Chapter 98: Arranging a Position for Her
"Ms. Lawson, this is Mr. Thomson," Rowen said.
"I know." Amber nodded, her face flushed.
After speaking, she glanced at Harrison, then quickly averted her eyes as if feeling shy.
Her demeanor seemed as if something had truly happened between her and Harrison.
"Ms. Lawson, can you please recount the events of that night in detail?" Harrison asked.
Amber blushed even more and said softly, "Well, I could, but if I have to go into details, how can I talk about such things in front of strangers?"
With that, she glanced at Rowen and then at Adeline.
Harrison said, "You two should leave."
Adeline had no choice but to leave the room with Rowen.
Standing at the doorway, Adeline looked gloomy.
Rowen thought she might be upset or jealous about Harrison and Amber, so he tried to comfort her, saying, "Ms. Hensley, don't overthink it. What happened that night was just an accident. Mr. Thomson doesn't even know her, let alone have any feelings for her."
Adeline asked, "Rowen, can you send me Amber's information?"
"Of course," Rowen replied.
Rowen fiddled with his phone for a moment and sent Amber's information to Adeline's phone.
Adeline took a look.
Amber was an only child from a well-off family, but about two years ago, her parents' company faced layoffs, and unfortunately, both of them were let go.
At their age, finding suitable employment wasn't easy.
Her father was devastated and occasionally took odd jobs, but most of the time, he stayed home, drinking and sometimes becoming violent towards her mother, who cried every day at home.
Adeline thought that Amber had probably quit university to work as a waitress to support her family
She was indeed a pitiful lady.
However, every time Adeline thought about Amber impersonating the woman from that night, Adeline forced herself to harden her heart.
She didn't know Amber's true intentions and couldn't afford to let her guard down.
"Has she been in contact with anyone unusual recently?" Adeline asked.
"I've checked, and no. During this time, she has only been in contact with people who were already around her," Rowen said.
After saying this, he realized something and asked, "Ms. Hensley, do you suspect that Amber isn't the woman from that night and that she approached Mr. Thomson for some other reason?"
Adeline nodded, adding, "I'm sorry. I didn't doubt your abilities."
If Amber knew about the intimate birthmark on Harrison's thigh, it was normal that Rowen would inform Harrison of that.
Rowen waved his hand, saying, "I understand. I don't mind at all. I' m just thinking, if she wasn't the woman from that night, how would she know about it? And most importantly, how would she know about the private birthmark on Mr. Thomson's thigh?"
That was also the point of Adeline's confusion.
To be honest, she had been with Harrison for five years, but before that night, she didn't know about the birthmark on his thigh.
How could someone like Amber, who had no connection to him, know about it?
Adeline looked through Amber's information again but couldn't find any clues.
Feeling somewhat powerless, she leaned against the wall, closed her eyes, and continued to ponder her next move.
What if she told Harrison that she was the woman from that night now? What would happen?
But she had missed her chance.
Now that Amber had already mentioned the birthmark on Harrison's leg, Adeline had no evidence to prove that she was the woman from that night.
For a moment, Adeline wondered if it would be better to just let it go.
After all, she didn't want Harrison to know it was her that night.
Climbing into his bed as his secretary was a taboo for Harrison.
Now that Amber had appeared and solved her dilemma, wasn't that good?
But soon, Adeline dismissed the thought.
She couldn't allow a time bomb like Amber to stay close to Harrison just for her own sake.
Adeline had to find out what was going on with Amber.
"Ms. Hensley, are you alright?" Rowen looked at her, thinking she was upset about Harrison and Amber.
He wanted to comfort her, but being a straight guy who had never been in a relationship, he didn't know what to say.
After a while, Harrison and Amber came out of the room.
Harrison's expression was calm, while Amber's cheeks were flushed.
Rowen glanced at her, then looked at Harrison.
"Mr. Thomson."
Harrison nodded slightly and then said to Adeline, "Arrange a position for Ms. Lawson in the CEO's office."
Adeline was stunned for a moment.
But she quickly responded, "Yes.”
"And arrange accommodation for her."
After saying that, Harrison walked away.
Rowen glanced at Adeline before following Harrison out.
Amber walked up to Adeline, smiling, "You must be Ms. Hensley, right? We'll be working together from now on. Please take care of me."
With that, she reached out her hand to Adeline.
Adeline glanced at her and shook her hand with a smile.
"Ms. Lawson, it's my pleasure."
Harrison actually let Amber join the CEO's office.
Was it Amber's initiative?
"Ms. Hensley, where will I be staying?" Amber blinked innocently.
"Follow me," Adeline said.
Adeline quickly arranged a luxury apartment for Amber to move into.
After all, it was Harrison's order, and Harrison was footing the bill.
Once inside the apartment, Amber's eyes lit up.
"I can live here from now on?"
"Yes," Adeline smiled. "If you need anything, feel free to contact me."
"There's not much I need, just..."
Amber pulled Adeline to sit on the sofa and asked, "Ms. Hensley, you've been with Mr. Thomson for a long time, haven't you? Do you know what Mr. Thomson likes and dislikes?"
Before Adeline could answer, she continued shyly, "Although Mr. Thomson and I haven't formally established that kind of
relationship yet, he has said that he wouldn't ignore me. To be honest, Ms. Hensley, I know my identity, and I don't dare to aspire to Mr. Thomson. Even if I can only stay by his side for a while, I would be satisfied."
Adeline asked, "You're so devoted to him after just one night, even though he wasn't in his right mind?"
"Even though it was just one night, how can one not love such an outstanding man like Mr. Thomson?" Amber said with a dreamy expression. "I'm just so fortunate that my first time could be with him."
