One night stand with my president(Chapter 92)

Chapter 92: Work More Important?

"Harrison, about yesterday, I feel like I need to explain..."

"Not necessary."

Harrison's words were ruthless, and he disregarded Eleanor's pale look.

"I'll say it one more time, leave.”

Eleanor's eyes reddened, her voice trembling as she said, "Okay... I know you're still mad at me. I won't bother you anymore." With that, she turned and left.

As the door closed, Harrison let out a long sigh.

The whole world finally quieted down.

At that moment, his phone screen suddenly lit up.

He glanced down.

Adeline had sent him a message.

[Mr. Thomson, are you awake?

Feeling any better?]

Harrison let out a cold snort, but his eyes betrayed his hidden excitement.

He immediately dialed her number.

Adeline quickly answered the call.

"Mr. Thomson, you're awake."

"Not only awake, but l've also finished my meal," Harrison said. " Though it wasn't the promised tomato egg spaghetti."

Adeline was speechless.

She vaguely sensed a hint of sarcasm in Harrison's words.

Before she could speak, Harrison continued, "And I remember telling someone not to leave this afternoon."

"Uh..." Adeline awkwardly said, "I saw that someone was taking care of you, so I thought you didn't need me, and I went back to the office."

Her words only added to the weight in Harrison's chest.

So if someone was taking care of him, she wasn't needed.

If he wanted, he could have a hundred people here to take care of him.

Yet she just passed him off to Eleanor.

It seemed she didn't care about him.

Harrison took a deep breath to calm the disappointment rising within him.

Hearing his deep breaths, Adeline thought he was suppressing his anger and hastily said, "I handled a lot of work this afternoon, regarding the new products..."

"Is work more important than me?" Harrison suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Adeline was confused.

Wasn't she Harrison's secretary?

Did he not want her to work properly?

He had helped her a lot before, and she wanted to work harder to repay him.

So Harrison's question left her unsure how to respond.

Harrison also realized his question was somewhat unreasonable.

He coughed slightly to cover his embarrassment.

Hearing him cough, Adeline instinctively asked, "Mr. Thomson, is your illness still severe? Are you still uncomfortable?"

Her concern was evident in her voice.

Harrison's mood improved slightly, and he deliberately coughed twice more before saying, "If someone hadn't broken a promise, I might have recovered faster."

Adeline was speechless.

This matter was definitely not going to be easily resolved.

After some consideration, Adeline asked, "So, are you coming to the office tomorrow? If you're still resting at home tomorrow, can I come to see you?"

"Why not come now?" Harrison frowned.

Adeline didn't know how to respond.

Myra and Eleanor were probably still there.

If she went over now, she wasn't sure how they would react.

Seemingly guessing her thoughts, Harrison casually said, "I'm home alone right now."

Adeline was taken aback.

Had Myra and Eleanor already Talk Tonight

"Bring me some cookies," he added. With a hint of menace, he added,"If I don't see you tonight, you're in trouble."

Before Adeline could reply, he hung up.

She looked at the dimming screen of her phone and sighed.

When Harrison was ill, he was intimidating, more intimidating than his usual serious demeanor at work.

Adeline had finished work for the day and was about to head home.

Thinking about Harrison demanding cookies, she hurried back home to prepare them.

After putting the cookies in the oven, she suddenly chuckled.

She couldn't believe that Harrison would eat the cookies she made.

It seemed so unlike his demeanor.

And she remembered that Harrison disliked sweet treats.

Just as she was about to prepare some pear syrup, she received another message.

It was from Millie.

"Adeline, my birthday is coming up soon. I've invited some friends to go to KTV to sing. Can you come and celebrate with us?"

A coldness flickered in Adeline's eyes.

But this time, she didn't ignore it like before.

Instead, she replied to the message.

[Using birthday as an excuse again? Last time, you said it was Mateo's birthday and asked me to go home. But what happened in the end?]

Millie quickly responded: [I know we were wrong last time, but I won' t do it again. It's my birthday in a few days, you know. If I wanted to harm you, I wouldn't use the same excuse, right? And last time, Mr. Thomson saved you. I want to improve our relationship for Mr. Thomson's sake too. Anyway, Mr. Thomson is someone I can't afford to offend, so l don't want to continue being enemies with you.]

Her words were quite sincere.

But Adeline felt that if she believed Millie's words, she'd be a fool.

However, since Millie had come to her doorstep, she couldn't just ignore her.

Now was the time to fight back.

So instead of outright refusing, Adeline replied: [I'll consider it.]

Millie seemed surprised.

"Okay, Adeline, if you decide to come, just let me know. I hope to have you by my side on my birthday."

Adeline's expression was cold.

She felt nauseous.

Meanwhile, Harrison was contemplating how to get Myra and Eleanor to leave.

Eleanor was easy to deal with, but Myra...

Suddenly, he had an idea.

He picked up his phone and made a call.

On the other end, Lorenzo's kind voice was heard.

"Harrison, why are you suddenly calling me?"

"Grandpa, can you do me a favor?"

"Do we need to be so polite? What do you need? Just fire away," Lorenzo said.

"My mom is here with me now. Can you come up with an excuse to send her away?" Harrison asked.

Lorenzo laughed, "That's no problem at all. But why do you want me to send your mom away? Who's going to visit you later?"

"Grandpa, please," Harrison pleaded.

"You rascal, even if you didn't say it, I already know," Lorenzo said. "Don't worry, I'll call your mom right away. I won't let her disturb your time with Ms. Hensley."
