Chapter 76: Issue with the Ointment
Adeline roughly understood what was going on.
She glanced at Eleanor, who had been crying, and then at the ointment on the coffee table.
This ointment was the one she bought for Eleanor yesterday.
"Sidney, don't talk nonsense!" Eleanor immediately rebuked, "This has nothing to do with Ms. Hensley."
"How does it have nothing to do with her? Eleanor, your face only became like this after using this ointment. Didn't you say Ms.
Hensley bought it for you? She must be the one who harmed you!" Sidney said indignantly.
Eleanor hesitated and said, "Well, yes, the ointment is indeed from her, but I believe Ms. Hensley wouldn't do such a thing."
After speaking, she looked cautiously at Harrison again.
Harrison frowned, looking very displeased.
"Eleanor, you can't just trust her! " Sidney continued, "We all know how important your face is. Yesterday, because your face was swollen from being hit, you didn't even dare to use skincare products when you came back, just the ointment Ms. Hensley bought.
And now, your face doesn't look right in the morning, and it's even worse in the afternoon. There must be something wrong with this ointment!"
After saying that, Sidney turned to Harrison again and said, "Mr. Thomson, she's about to become the spokesperson for the Thomson Group's products. She's going to take photos in a few days. But now her face has turned like this. You have to give her fair treatment!"
After Sidney finished speaking, she glared fercely at Adeline as if Adeline were truly the one who harmed Eleanor.
Eleanor quickly said to Harrison, " Harrison, don't be angry with Ms. Hensley for my sake. She definitely didn't do it on purpose."
On the surface, she was speaking up for Adeline, but in reality, she was directly accusing Adeline.
Adeline immediately said, "Mr. Thomson, after I bought the ointment from the pharmacy yesterday, I didn't open it and brought it back immediately. I didn't tamper with it in any way."
"But we don't know what happened in between. Are we supposed to just take your word for it?" Sidney said aggressively.
Adeline looked at her calmly and said, "Then may I ask, do you have any evidence that harmed Ms. Fraser? I indeed bought the ointment, but firstly, it's still uncertain whether there's a problem with it. Secondly, even if there is indeed an issue with the ointment, it doesn't prove that I tampered with it. After all, this ointment has been out of my hands for over twenty hours."
"You!"
For a moment, Sidney couldn't think of anything to retort Adeline.
She could only sneak a glance at Eleanor.
Seeing Eleanor signaling to Harrison, Sidney immediately turned to him, wanting to say something.
But she met Harrison's cold gaze instead.
Startled, Sidney dared not say anything.
Eleanor cursed Sidney's uselessness in her heart.
She lowered her gaze and said to Harrison in a subdued voice, "Harrison, it's fine. Don't investigate this matter further. Just find a way to heal my face, so it won't delay the job."
"No," Harrison and Adeline said simultaneously.
After speaking, they glanced at each other.
Eleanor gritted her teeth inwardly.
Those two seemed quite in sync.
Harrison said first, "You're a star, often appearing on screen.
If we don't investigate this matter thoroughly, similar incidents might happen again in the future."
Adeline added, "Since your assistant insists it's me who harmed you, I think it's better to clarify the matter, so it can clear my name. And everyone won't assume I'm the culprit behind your injury."
Eleanor looked at her, a hint of coldness in her eyes.
But she quickly said, "Harrison, Ms. Hensley, you're right. Let's investigate this matter thoroughly."
She then said to Harrison, "Harrison, no matter what the outcome is, please don't be angry, and don't do anything to others for my sake."
"I know what to do," Harrison said calmly.
"Your face is important. Let's first go to the hospital for a check-up."
"I don't want to go to the hospital. It would be terrible if someone saw me there," Eleanor said nervously. "Harrison, can't we skip the hospital?"
"Fine," Harrison said. "I'll have the doctor come here to examine you."
Adeline didn't know if she had thought too much.
She just felt that Harrison's tone towards Eleanor was unexpectedly gentle.
She lowered her gaze, her fingers tightening, nails almost digging into her flesh.
What was going on with Eleanor's face?
Was this another trap aimed at Adeline?
If so, was Eleanor the one setting it up?
Adeline dared not be sure whether
Harrison would believe her.
Last time with the product leak incident, Harrison seemed to distrust her.
Moreover, this time, the victim was his beloved girl.
The doctor Harrison called was the Thomson family's private physician.
Except for the Thomson family members, this was the first time he had treated an outsider.
The doctor brought along some nurses and equipment.
When he saw Eleanor, he couldn't help but gasp in shock.
"How did her face end up like this?" asked the doctor.
Eleanor pouted in frustration.
After examining Eleanor, the doctor said, "It seems to be caused by medication. It will require further examination to determine how long it will take to recover."
"Doctor, do you think this ointment is to blame?" Sidney immediately handed the ointment to the doctor.
The aoctor took it ana examined it, saying, "No, this ointment is very effective, and its properties are mild. Even people with sensitive skin can use it. Logically, after Ms. Fraser's face swelled, applying this ointment should have reduced the swelling quickly, not resulted in what it is now."
"But what if someone added something else to this ointment?" Sidney persisted.
The doctor paused and said, "Well, in that case, it's possible that it could have caused damage to Ms. Fraser's face, but..."
"Doctor, could you please test the ointment to see if anything else has been added to it?" Sidney requested.
The doctor nodded, "Of course."
The doctor took the ointment for testing.
Adeline remained calm throughout, not showing the nervousness Eleanor had imagined.
Eleanor sneered inwardly, "Why is she so composed?"
Of course, this wasn't Adeline's doing.
But would Harrison believe her?
Was Adeline so sure that Harrison would trust her?
While she pondered, Eleanor put on a sympathetic expression and said to Sidney, "Sidney, why must you insist on this? It's not something good. Why do we have to force an outcome?" .
"Eleanor, you're kind-hearted, but we must find out who harmed you. Otherwise, they might continue to harm you in the future." Sidney argued.
Just as she finished speaking, she suddenly heard Adeline chuckle lightly.
