One night stand with my president(chapter 90)

Chapter 90: He Doesn't Want to get recovered

Adeline left Harrison's house and stood by the roadside waiting for the bus.

It was a bit of a distance from here to the subway station, so she needed to take the bus first.

But before the bus arrived, a car pulled up in front of her.

The window rolled down, revealing

Russell sitting inside.

"Ms. Hensley?"

Adeline was lost in thought, but upon hearing someone calling her, she looked up.

"Mr. Hunter." Adeline greeted him with a polite smile. "What a coincidence. What brings you here?"

"I live nearby, Russell replied.

Adeline remembered this area was a well-known affluent neighborhood, so it wasn't surprising for Russell to live here.

"You're heading to the office, right?" Russell asked. "Hop in. I'll give you a ride."

"I don't want to trouble you, Mr. Hunter," Adeline hurriedly declined. "The bus will be here soon."

Russell chuckled, his gaze inexplicably meaningful as he looked at her.

"Ms. Hensley, it seems like you want to keep your distance from me."

"I don't want to take up your time," Adeline said with a smile.

Hearing this, Russell didn't insist further and drove away.

Watching the car drive off, Adeline sighed.

On such a cold day, she would have loved to save time and effort by accepting Russell's offer, but for both propriety and personal reasons, she couldn't get into his car.

Meanwhile, Russell, who was driving away, was filled with loneliness.

He had inquired and found out Adeline didn't have a boyfriend.

She deliberately said those words to him that day.

She was so clever, so she must have noticed his feelings.

And she wanted him to give up on her.

Now she even refused to get in his car.

She truly didn't want to give him any chance.

Russell suddenly felt a tinge of jealousy towards Harrison.

Despite being Adeline's boss, Harrison could see her whenever he wanted.

If only Adeline had applied for a job at the Hunter Group.

Lost in thought, Russell couldn't believe he was also thinking "if" and smiled wryly.

He remembered that the first time he saw Adeline was at a business forum.

Adeline was with Harrison at the time.

She was just a junior assistant, flustered, and even spilled water on Harrison.

Logically, such an assistant could be quite annoying.

But seeing her red eyes and her efforts to remain composed, Russell suddenly felt she would achieve great things in the future.

Later, he saw her again when the Hunter Group and the Thomson Group collaborated.

By then, she had become Harrison's chief secretary, handling various tasks efficiently by his side.

Russell knew then that his initial assessment was correct.

At the same time, he was surprised that after several years, he could still recognize her at a glance.

Russell snapped back to reality, suddenly realizing a strange question.

Back then, when Adeline was so flustered, Harrison still kept her around.

Although his interactions with Harrison weren't extensive, he could tell Harrison was not one to tolerate incompetence.

So how could Harrison keep Adeline, who was all thumbs back then?

Harrison slept for the whole afternoon.

When he woke up, he felt much better, just a bit thirsty.

Sensing someone nearby, he assumed it was Adeline and asked, "Could you pour me some water?"

There was an immediate response, and soon a gentle voice rang out.

"Harrison, drink some water."

In that instant, Harrison, who was still groggy, suddenly became alert.

That wasn't Adeline's voice.

Adeline wouldn't call him "Harrison" like that. Harrison sat up, and upon seeing Eleanor holding a glass of water by his bed, he frowned and looked cold.

"Harrison, what's wrong?" Eleanor asked, puzzled. "

The water is warm. Drink some.

Drink some. Your lips look dry."

Harrison didn't take the glass from her; instead, he asked, "Where's Ms. Hensley?"

Eleanor's hand holding the glass stiffened for a moment.

Then she smiled and said, "Ms. Hensley left at noon."

"Left? Who allowed her to leave?"

Eleanor innocently replied, "No one asked her to leave. After I arrived, Ms. Hensley said it was enough for me to take care of you, and she left because there was work at the office."

Harrison clenched his fists tightly and thought. "Adeline, how dare you!"

He told her not to leave in the afternoon.

But the moment Eleanor arrived, she was in such a hurry to leave.

Was she trying to push him towards Eleanor?

After his anger subsided, Harrison felt a bitter pang in his heart.

"Harrison, what's wrong?" Eleanor sat down beside the bed. "Though Ms. Hensley isn't here, I'm with you. I'll take care of you until you recover."

"No need," Harrison said coldly.

"You can leave now."

His illness wasn't as severe as the last time.

By now, he was feeling much better.

But waking up without seeing Adeline made him feel irritated.

He didn't want to recover.

Eleanor wanted to say something more, but seeing Harrison's cold expression, she swallowed her words.

"Then remember to drink some water."

Eleanor finished speaking, placed the glass of water aside, and left.

Outside the room, Eleanor was so angry she wanted to throw something, but there was nothing around for her to vent her frustration on. She ended up kicking the wall hard in frustration.

Just then, she turned and saw Myra walking up the stairs.

Myra was carrying a tray with oatmeal and a few side dishes.

She was looking at Eleanor with a smirk.

Eleanor's face flushed with embarrassment. She knew Myra must have seen her outburst just now, making her feel extremely awkward.

"Mrs. Thomson, did you make these yourself? They look delicious. Let me take them in for you," Eleanor offered, reaching out for the tray.

"No need," Myra immediately evaded her and then entered Harrison's room with the tray.

Harrison was holding his phone, contemplating calling Adeline.

He wanted to ask her why she didn't keep her promise. Why did she leave as soon as Eleanor arrived?

Was this heartless woman not concerned about him at all?

After all, he had waited for her to wake up yesterday!

"Harrison.”

Upon hearing Myra's voice, Harrison looked towards the door.

"Mom, you're here too?"

"I knew you were sick, and I couldn't rest assured," Myra said.

"You've slept all afternoon. Are you hungry? Come, I've cooked some oatmeal for you."

Harrison glanced at the tray.

Whether it was the oatmeal or the side dishes, they were all carefully prepared by Myra and looked delicious

But suddenly, he remembered that Adeline had promised to cook tomato and egg spaghetti for him tonight.
