One night stand with my president(chapter 80)

Chapter 80: Cry if You Want to

Just as she was drifting off, a cold hand was placed on her forehead.

Adeline instinctively opened her eyes, meeting Harrison's deep gaze.

"Mr. Thomson..."

"You have a slight fever," Harrison said calmly, removing his hand.

No wonder she felt dizzy earlier.

She had a fever.

Adeline shook her head and sat up straight.

"I'm fine."

"You call having a fever fine?" Harrison frowned. "You're not an iron man."

Actually, Adeline was quite healthy and didn't get sick often.

Occasionally falling ill, she usually recovered after a good night's sleep.

She was about to reassure Harrison when she heard him instruct the driver, "To Shurford Residence."

"Yes, Mr. Thomson."

Adeline attempted to protest, "Mr.

Thomson, I still have some work to finish today."

She didn't like leaving today's tasks for tomorrow.

But as soon as she said that, Harrison's expression darkened.

"Is work more important than your health? Adeline, are you always this careless about your well-being?" His voice carried a hint of anger.

Adeline was speechless.

Well, it was better if she stayed silent.

She should not further provoke him.

Seeing Adeline lower her head, Harrison softened a bit.

She had been a bit prickly lately, but now she seemed oddly obedient.

However, Harrison knew it was only temporary.

"Everyone encounters various situations," Harrison said. "I know you're diligent, but it's not a heinous crime to slack off a bit when you're sick. The work left unfinished today can be delegated to someone else, or you can do it tomorrow."

Adeline wanted to chuckle at his words.

She felt like Harrison was reciting scripture.

But she dared not say it aloud.

Harrison noticed her slight smirk and asked, "What's amusing?"

"Hmm? Nothing," Adeline innocently replied.

"I didn't laugh, Mr. Thomson. You must be mistaken."

Harrison chuckled.

But considering she was sick today, he decided not to argue further.

After arriving at Shurford Residence, Adeline got out of the car.

Harrison accompanied her, even walking her to the door of her home.

"Mr. Thomson, I'm home," Adeline said.

"Thank you."

Seeing her polite demeanor, Harrison felt a bit stifled.

Harrison thought, "She has been set up again today. She must be feeling awful, right?"

Yet, she didn't show any signs of distress.

He'd rather she vented all her negative emotions than keep them bottled up.

"Do you have any fever-reducing medicine at home?" Harrison asked.

Adeline's eyes momentarily dulled.

Because she rarely fell ill, she didn't have any fever medicine at home.

Harrison could tell by her reaction.

He couldn't help but tap her head lightly and say, "No medicine at all?"

Adeline winced, holding her head in pain.

"I'm sick...”

"Knowing you're sick, hurry back home and rest."

With that Harrison turned and With that, Harrison turned and left.

Adeline watched him take the elevator before entering her house and closing the door.

After drinking a glass of warm water and changing into pajamas, she lay down on the bed, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.

She felt her head getting dizzier and knew she needed to sleep.

Just as Adeline was drifting off, she suddenly heard the bedroom door open.

Startled, she sat up halfway and looked towards the door.

It was Harrison.

Since she moved in, the door code hadn't been changed, so Harrison knew the code.

Adeline gradually calmed down, and she asked with confusion, "Mr. Thomson, why are you back?"

Harrison wanted to say he came back to bring medicine for her, but considering she was still sick, he refrained from saying it.

"I bought medicine for you. Take it before sleeping," Harrison said.

"You went to buy medicine for me just now?"

"Don't ask so many questions."

Harrison turned and left, returning shortly with a cup of water in one hand and two pills in the other.

He walked to the bedside and handed them to her.

"Take them," he ordered.

His tone sounded like he was commanding her to take poison.

Adeline couldn't help but smile faintly, then she sat up straight and took the water.

It was warm, just right for drinking.

Lowering her head, she looked at the mist rising from the cup, and her vision seemed to blur.

Just as Harrison was about to ask why she hadn't taken the pills, he suddenly noticed her eyes slightly red.

"What's wrong?" he asked, suddenly concerned. "Are you uncomfortable?"

"No."

Adeline shook her head, taking the pills with the water.

The medicine tasted bitter.

She wasn't someone who liked to cry.

Perhaps she felt particularly vulnerable when she was sick, so just now, she suddenly felt like crying.

However, after taking the medicine, she managed to hold back her emotions.

Seeing her tense, Harrison suddenly reached out and pinched her cheek.

Adeline winced. "Mr. Thomson, what are you doing?"

"Just cry if you want to," Harrison said. "Is there a rule against crying?"

His words instantly shattered the emotional stability Adeline had just regained.

Her tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

So much had happened recently.

Her emotions had been pent up for too long.

With this cry, Harrison was at a loss.

He had wanted her to cry to release her emotions.

But he hadn't expected her to cry this much!

She was sick. What if she cried herself into a worse state?

Harrison hurriedly took out a piece of candy from his pocket and handed it to Adeline.

"The medicine is bitter, right?" he asked gently. "Have a candy."

Adeline, tearfully, looked at the candy in his hand and asked, "Where did the candy come from?"

"I bought it earlier," Harrison said, trying to sound casual.

In fact, he had planned to buy candy when he bought the medicine, knowing how bitter it would be.

"Thank you, Mr. Thomson." Adeline took the candy from him.

Harrison chuckled, "Even at a time like this, you still say thank you."

With that, he took the cup from her and grabbed two more tissues, handing them to her.

"Wipe your tears."

Adeline took the tissues and wiped her tears, but once she started crying, she couldn't stop, and her tears flowed even more.

Adeline took the tissues and wiped her tears, but once she started crying, she couldn't stop, and her tears flowed even more.

Surprisingly, Harrison patiently continued to hand her tissues and took care to dispose of the used ones in the trash.

As Adeline cried, she suddenly realized something terrifying.
