Chapter 81: Definitely Sweet
Harrison was a neat freak!
But just now, he took the tissue with tears from her!
Adeline stared at Harrison in shock, forgetting to cry.
Harrison was racking his brain trying to figure out how to cheer her up when he noticed she had stopped crying and was staring at him with wide eyes, which puzzled him.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Harrison asked.
"No... Nothing," Adeline replied dryly.
She didn't know why she was looking at him like that, but she had stopped crying.
Harrison felt relieved and said to her, "Get some rest."
"Okay."
Adeline lay down, but Harrison didn't leave immediately. He reached out to tuck her in and said, "I'll be in the living room. Let me know if you need anything."
Adeline thought, "Does that mean he's not planning to leave?"
But she felt too exhausted to speak, so she just made a faint "Mm" sound from her throat.
She closed her eyes and heard Harrison's footsteps.
He must have left because she heard the bedroom door open and close.
Adeline lay with her eyes closed, feeling tired but suddenly unable to fall asleep.
When she was sick, Harrison bought medicine for her, took care of her, and wiped her tears…
These were things she had never dared to imagine before.
But now, they were happening for real.
Adeline suddenly wondered, "Could this be a dream?"
Perhaps Harrison hadn't come back just now, and she hadn't taken the medicine. Nor did Harrison wipe tears for her.
But the firm touch in her palm reminded her that what just happened was real.
She opened her eyes and looked down at the candy in her hand.
Even though she hadn't eaten it yet, she felt like this candy would definitely be sweet.
It was already quitting time, and Joyce was at her desk tidying up while contemplating what to eat tonight.
Just as she was torn between a steak and spaghetti, a colleague rushed over to her, grabbing her arm excitedly.
"Joyce, guess who's looking for you! That guy! He's here to see you!"
"Who?" Joyce looked at her blankly.
"Sam Juarez!" Her colleague exclaimed, "I met him when I went for an interview earlier. He specifically asked for you! Joyce, how do you know Mr. Juarez? He even came to pick you up after work!"
Sam?
Joyce felt a tingling sensation in her scalp.
How could Sam come to the magazine office looking for her?
Oh, right, he said he would find someone to help fix her camera.
Could it be that her camera was already repaired?
But she had only left her phone number for Sam before!
Moreover, she had told Sam her name was Jemma Aguirre.
But her colleague said Sam specifically asked for her.
This meant Sam already knew Joyce had lied to him.
Joyce felt so embarrassed.
"Joyce, why are you still standing there? Mr. Juarez is waiting for you outside!" Her colleague urged.
Joyce snapped back to reality and hurriedly walked outside.
Now, she could only try to salvage the situation as much as possible.
If she offended Sam, she might lose her job!
Once outside, Joyce indeed saw Sam waiting at the entrance.
He was dressed casually, leaning lazily against the wall, one hand holding a bag, the other a phone, chatting with someone with a casual smile on his face.
Joyce encouraged herself in her mind.
Then, she stepped forward towards him.
Hearing her footsteps, Sam looked up.
His smile deepened when he saw her.
"Meeting again, Ms. Aguirre?"
Joyce stopped in front of him and said with a wry smile, "Mr. Juarez, please don't joke with me."
"I'm just trying to cooperate with you," Sam said with a smile.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you. My name is Joyce Monroe."
Sam shrugged, indicating he didn't care about being deceived.
"Your camera has been fixed."
"Fixed?"
Joyce took it with surprise, opened the bag, and took out the camera, examining it for a moment.
"It's fixed!" Joyce exclaimed with delight.
"My precious, you've finally returned!"
After saying that, she realized Sam was still standing beside her, so she quickly composed herself and said, "Um, thank you, Mr. Juarez."
"You're welcome," Sam said. "After all, I was the one who broke your camera, so it's only right that I made sure it was fixed."
But Joyce wasn't the type to hold grudges.
"Regardless, thank you," Joyce said. "If you ever need any help in the future, feel free to ask."
"Alright," Sam nodded with a smile. "Then, I'll take my leave."
"Take care, Mr. Juarez."
After Sam left, Joyce spent a moment doting on her beloved camera before heading home from work.
However, just as she stepped out of the magazine office, she suddenly heard a voice that made her feel nauseous.
"Joyce..."
Joyce furrowed her brow, suppressing the urge to vomit, and instead of turning around, she walked briskly ahead.
But a man suddenly walked in front of her, blocking her path.
"Joyce, I've been calling out to you, and you're just ignoring me.
Isn't that a bit too rude?" The man grinned at her.
Joyce was furious, and she said angrily, "Archie, what do you want?"
"What do I want? Don't you know?" Archie George said affectionately.
"I just want to win back my true love.”
But Joyce wanted to hit him when she heard that.
"Get lost! We have broken up long ago. I've told you many times not to harass me!" Joyce roared.
Archie was her ex-boyfriend.
They had been together for six months until Joyce found out he was cheating on her and promptly dumped him.
But this guy kept bothering her.
After Adeline found out about this, she used some means to give Archie a lesson, and since then, he had quieted down a bit.
But now, he had come to her workplace to harass her again.
"Joyce, I was wrong, but please believe me. I truly love you. It's all that woman's fault for seducing me. I couldn't control myself and ended up hurting you."
Joyce had heard these words from him countless times, and she was fed up with it.
Only a fool would believe his nonsense.
"Get lost!"
Joyce wanted to leave, but Archie kept pestering her.
"Joyce, you can't be so heartless to me. I won't give up on you. If you don't reconcile with me, I'll wait for you here every day. Oh, how about I put up a banner that says 'Joyce, I love you'?”
"You!" Joyce was trembling with anger.
Archie was threatening her. If he did something like that at her workplace, she might lose her job.
