One night stand with my president(chapter 73)

Chapter 73 A Significant Breakthrough

Harrison picked up his glass of wine.

He had called Sam out because he wanted to consult him about a relationship issue.

After all, Sam always boasted about his romantic escapades, claiming to have never been in a serious relationship.

But when Sam appeared in front of him, Harrison realized that Sam, like himself, had never been in love, just talking big most of the time.

Could he find answers from Sam?

Sam finished his drink without Harrison even getting a word in.

He yawned and said with a wry smile, "Harrison, are you going to talk or not? What's wrong with you? Did you leave your vocal cords at home?"

Harrison hesitated before asking, "Do you have someone you like?”

Sam suddenly took a deep breath, looking at him incredulously.

"Wait, did I hear you correctly? Are you asking me if I have someone I like? You're asking me this question?"

Harrison, rare in his awkwardness, could only cover it up with impatience. "Quit the nonsense, answer."

"Well, not at the moment, but back in high school, I did fall in love with a girl. Did that

count?" Sam poured himself another drink.

"Do you remember that there was a girl in our class named Macey Carpenter?"

Harrison recalled. "Vaguely."

But it was only the name he vaguely remembered.

He couldn't recall what she looked like.

"She had long hair, always tied in a long ponytail, wearing the school uniform... Oh, youth! She used to sit in front of me, reading and studying diligently, discussing problems with her desk mate.." Sam's gaze drifted off as he was lost in memory. "Just looking at her made me happy."

"Just looking at her made you happy?" Harrison asked, puzzled.

"Of course! Wouldn't you be happy looking at someone you like?" Sam said.

Harrison pondered.

Was he happy when he saw Adeline?

After all, they had been together for five years.

Except for holidays, she was almost always by his side.

"But unfortunately, I didn't have the courage to confess to her back then. After graduation, I lost touch with her." Sam shrugged.

But there was no trace of regret on his face.

After all, that was many years ago.

The initial infatuation, after so many years, had turned into indifference.

With his status, it would have been easy for him to find Macey's contact information, but he didn't.

"You also had something you lacked the courage to do," Harrison said.

"Well, I was young then!”

After Sam finished speaking, he leaned closer to Harrison and said, "Alright, l've said my piece. Now it's your turn."

"My turn for what?" Harrison tried to act tough.

"Cut it out. You wouldn't ask me if I liked someone out of nowhere. You must be going through something. Let me guess, is it related to Ms. Hensley?"

Harrison neither confirmed nor denied it.

"Hold on, are you telling me you're unsure if you like Ms. Hensley?" Sam hit the nail on the head.

Harrison thought to himself, "Sam is truly a close friend of mine. It is no wonder he figured it out so quickly."

"Yeah!" Sam looked at him in amazement.

"Harrison, you're doing great!"

Harrison furrowed his brow, puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Was Sam complimenting him?

"I mean, for you to even start thinking about this question is a significant breakthrough."

Harrison was speechless.

"Alright, I won't tease you anymore." Sam chuckled, "So, why are you starting to think about this?"

Harrison didn't want to answer at first.

But somehow, he found himself saying, "Because of Russell."

"Huh? Oh... I see. Because it makes you uncomfortable seeing Ms. Hensley with Russell, right?"

"Yeah."

"You're jealous!" Sam slapped his thigh. "You definitely like Ms. Hensley! Why else would you be jealous?"

Harrison thought for a moment.

So, that feeling was called jealousy?

"You're a genius in every aspect, except when it comes to emotions,” Sam said sagely. "But I've known for a while now that Ms. Hensley is different to you."

"How did you know?" Harrison rarely sought advice from him so humbly.

"Can't explain it. Let me ask you this. If Ms. Hensley were to resign right now, what would you do?"

"That's impossible," Harrison said coldly.

"Impossible? What do you mean?"

Harrison clenched his glass of wine and said, "She wouldn't resign, and I wouldn't agree to it."

With that said, he noticed Sam's evil smile.

In an instant, something clicked in his mind.

When Sam mentioned Adeline's resignation, Harrison's heart palpitated noticeably.

Just hearing Sam say that made him feel uneasy.

If Adeline handed in her resignation letter, he would go crazy.

Harrison collected himself and said, "Ms. Hensley is a very capable assistant. It would be difficult to find another secretary as excellent as her."

"Alright, stop beating around the bush," Sam said. "You simply don't want Ms. Hensley to leave you. Whether or not she's an excellent secretary is beside the point. No, I should say, you simply don't want Adeline to leave you.”

"Adeline.." Harrison savored the three syllables on his lips.

"Because you know very well, once she resigns, there may no longer be any interaction between you two," Sam said.

After Sam finished speaking, Harrison felt a vague sense of pain surge within him.

If Adeline truly handed in her resignation letter and disappeared from his world, then he...

"Harrison, your hand is shaking!” Sam's amused voice snapped Harrison out of his reverie.

Harrison immediately looked down at his hand.

Sure enough, he saw his hand trembling faintly.

Harrison quickly regained his composure, but his heart was no longer calm.

"Harrison, there's nothing wrong with admitting you like someone," Sam said, patting his shoulder. "I know you've always thought that love couldn't exist in your world, but now that it's here, just accept it. Think about whether you want to let Ms. Hensley know how you feel."

Harrison's lips moved.

He could already imagine it.

If he were to confess to Adeline...

He said, "Ms. Hensley, I like you."

Adeline would respond with her usual professional smile, saying, " Mr. Thomson, please don't joke. We have a meeting shortly."
