One night stand with my president(chapter 77)

Chapter 77: No Right to Question My People

Her chuckle drew everyone's attention.

"Why chuckle?" Sidney asked irritably.

"Nothing, I was just thinking that Ms. Fraser's face has deteriorated to this extent, but when the doctor arrived, you were more concerned about having the doctor test the ointment instead of getting the doctor to determine Ms. Fraser's condition and whether it can still be salvaged or if immediate treatment is needed to prevent further deterioration. Quite interesting," Adeline said.

Eleanor's heart sank.

Sidney's expression stiffened.

But she quickly retorted, "That's because I want to know if Eleanor's condition is indeed caused by this ointment!"

"Well, that needs to be investigated, but priorities need to be sorted out. The ointment isn' t going anywhere. If it were me, l' d definitely have the doctor conduct further examinations to determine if there's anything wrong with my face first. After all, the face is crucial. What if delaying for a while worsens the condition?"

After speaking, Adeline smirked faintly.  "Unless I knew from the beginning that there's nothing seriously wrong with my face."

"Adeline, what nonsense are you talking about!" Sidney slammed the table.

"Sidney, mind your language," Eleanor said softly.

Then she added, "We just want to clarify the truth as soon as possible and clear Ms. Hensley's name. Ms. Hensley also said she wanted this matter investigated, didn't she?"

Adeline's lips curled coldly.

Investigating this matter was indeed necessary.

However, Harrison had called the doctor to examine Eleanor's face.

But when the doctor arrived, Eleanor didn't seem too concerned about her own face, instead allowing her assistant to urge the doctor to test the ointment first.

This seemed contradictory to her previous concern about her face...

"Ms. Hensley, don't try to divert the topic," Sidney said fiercely. “You should think about how to explain yourself if the doctor finds something wrong with the ointment."

"It's not my affair, so I have nothing to explain," Adeline said indifferently.

Sidney huffed.

She had wanted to say more, but seeing Eleanor signaling to her, she had to keep quiet.

Eleanor covered her face again with red eyes and said to Harrison, "Harrison, if my face is ruined, my acting career will be over.

You know, this has been my dream all along. If not for my dream, I wouldn't have gone abroad five years ago."

Harrison softened his voice as he said, "Don't worry. I'll do everything I can to get you treated."

"Harrison, you're so kind..."

Eleanor reached out to hold Harrison's hand.

Harrison calmly withdrew his hand, looking at Adeline

Adeline met his gaze calmly.

It wasn't her doing, so she had no reason to be nervous.

If Harrison didn't believe her, then she would clarify the matter.

After all, blaming others wouldn't solve anything.

Harrison seemed to want to say something to her.

But Adeline looked away and took out her phone.

"What are you doing?" Sidney immediately questioned.

Adeline lifted her gaze to Sidney.

"What, is there a rule against using phones here?"

"You're a major suspect now!" Sidney accused boldly. "Who knows what you want to do?"

"Do you have the right to designate me as a major suspect? If I've committed a crime, you can just call the police, but without any evidence, if you label me as a suspect, I can sue you for defamation," Adeline retorted.

"You..."

At this moment, Harrison suddenly snorted.

Then, he said to Eleanor, "Your assistant is too noisy. It seems she can't take good care of you. I' Il find you a more capable assistant another day."

Sidney's face turned pale.

Eleanor glanced at her, smiled kindly, and said, "Harrison, don't be like this. Sidney has been with me since we were abroad. She's very reliable. She's just too worried about me."

Harrison's expression remained cold as he said, "Ms. Hensley is my secretary. Since just now, she has been speaking ill of Ms.

Hensley. Is it that she wants to express her dissatisfaction with me through this?"

Sidney trembled in fear and quickly said, "Mr. Thomson, you've misunderstood! How could I have any dissatisfaction with you? I'm just too distressed seeing Eleanor's face..."

"I'm tired of this excuse," Harrison said.

"Regardless of who my people are, it's not your turn to question them."

"Yes, I understand." Sidney was now completely flustered.

Her only support was Eleanor, but now even Eleanor had to please Harrison. How could she dare to confront Adeline in front of Harrison?

After Harrison said this, Sidney didn't dare to harass Adeline further.

Adeline didn't bother with her and continued to text.

After a while, the doctor approached.

He frowned and said, "Mr. Thomson, Ms. Fraser, there are indeed traces of other drugs mixed into this ointment, and these substances are the main culprits behind Ms. Fraser's facial damage."

"So, the ointment does have a problem!" Sidney exclaimed excitedly.

But remembering Harrison's earlier words, Sidney didn't dare to say anything more to Adeline, just glaring at her fiercely.

Adeline remained impassive.

"Furthermore, we found traces of needle injections on the outer packaging of the ointment," the doctor added.

"Are you sure?" Harrison inquired.

"Yes."

When Eleanor heard the doctor's words, her eyes filled with tears.

She looked at Adeline and sobbed, " Ms. Hensley, I always thought you couldn't have harmed me, but l didn't expect it was you. If I've done something wrong, you could have just told me. Why did you have to ruin my face like this? Are you trying to ruin my career?"

Adeline remained silent. Eleanor continued, "Even if you don't care about me, as part of the Thomson Group, you should care about the company's interests, right? I’m about to become the spokesperson for the Thomson Group. This will affect the company. You've been Harrison's secretary for five years. Why aren't you considering him at all?"

"Ms. Fraser," Adeline replied calmly. "You're too quick to label me as the culprit, aren't you? I've already said that this ointment left my hands twenty hours ago. How can you be so certain that I did something to the ointment?"

"Of course, it's you!" Sidney couldn't help but interject.

"After you, no one else touched this ointment besides me and Eleanor. Who else could it be?"
