Chapter 106: Intoxicated Kiss
Adeline was stunned.
Did Harrison drink too much and come to her house because of Russell again?
Did he see her talking with Russell outside the restaurant?
But he didn't need to react this way...
A thought seemed to flash in Adeline's mind.
But she couldn't grasp it.
Or rather, she didn't dare to.
She never dared to think that he might have feelings for her.
"Mr. Thomson, I've never thought you were inferior to him," Adeline said.
Harrison laughed dryly.
He said, "I know you're just humoring me. You think I'm drunk, so you're humoring me."
"I'm not," Adeline said. "I'm serious."
But Harrison wasn't listening.
He said, "I'm not drunk. Don't humor me. I want to hear the truth."
Adeline smiled, "What I just said is the truth."
"No, that's not what I want to hear," Harrison said.
She was confused.
"Then what do you want to hear?" Adeline asked.
Suddenly, Harrison went silent again.
They stayed like that for a while.
Adeline realized they were still tightly pressed together, and her face grew hot.
Just as she was about to try pushing Harrison away, she heard his voice again.
"What I want to hear is... your feelings," Harrison said.
As he said this, he lifted his head from her neck to face her.
The room was dark, and Adeline couldn't see clearly, but she knew he was looking at her.
Adeline felt she could hardly breathe. Her mind was in chaos.
His meaning was evident, yet she couldn't process it.
"I..."
Just as she uttered one word, Harrison suddenly lowered his head and covered her lips with his.
Adeline was in a panic. She had expected Harrison to act wildly drunk, but she hadn't expected him to go this far.
She tried to push him away, but his arms held her firmly, and she couldn't get rid of him at all.
Yet his kiss remained gentle as if she were the most precious one he wanted to protect.
Within that gentleness, there was a hint of seduction, seducing her to fall in love with him.
Adeline didn't know when she had stopped struggling.
She even started to respond to him.
Her response was the greatest temptation and encouragement for Harrison.
He seemed no longer satisfied with just a kiss and began unbuttoning her shirt.
In a daze, Adeline felt a chill on her chest.
She then realized all her buttons had been undone by Harrison.
Adeline suddenly snapped awake and pushed Harrison away.
Caught off guard, Harrison fell back onto the bed.
Adeline quickly sat up, her fingers trembling as she buttoned her shirt.
She was just as crazy as Harrison.
The last time Harrison lost control was because he was drugged.
But what about this time? He was just drunk.
He didn't know what he was doing, but she was sober.
She couldn't let herself make mistakes again.
Harrison remained still for a long time after she pushed him away.
Only when Adeline finished buttoning her shirt and stood up to leave did he suddenly sit up and grab her wrist.
"Don't go," he said pitifully. "Did I upset you?"
Adeline took a deep breath and said, "Let go of me."
"I won't," Harrison said. "I'l never let you go, never."
Adeline felt a painful tightness in her chest.
She said, "You know there's no future for us, so why..."
"What?" Harrison didn't understand her.
"I said let go of me," Adeline said in a deliberately stern tone. "If you don't, I'll be mad."
After she said this, Harrison immediately let her go.
"I let go. Don't be mad at me," Harrison said.
Adeline looked back at his pitiful, aggrieved expression, her heart softening.
But she forced herself to ignore him and left the bedroom. Harrison didn't follow.
After leaving the bedroom, Adeline went to the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and splashed cold water on her face.
She needed to stay perfectly rational.
She couldn't afford to lose control like that again.
After drying her face with a towel, feeling the heat on her face subside and her pounding heart calm down, Adeline sat in the living room for a while.
She couldn't leave Harrison alone in the bedroom, so she went to the kitchen, fetched a bowl of sobering soup, and returned to the bedroom.
Harrison was sitting obediently by the bed.
Adeline turned on the bedroom light, walked to the bed, and handed him the sobering soup.
"Drink this, then go to sleep," Adeline said.
Harrison, perhaps because the alcohol was hitting him harder, was very compliant.
He took the soup and drank a few sips.
Then, frowning, he said, "I can't drink anymore."
Adeline, seeing that he had drunk some, didn't force him and took the bowl from his hands. She then took a damp towel and wiped his face and hands.
Harrison cooperated throughout the process.
Adeline felt a bit more at ease.
"Take off your clothes and go to sleep."
"Okay."
Harrison immediately took off his jacket and then began to remove his pants.
Adeline's eyes widened, and she quickly turned to leave.
Behind her, Harrison called out, "Where are you going? Can you stay?"
"I'm going to sleep in the guest room!" Adeline said.
After saying this, she quickly left the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
She couldn't stay and watch him undress.
Adeline stood by the door for a while, hearing no noise from the bedroom, and the door remained closed.
She let out a long sigh of relief.
It seemed he had gone to sleep.
That was good.
If he had continued to pester her, she feared she wouldn't be able to control herself.
Adeline went to the guest room and took a shower.
When she came out, she picked up her phone and saw that Harrison had called her.
He had called eight times. Adeline was speechless.
Had he not slept all this time?
What was going on? The last time he was drunk, he spent most of the time sleeping.
Just as she found it amusing, Harrison's call came in again.
She immediately hung up and sent a message: [Go to sleep right now!]
After sending the message, Adeline suddenly felt a sense of accomplishment.
In the previous time, Adeline would never have imagined she would one day speak to Harrison in such a commanding tone.
