Chapter 68: Dinner at the Thomson Family
Harrison took a deep breath.
He had always thought that he would be angry because Adeline was getting too close to executives from other companies.
But now, Adeline had assured him that she would never disclose anything from the company.
Upon careful consideration, he trusted Adeline on this point.
So why was he still feeling uneasy?
For the first time, an incredible thought popped into Harrison's mind.
Did he fall in love with Adeline?
This thought stirred Harrison's mind.
He fell in love with Adeline?
Many people had joked about him and Adeline before, especially Sam.
They all said Adeline was capable and beautiful. How could any man not develop feelings for her after five years together?
Every time he heard this, Harrison would scoff.
He thought these people had nothing in their heads except romantic notions.
He absolutely wouldn't get involved in romance.
But now, he wasn't so sure.
"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline called out, puzzled by his silence.
Adeline thought, "Why did he suddenly fall silent?"
"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving," Adeline said, turning to go.
Just as Adeline was about to leave, her wrist was grabbed by him.
His palm was so hot that Adeline felt warm immediately.
"Did I ask you to leave?" Harrison frowned.
Adeline gritted her teeth.
She wanted to kick him hard.
But she couldn't.
After all, he was her boss.
"Mr. Thomson, what do you want?" Adeline asked.
"What happened that night?"
Harrison asked sternly, "What did Russell help you with?"
As he said this, he felt Adeline's body stiffen.
"Nothing," Adeline said, looking down. "Just a minor thing."
Harrison tightened his grip on her wrist.
She wouldn't tell him.
This made him even more restless, as if she and Russell shared a secret.
He needed to know what Russell did for her so he could repay the favor and put her mind at ease.
"Even if it's a minor thing, l want to know," he insisted.
"It's nothing. Please don't ask," Adeline replied.
Actually, what happened that night wasn't something she couldn't tell Harrison.
It was just that Adeline was afraid that if she told him, Harrison would sneer and say she was trying to seduce men.
If someone else said that, she wouldn't care at all.
But she didn't want to hear it from him.
"Fine, if you won't tell me, I'll ask Russell," Harrison said, taking out his phone.
"No!"
Adeline panicked and reached out to grab his phone, but Harrison reacted quickly. He dodged her hand and grabbed her shoulder, pressing her against the car.
"Ms. Hensley, you're getting bolder," Harrison said.
He was not angry, but it sent a shiver down Adeline's spine.
Since they had reached this point, she met Harrison's gaze and said, "This matter is over. I don't think it's necessary to bother Mr. Hunter."
"Feel sorry for him?" Harrison asked with a cold smile.
Adeline thought Harrison was out of his mind.
"I'm thinking about you," she said.
"If you go to Mr. Hunter for this, it will only make him think you're being unreasonable."
Harrison was pleased with her
"I'm thinking about you".
So he ignored her next words.
"Then tell me, and I won't go to him," Harrison said, his gaze lowering to her red lips.
His heart raced, which showed his desire.
It wasn't the first time he had wanted to kiss Adeline.
If a man didn't like a woman, would he want to kiss her?
Harrison, who was smart, was at a loss on this question.
Adeline hadn't expected him to be so persistent about this.
So she had to change the subject.
"Mr. Thomson, where are you going to take me to?"
Harrison knew she was deliberately changing the subject. When he was about to say something, he heard footsteps.
He turned slightly to see a senior executive from the company.
The executive had come to drive away after work.
He didn't expect to witness a scene that astonished him.
Harrison and Adeline were actually alone.
He thought they were going to do something intimate in the car.
Meeting Harrison's gaze, the senior executive was frightened and quickly ran off, not even bothering to drive away.
He didn't mean to bump into Harrison being with Adeline.
Adeline was embarrassed and said, " Mr. Thomson, there are passersby at any time. Others will misunderstand the situation."
Harrison chuckled. He let go of her and then opened the passenger door.
"Get in."
Adeline knew she couldn't avoid it, so she reluctantly got into the car.
After Harrison also got in, she asked, "Mr. Thomson, you have to tell me where you're taking me."
"To sell you," Harrison said casually, fastening his seatbelt.
Adeline's mouth twitched.
She didn't expect Harrison to have the mood to joke around.
She decided not to ask, leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes to rest.
What could she do? She just let Harrison play chauffeur, and she would rest for a while.
Adeline didn't expect that she would fall asleep.
When they stopped at a red light, Harrison brought the car to a halt.
He turned to look at the sleeping woman beside him, his heart suddenly softening.
She worked hard.
Shouldn't he treat her better?
Adeline was awakened by Harrison.
She groggily opened her eyes and then looked out the car window to see an impressive building.
"The Thomson family?" Adeline suddenly woke up. "Mr. Thomson, why did you bring me here?"
"For dinner," Harrison said lightly, dropping these two words but making Adeline's scalp tingle.
Why on earth would he bring her to the Thomson family for dinner?
"Mr. Thomson, this isn't appropriate," Adeline said dryly.
"There's nothing inappropriate about it," Harrison replied, undoing his seatbelt. "Get out of the car."
Adeline couldn't stay in the car, so she reluctantly undid her seatbelt and got out, following Harrison inside.
"Mr. Thomson..."
"Don't overthink it. My grandfather just wants to meet you, so l brought you here for dinner," Harrison said casually.
Adeline wondered if she was imagining it, but she felt like there was a hint of gentleness in his voice.
Then again, she felt that gentleness didn't seem to fit him.
