Chapter 99: She Seems Jealous
Amber spoke with such sincerity.
If Adeline didn't know the truth, she might have been moved by her.
She smiled slightly, stood up, and said, "Ms. Lawson, it's getting late now. I'll take my leave. As for Mr. Thomson's likes and dislikes, you'll have plenty of time to get to know them in the CEO's office."
"Alright, Ms. Hensley, take care."
Amber escorted Adeline to the door.
As the door closed, the smile on Amber's face slowly faded.
She turned her head, looking at the spacious living room and luxurious furniture. A hint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes.
Walking to the sofa, she gently caressed it and said leisurely, "I never expected that I could live this kind of life. As long as I hold on to Mr. Thomson, I won't have to worry about the rest of my life."
After leaving the apartment, Adeline glanced back at the closed door.
Just now, she hadn't noticed any flaws while chatting with Amber.
Amber was too good at acting, and she was not a simple person.
So, Adeline must be extremely cautious.
In the morning, Adeline arrived at the company and found that Amber was already there.
She was sitting obediently in the lobby on the ground floor.
Seeing Adeline, she quickly stood up and said, "Ms. Hensley."
"Ms. Lawson," Adeline smiled.
"You're here so early."
"Today is my first day at work, and I didn't want to be late," Amber said, blushing again.
"Originally, I entered the group through the back door. If I don't work hard, others will not accept me."
Adeline noticed that Amber blushed easily.
And yet, it seemed like she was putting on an act.
Well, that could be considered a skill.
"Come upstairs with me."
Adeline led her to the CEO's office.
Several colleagues had already arrived, and upon seeing Adeline, they greeted her.
"Ms. Hensley, who is this?" Anna looked at Amber behind her, puzzled.
"This is..."
Before Adeline could introduce her, Amber smiled and said, "Hi. I'm Amber, and I'll be your colleague starting today."
Hearing this, everyone looked at Adeline with surprise.
Adeline smiled and said, "Ms.Lawson is the new assistant who joined us today. Please get along well with her in the future."
After Adeline finished speaking, her colleagues applauded her one after another.
Amber still had a smile on her face.
"Anna, could you show her around?" Adeline said.
"Sure."
Just as Anna was about to respond, Amber turned to Adeline and said, "Ms. Hensley, I'd like to learn from you. Is that Okay?"
After saying this, she smiled at Anna and added, "Anna, don't get me wrong. I'm not questioning your abilities, but since I met Ms.
Hensley yesterday, I feel somewhat reliant on her."
With Amber putting it that way, Anna couldn't say anything and could only nod.
Amber then asked Adeline, "Ms. Hensley, is it Okay?"
Adeline said, "Since that's the case, you can follow me for now. Your workstation is over there. You can go sit there first, and I'll bring you some materials to look at later."
"Okay, thank you, Ms. Hensley."
Amber went to her workstation, and Adeline sat down at her own desk, starting to organize some documents.
It wasn t yet time to start work, so Anna approached and asked quietly, "Ms. Hensley, who is Ms. Lawson? She seems to have a high status, parachuting into the CEO's office."
Adeline didn't want to say too much and just replied, "Just get along with her well in the future and avoid conflicts."
She was afraid that Amber might cause trouble and disturb the peace of the CEO's office.
With that said, Anna understood.
"Don't worry, Ms. Hensley. I'll convey this to the others in the CEO's office."
After saying that, Anna turned and went back to her own desk.
Adeline soon finished organizing some materials and placed them on
Amber's desk.
"You can take a look at these materials today. If you have any questions, come to me."
"Okay, thank you, Ms. Hensley," Amber said.
After a while, Harrison arrived.
Seeing him, Adeline felt a slight pang in her heart.
Instead of entering the office directly as usual, Harrison surveyed the CEO's office, and his gaze finally fell on Amber.
At that moment, Amber was engrossed in reading the materials and seemed not to notice Harrison's arrival.
However, Harrison's gaze didn't linger on her for long before he entered his office.
Adeline, in a complex mood, went to the pantry to brew a cup of coffee and took it into Harrison's office.
Just as she placed the coffee on his desk, she heard Harrison say, " She's just arrived at the CEO's office and doesn't know anything. Teach her a few things."
Although he didn't explicitly mention who he was referring to, Adeline knew he meant Amber.
Adeline couldn't help but ask, "Mr.
Thomson, are you sure she's the woman from that night?"
Harrison looked up at her. "Is there something suspicious?"
Adeline couldn't withstand his gaze.
But she quickly calmed down and said, "I just feel that her sudden appearance is somewhat suspicious."
Harrison remained silent, and Adeline continued, "I know she can tell a lot, and some of it even involves your privacy, so it seems very credible. But I still hope you will be cautious of her, for the sake of the Thomson Group, and... for you."
"Hmm, I see," Harrison said.
There was no expression on his face, and Adeline wasn't sure if he was angry.
But she had to say these things.
Adeline glanced over today's schedule again and then left.
After she left, a faint smile appeared on Harrison's lips.
Harrison thought, "Was Adeline feeling a little jealous?"
Unable to resist, he picked up his phone and called Sam.
At this hour, Sam was still in bed..
He didn't answer the first call.
So, Harrison dialed again.
After a while, Sam groggily answered the phone.
"Bro, give me a break. I was up late last night partying. Just woke up."
Harrison said, "I need to share something with you."
"What's up?" Sam asked, still groggy. "Did Ms. Hensley confess her love to you?"
Harrison chuckled. "No, not that. But it seems like she's a bit jealous."
"Jealous of what? Your relationship with Eleanor?"
"No."
Harrison briefly recounted the events of last night to Sam.
Surprised, Sam woke up completely and sat up in bed. "You found that woman already? That was quick.”
"Yeah," Harrison replied, his gaze turning slightly serious.
But soon, he brightened up again, repeating what Adeline had said just now to Sam.
Sam mused, "Well, could it be that Ms. Hensley is just considering things from the perspective of a loyal subordinate, looking out for her boss?"

Harrison raised an eyebrow.
