One night stand with my president(Chapter 109)

Chapter 109: Never Surrenders

It seemed that Harrison didn't like Adeline having any contact with Russell.

And it wasn't because he was worried she'd leak company secrets to Russell.

So why was he acting this way?

Thinking about what he said and did when he was drunk last night, Adeline couldn't help but start considering possibilities she'd never dared to before.

"If there's nothing else, you can go" Harrison said.

Adeline nodded and added, "Mr. Thomson, there's an auction at 2 in the afternoon."

"Yes, I know."

Adeline was about to leave when she heard Harrison say, "Ms. Hensley, I owe you a favor for last night."

"Don't mention it, Mr. Thomson," Adeline smiled faintly. "You've helped me a lot lately."

With that, Adeline left.

After the door closed, Harrison felt a tinge of disappointment.

He had hoped to use this "favor" to spend more time with Adeline outside of work.

But with her polite response, he was at a loss for what to do.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the office door.

Thinking it was Adeline, Harrison immediately said, "Come in."

The door opened.

But it was Amber who walked in.

A cold look flashed in Harrison's eyes.

"What is it?" Harrison asked coldly.

"Mr. Thomson, you came back to the office late today. I was worried," Amber said with concern. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes, just didn't sleep well last night," Harrison replied.

"Would you like me to get you some coffee?" Amber offered.

"No need, you just started in the CEO's office. You should focus more on your work," Harrison said calmly. "Didn't you tell me before that working in the CEO's office at the Thomson Group was your dream?"

Amber smiled and said, "Of course, but I can't help but care about you when I see you."

"Is that so?" Harrison said with a half-smile.

"That's considerate of you."

Amber was about to say something when Harrison said again, "I heard you had excellent grades in university but had to drop out due to family issues. If you want, I can cover your expenses so you can return to school and then come back to work here after you graduate."

"No need, Mr. Thomson," Amber replied immediately.

"Why not?" Harrison asked, "Don't you want to continue your studies?"

Before, Amber would have wanted to return to school.

But now that she was close to Harrison, she couldn't bear to leave.

If she returned to school, she was afraid that she couldn't work by Harrison's side when she graduated.

Amber couldn't miss this opportunity.

Amber said with a bitter smile, "I’ve been away from school too long. I don't feel the same drive to return. I'd rather stay by your side, Mr. Thomson."

Harrison's eyes deepened as he looked at her.

Amber felt uneasy under his gaze.

She had no idea what Harrison was thinking.

Soon, Harrison said again, "If you don't want to go back to school, then stay here and work hard."

"Thank you, Mr. Thomson," Amber sighed in relief.

"You can leave now," Harrison said.

Watching Amber leave, Harrison thought of the shock and anger on Eleanor's face when she saw Amber last night.

Even though Eleanor was an actress, her reaction was genuine.

Eleanor had needled Amber throughout dinner, indicating they didn't know each other.

So, who had sent Amber?

Was it Kaylie?

Knowing Harrison still had dirt on her, would Kaylie be bold enough to plant someone by his side?

If not Kaylie...

Harrison's lips curled into a cold smile.

Maybe Amber was sent by someone unexpected.

In the afternoon, Adeline and Harrison arrived at the auction venue.

The auction was for the development rights of a new commercial district, a hotly contested prize among major companies, including the Thomson Group.

As soon as they got out of the car, they ran into Russell.

Harrison glanced at Adeline.

But she was focused on her documents, seemingly unaware of Russell.

Just then, her phone rang, and she stepped aside to answer it.

Feeling a bit pleased, Harrison saw Russell approaching.

"Mr. Thomson." Russell greeted him and extended his hand.

Though reluctant, Harrison shook his hand out of politeness.

"Interested in the development rights for the new commercial district?" Russell asked.

"Of course," Harrison replied. "Otherwise, I wouldn't be here."

Russell smiled, "Then I guess I'll have to compete with you.”

Harrison's smile froze.

Hearing this, his expression immediately turned cold.

Looking at Russell's smiling face, Harrison suppressed the urge to punch him and said, "Is that so? Well, I never surrender what I want."

"We'll see," Russell said.

With a deep glance at Adeline, he walked into the venue.

After finishing her call, Adeline returned to find Harrison looking displeased.

"Mr. Thomson, is something wrong?" Adeline asked.

Harrison took a deep breath and said, "Nothing. Let's go in. We need to secure the development rights for the new commercial district."

As they walked in, Adeline said,"There are many competitors this time, all well-prepared. We're not guaranteed to win. If the bidding price exceeds our budget, it might not be good for the company."

"I know," Harrison said.

Hearing this, Adeline said no more.

She didn't realize that Harrison and Russell were competing not just for the auction, but also for her.

The auction had limited spots, and the seating was pre-arranged.

As soon as Adeline entered, she saw Russell.

Her seat was to the right of Russell's.

Harrison's seat was to her right.

So, she had to sit between the two of them.

Adeline's mouth twitched slightly.

Before sitting down, she could feel the tension emanating from Harrison.

Adeline's mouth twitched slightly.

Before sitting down, she could feel the tension emanating from Harrison.

She wondered if Russell noticed.

Russell glanced at Harrison with a complex expression.
