Chapter 74: I'm Afraid She'll Dislike Me
Harrison rubbed his forehead and let out a helpless laugh.
"Even if I tell her, she won't believe it."
Sam thought for a moment and nodded in agreement. "Seems like that's the case. You never speak kindly to her, so how could she believe you like her?"
Harrison felt a sharp pang in his heart.
Sam said seriously, "And there's another possibility that she believes it but doesn't want to accept it. If that's the case, it's even worse. She'll probably avoid you, maybe even resign on the spot."
Harrison was speechless.
"Let's not dwell on whether she believes it or not. Harrison, do you think she likes you?"
Harrison remembered the recording
Myra made him listen to.
"I'm well aware that the relationship between Mr. Powell and me is strictly hierarchical. He will only be my boss."
And he thought about her usual polite yet distant demeanor...
"No, she doesn't," Harrison smirked self-deprecatingly.
"Are you sure?" Sam looked at him skeptically.
"Yes."
"Then try to be nicer to her in the future. No girl would like a man who is frequently unkind to her."
Sam was putting a lot of effort into advising Harrison, but he could see that Harrison still
seemed troubled about something.
"Harrison, do you have any other concerns?"
Harrison's lips parted. After a while, he said, "I'm afraid she'll dislike me."
As soon as he said this, Sam's expression turned shocked.
"Harrison, you... It seems like you have deep feelings for Ms. Hensley!"
He was the head of the Thomson Group, a young business genius Group, a young pusiness genius with wealth, status, and looks.
And yet, he was afraid someone would dislike him.
Wasn't that deep affection?
"How could you think like that?" Sam asked, bewildered.
Harrison said, "A while ago, I was drugged."
"You mean... that kind of drug?"
"Yeah, a woman entered my room and helped me detox."
"Wow!" Sam jumped up, "So you lost your virginity without a word to me?"
"Is that the point?" Harrison felt a headache coming on.
"Of course, it is!" Sam said indignantly, "I never expected I would lag behind you in this matter!"
Harrison didn't want to talk to him.
"Who was that woman? I want to know which brave soul took away your virginity!"
"I don't know," Harrison said.
"You don't know? She didn't show up in front of you? Didn't she ask you for money or something else?"
"No. By the time I woke up the next morning, she was gone."
And until now, there had been no clue about that woman.
It was as if a woman had silently appeared in his world, helped him immensely, and then disappeared without a trace.
"Then you should hurry up and find out!"
"Ms. Hensley is already investigating."
Sam was speechless.
After a while, he said with difficulty, "So Ms. Hensley not only knows about this but also has to help you investigate the woman you slept with? Alright, I finally understand why you're worried that Ms. Hensley might dislike you."
Sam thought, "When the time came, Adeline would have to tell him in person, 'Mr. Thomson, the woman you slept with that night was so-and-so."
With such a thing, Adeline was bound to be unhappy.
"This matter is tricky."
Harrison poured himself a drink and finished it in one go.
Even Sam, who was full of ideas, said this matter was tricky.
Then how should Harrison face Adeline in the future?
"What will you do after finding that woman?" Sam asked.
"It depends on the situation."
He said so, and Sam didn't pursue further.
Because this situation was indeed a bit tricky.
If Harrison didn't have someone he liked, then it would be easier to handle.
But now that Harrison realized he had fallen for Adeline...
But he wasn't the kind of person who would just walk away completely.
After all, that woman had helped him.
Sam sighed and said, "It's a pity your first time wasn't with Ms. Hensley."
Hearing this, Harrison felt like his heart was constricted.
He originally thought what he cared about most was being schemed against.
But now, he suddenly realized he cared very much about the absurdity of that night.
Why couldn't his first time have been with Adeline?
What did Adeline think after knowing he had slept with a stranger?
Maybe she would dislike him very much.
"Since that's the case, you should be nicer to her." Sam advised earnestly, "Don't be cold to her all the time. Oh, by the way, everyone thinks you and Eleanor have something going on. Is that what she thinks too? You should be mindful of this, or else Russell might take advantage."
Harrison fell silent for a moment and said, "I understand."
At this moment, Sam received a call.
"What's up? Oh, the camera is fixed? Alright, I'll have someone pick it up tomorrow."
Harrison didn't care about the content of Sam's call. At this moment, all he could think about was Adeline.
Early in the morning, Adeline received another message from Millie.
Adeline, I've learned two new dishes recently. Do you want to try them? If you do, I can bring them to the office for you.]
Adeline glanced at it indifferently and closed the message.
She had too many worries and didn't feel like dealing with Millie.
Anyway, when the time came, Millie would reveal her true colors.
Yesterday evening, Adeline heated up the snacks Milania had brought her to use as breakfast.
While eating, she couldn't help but think of what Harrison had said to her last night.
He said if she encountered any problems in the future, she could tell him.
Adeline lowered her gaze.
How annoying.
Just with a simple sentence, he could easily disturb her mind.
She shouldn't entertain any thoughts.
Adeline shook her head, as if trying to shake off all her messy thoughts.
She quickly arrived at the office and forced herself to focus on her work.
When Harrison arrived, Adeline brewed a cup of coffee and brought it into his office.
She placed the coffee on his desk and was about to report today's schedule when she heard Harrison ask, "How's the progress on that woman?"
