One night stand with my president(chapter 101)

Chapter 101: With Her Around, I'm at Ease

"Why will you think that way?" Harrison asked softly.

Adeline braced herself and said, "It made me a bit uneasy that you suddenly gave me such a valuable gift."

Previously, Harrison had her live in an expensive house, but it was just a place to stay, and the house didn't belong to her.

But now, Harrison was giving her an expensive sapphire necklace.

Adeline felt nervous holding it.

"Take it," Harrison said. "I don't plan to fire you or do anything else. I just thought this necklace suited you. It's not expensive to me."

His words hurt Adeline.

She was incredibly jealous of his wealth.

"Mr. Thomson, perhaps you should take the necklace back..."

"Take it," Harrison warned, his gaze sharp. "I don't take back gifts I gave."

Adeline said, "Alright then."

She nervously closed the box and took it out of the office.

At worst, she would just keep the necklace safe.

That way, if she needed to return it later, she wouldn't be caught off guard.

Finally giving the necklace to the person he liked, Harrison was very pleased.

When he was happy, he didn't know what to do.

So he called Sam again.

"Wow, Harrison, men in love are different. You've called me so many times today!" Sam exaggeratedly said. "What's up with your darling now?"

"Nothing special." Harrison tried to contain his excitement and keep his voice steady.

"She accepted the sapphire necklace I gave her."

"Which one? Don't tell me it's the one you got at the auction?" Sam said.

"Yes."

"Wow!" Sam's voice was full of envy. "That necklace is worth millions! Harrison, we've been best friends since childhood, and you ve never given me anything that expensive! I'm so jealous."

"Stop whining," Harrison smiled slightly.

"Gather everyone. Dinner' s on me tonight. You pick the place."

"Alright! Get ready, we're going to make you pay dearly," Sam said.

With that, Sam hung up and started contacting others.

Adeline walked out of the executive office with a velvet box in her hand, seen by everyone in the office.

Near the end of the workday, many had finished their tasks, so someone started a new gossip group chat.

Of course, Adeline wasn't in the group.

"Guys, did you see Ms. Hensley come out of Mr. Thomson's office holding something?"

"Of course, I saw it. It was a velvet box! It looked very high-end. Whatever was inside must be expensive."

"Do you think Mr. Thomson gave it to Ms. Hensley, or is she supposed to give it to someone else?"

"I saw Ms. Hensley put the box in her bag."

"That settles it! If it were for someone else, she wouldn't put it in her bag. She'd have wrapped it separately. So it must be a gift from Mr. Thomson to Ms. Hensley!"

"I wonder what it is. I'm dying to know!"

"Never mind what it is. I just want to know why Mr. Thomson gave Ms. Hensley a gift. Judging by the box, I bet it's jewelry. And we all know what it means when a man gives a woman jewelry."

"Huh? Does this mean there's something between Mr. Thomson and Ms. Hensley? I'm confused. I thought Mr. Thomson and Eleanor were a pair, then I thought there was something between Amber and Mr.

Thomson. Now it's Mr. Thomson and Ms. Hensley..."

Suddenly, a cute cat avatar appeared in the chat.

"Guys, this is Mr. Thomson's private matter. Let's not speculate. We’re here to work, right?"

Everyone was taken aback.

They thought this avatar looked unfamiliar.

A woman was internally wailing.

Amber had asked her some work-related questions earlier, so they added each other as friends.

When she added people to the group, she accidentally included Amber!

Harrison left the office and saw Adeline packing up to leave.

His first reaction was to look at her neck.

But he didn't see the sapphire necklace.

Understandably, wearing such a necklace at work would be too ostentatious.

With Adeline's personality, she would never do that.

"Mr. Thomson, are you leaving?"

"Yes."

Harrison nodded, then asked, "Are you leaving too?"

"Yes."

"Let's go together."

They entered the elevator together.

Just as the door was about to close, it reopened, and Amber walked in.

"Mr. Thomson, Ms. Hensley." Amber greeted them with a smile.

Adeline nodded slightly.

"How was your first day?" Harrison asked gently.

Amber replied softly, "It was good.

Everyone was very kind, especially Ms. Hensley. She was very patient. Without her, the colleagues wouldn't have accepted me so quickly. I'm very grateful to her."

Amber had figured out that Adeline held a high position in the executive office.

The employees would follow her lead.

But that made sense. After all, she was the chief secretary.

It wasn't a job just anyone could handle.

"Good," Harrison said. "Ms. Hensley has been with me for a long time and is very trustworthy. With her around, I'm at ease."

"Yes, indeed."

Amber then asked, "Mr. Thomson, do you have any plans tonight? I'd like to treat you to dinner."

She asked with her eyes slightly lowered, cheeks flushed, and voice soft. Normal men wouldn't refuse.

"I've already made plans with friends tonight," Harrison said.

"But if you're free, you can join”

"Really? I can meet your friends?

That's great!" Amber's eyes sparkled.

Harrison smiled faintly.

But when Amber wasn't looking, he glanced deeply at Adeline.

Adeline's lips were tightly pressed, and she looked unhappy.

The elevator reached the first floor, and Adeline said, "Mr. Thomson, I'll be going now."

She had to get off here, while Harrison and Amber were heading to the underground parking lot.

Watching her leave, Harrison suddenly asked, "Ms. Hensley, if you're free tonight, would you like to join us for dinner?"

Adeline stopped in her tracks, turned, and smiled at Harrison, but she still declined him.

"Sorry, Mr. Thomson, I have plans tonight."

With that, the elevator door slowly closed.
