One night stand with my president(chapter 89)

Chapter 89: Trying to Stoke Conflict

Eleanor couldn't become an international star on looks alone.

She did have some acting skills.

Unfortunately, her acting skills were useless in Adeline's eyes.

"Ms. Fraser, we both know perfectly well what happened yesterday." Adeline looked at her calmly. "Sidney isn't innocent, but she's not the mastermind."

Eleanor looked at her and suddenly sneered.

Then she lowered her voice and asked, "But what difference does that make? Even if you say that, who will believe it? A female star risking her face like that? It's impossible, isn't it? Of course, the most important thing is, do you think Harrison would do anything to me for your sake? Would he dare? Do you think he didn't see what happened yesterday? Yet, he still indulges me, doesn't he?"

Adeline smiled and said, "If you were so confident, you wouldn't have come here today, let alone say these things in front of me."

"You..."

Eleanor's expression suddenly changed.

Adeline's words truly struck a chord with her.

Her face was like this, yet she still risked going out. It was because she lacked confidence and desperately wanted to see Harrison to mend their relationship.

Eleanor thought, "This despicable woman!"

Seeing that Eleanor looked like she wanted to tear her apart, Adeline felt a bit uneasy. She was about to say something when she suddenly heard footsteps.

Both she and Eleanor turned to look.

The person entering was Myra.

She looked at them both with a grim expression.

Adeline immediately stood up and called out, "Ma'am."

Eleanor also realized and opened her mouth, calling out, "Mrs. Thomson."

She had met Myra before.

Five years ago, Myra had always been cold towards Eleanor.

Now it seemed it was still the same.

Myra glanced at the two of them and asked, "What are you two doing here?"

"Harrison is sick," Eleanor quickly replied. "I've come to take care of him."

She was claiming all the credit for herself.

Adeline didn't bother arguing with her, simply saying, "Mr. Thomson has taken his medicine and is already asleep."

Myra wasn't stupid. Hearing what they said, she understood.

She had called Alex this morning and learned about Harrison's illness, so she rushed over here.

She didn't expect to find both Adeline and Eleanor here.

She didn't like either of them.

"I'll go upstairs to see Harrison," Myra said.

With that, Myra headed upstairs.

Adeline didn't stop her.

Myra was different from Eleanor.

She was Harrison's mother.

Even if she went to see Harrison, she would surely be careful not him.

After Myra went upstairs, Eleanor sneered, "It seems Mrs. Thomson doesn't like you."

Adeline found her inexplicable.

"I am Mr. Thomson's secretary. I treat his mother with respect.

There's no need to try to win her favor," Adeline said coldly. "As for what you want to do, that's your business. You don't need to report it to me."

Eleanor didn't believe that Adeline had any illusions about herself.

After a while, Myra came back downstairs.

Eleanor greeted her warmly and said, "Mrs. Thomson, would you like something to drink? Let me prepare it for you."

Myra sat down on the sofa and gave her a faint glance, asking, "It seems Ms. Fraser is quite familiar with this place?"

"Um... No.”

How could Eleanor say in front of Adeline that this was her first time here?

"No need, I didn't come to drink," said Myra.

Eleanor found herself at a loss, so she stood awkwardly aside.

"Why are you wearing a mask indoors?" Myra asked again.

"My face is injured," Eleanor said with her head down. "Someone hurt me."

She intentionally didn't say who the culprit was, but Myra's gaze fell on Adeline.

Adeline had wanted to quietly lower her profile since Myra didn't like her.

But Eleanor had to stir up trouble.

She didn't want to argue with Eleanor, but it didn't mean she'd let others cast aspersions on her.

"She's hurt by her assistant," Adeline said.

"Let me see your face," Myra said.

"It's quite frightening, Mrs.

Thomson, don't be alarmed," Eleanor said, taking off the mask from her face.

After looking at her face, Myra clicked her tongue and said, "This injury is quite serious indeed. Have you seen a doctor?"

"Yes. The doctor said it will recover in a few days."

"That's good. Your face is your livelihood. It can't be ruined."

Eleanor was stunned for a moment.

While the words sounded like concern, Eleanor felt uncomfortable hearing them.

She could tell that Myra was implying that she was just eye candy.

"I have a very effective facial cream. I'll have someone send it to you later," Myra added.

Upon hearing this, Eleanor was happy.

"Thank you, Mrs. Thomson!"

After saying that, she glanced smugly at Adeline.

However, she didn't expect Myra to say to Adeline, "Ms. Hensley, your complexion doesn't look too good. Have you been working too hard lately?"

Adeline was startled and thought, " What's happening today? Myra is concerned about me?"

"I'm fine," Adeline said.

"Once Harrison starts working, he forgets everything else. As his chief secretary, you must be working hard, right? If you're too tired, come to me, and I'll teach him a lesson for you," Myra said with a loving smile on her face, as if she cared about Adeline.

Adeline looked at Myra and vaguely understood something.

However, she didn't show it on her face. She just smiled faintly and said, "I understand. Thank you, Ma'am."

Myra intentionally did this just to incite conflict between Eleanor and Adeline.

By then, whoever Myra wanted Harrison to marry would be the beneficiary.

Unfortunately, Eleanor couldn't see it and just glared at her fiercely.

Adeline didn't want to compete with Eleanor.

She just wanted to work until the year's end.

After thinking for a moment, Adeline stood up and said, "Ma'am, there are still some matters at the office. Since you and Ms.

Fraser are here, I'll take my leave."

Although Harrison didn't want her to leave, his mother had come. It shouldn't be Adeline's turn to take care of him.

"Hmm, go ahead." Myra didn't stop her.

After Adeline left, Eleanor tried to get closer to Myra.

However, Myra changed her expression completely, not saying a word to her, just looking down at her phone.

Eleanor felt frustrated but didn't dare to express it.
