't arguing with her now was probably because he still cared about her cooperation with the Thomson Group.
Or maybe he did it for the sake of her favor in the past.
She knew Harrison didn't love her.
Perhaps, whether it was five years ago or now, he had never loved her.
Eleanor suddenly began to doubt whether the tenderness he showed her five years ago was real.
Or had she imagined too much in the past five years, mistaking fantasy for reality?
Eleanor couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat.
She thought, "No, it couldn't be!"
Eleanor poured herself a large glass of wine and gulped it down.
She must get Harrison, no matter what means she had to use, no matter how many obstacles she had to overcome!
Because she slept from the afternoon until after midnight, Adeline only dozed off for a while until dawn approached.
But she still woke up early and started baking cookies.
When she thought of what Harrison said yesterday, "Nothing else. Cookies are fine," Adeline's heart pounded violently.
She felt that there seemed to be some other meaning to that sentence, but upon further thought, she felt she was just being oversensitive.
Maybe Harrison just didn't want to inconvenience her since he didn't need anything else.
Adeline baked the cookies and made fruit tea before she set off for the office.
When she arrived at the office, she placed the cookies and fruit tea on the table, waiting for Harrison to come so she could give them to him.
However, she waited until nearly noon, and Harrison still hadn't come.
Adeline found it a bit strange.
Harrison was the company's leader, so naturally he didn't need to clock in every day, but he was usually diligent. Except for
special circumstances, he almost came to the office every day.
Moreover, there were some things he had to deal with today, and he knew that.
If something had come up, Harrison would have told Adeline in advance.
What was going on?
Adeline picked up her phone and called Harrison.
After a while, Harrison's voice came from the other end of the phone. "Hello?"
"Mr. Thomson, do you have something going on today?" Adeline asked.
Harrison suddenly chuckled.
Adeline was a bit bewildered by his chuckle.
But she noticed that Harrison's voice seemed a bit weak.
She tentatively asked, "Mr. Thomson, are you sick?"
"Yes," Harrison said. "Ms. Hensley, I've caught your infection."
Adeline was speechless.
Yesterday when he made her take the medicine, they were indeed very close to each other.
"Then please rest well," Adeline said.
After saying that, Adeline was about to hang up the phone.
But she suddenly heard Harrison mutter, "Heartless..."
"What?" Adeline doubted if she had misheard.
"I said you're heartless,' Harrison said, "Looks like you've forgotten what happened yesterday."
"Oh.." Adeline felt a bit embarrassed. "No, that's not it. I just thought that since you're at home now, you wouldn't be lacking someone to take care of you."
If she rushed over, it would seem like she was overdoing it. Besides, if she delayed work for this, Harrison might get angry.
"I need someone to take care of me."
Harrison's voice grew weaker as he added, "I'm alone at home now."
