One night stand with my president(chapter 88)

Chapter 88: Who Is More Important

Adeline was speechless.

So, Harrison loved cookies.

Well, that was a bit unexpected.

"Then I'll bake them for you whenever you want. Now, please go to sleep. Okay?"

Adeline patiently coaxed.

Harrison finally lay down.

But instead of closing his eyes, he said to Adeline, "You're not leaving this afternoon. I want tomato and egg spaghetti for dinner."

Adeline was taken aback. "But you said you didn't want any earlier?"

"That was then, not now."

Harrison started being naughty, and she had no way to deal with it.

He had already closed his eyes and started to sleep.

Adeline tucked him in and then sat on the chair, waiting for him to fall asleep before leaving.

Harrison knew she hadn't left yet.

He was somewhat reluctant to let go of this moment.

But he was genuinely ill and had taken medicine, so as soon as he closed his eyes, he fell asleep.

Adeline heard his breathing become steady, indicating he had fallen asleep.

She got up, about to leave quietly when she suddenly heard a voice downstairs.

"Harrison?"

Adeline hadn't closed the bedroom door tightly when she came in, so she could hear the voice from downstairs.

She instinctively turned back, relieved to see that Harrison hadn' t been disturbed. Adeline promptly walked out and shut the door behind her.

The person downstairs didn't get a response and continued,"Harrison, are you home?"

Adeline recognized the voice.

It was Eleanor.

She also heard Eleanor's footsteps coming up the stairs.

At this moment, Adeline felt conflicted.

Eleanor was Harrison's past love.

Would it be misunderstood if Eleanor saw her here?

She didn't care what Eleanor thought of her. She was only worried about upsetting Harrison and having him blame her.

But then she thought again, "I was just here to take care of Harrison, nothing more."

If she hid and was discovered by Eleanor, it would only make her look suspicious.

And now that Harrison was asleep, it wouldn't be good if Eleanor woke him up by coming upstairs.

So Adeline simply walked towards the staircase.

She had barely taken a few steps when she saw Eleanor coming up.

Eleanor was wearing a high-neck coat, with a mask and sunglasses.

Seeing Adeline, Eleanor paused, then removed her sunglasses and asked with a frown, "What are you doing here?"

She glanced behind Adeline.

Harrison's bedroom was likely on the second floor. Did Adeline just come out from there?

A flash of resentment passed through Eleanor's eyes.

"Mr. Thomson is ill," Adeline said truthfully. "His staff have been given leave, so I came to take care of him."

"Harrison is sick? I'll go check on him!" Eleanor said anxiously.

Adeline hurriedly said, "Mr. Thomson just fell asleep, Ms. Fraser. You should wait a bit."

Eleanor asked unhappily, "Ms. Hensley, what do you mean? You don t want me to see Harrison? What right do you have to do that?"

She thought it wise to smooth things over with Harrison.

Hearing that Harrison hadn't gone to work today, Eleanor thought he might be at home, so she came straight here.

But she hadn't expected to find

Adeline here.

And Adeline not allowing her to see Harrison made her furious.

Adeline was exasperated. She felt she had explained herself enough.

"Mr. Thomson has taken his medicine and just fell asleep. If we disturb him now, it might worsen his condition," Adeline said coldly. "If you don't believe me, you can go check. His room is right there."

Saying this, she pointed to Harrison's bedroom door.

Eleanor hesitated visibly.

After a moment, she huffed and turned to go downstairs.

Adeline didn't want to spend time with Eleanor, but she couldn't just barge into other rooms on the second floor. She had to leave and go to the living room.

Eleanor sat on the sofa in the living room, assuming the demeanor of a hostess.

Her gaze roamed freely over

Adeline.

Adeline didn't want to engage in conversation with Eleanor.

So she chose a sofa far away from Eleanor, took out her phone, and prepared to handle some work.

Harrison didn't want her to leave.

If he woke up and she wasn't there, he might get upset.

But she couldn't waste the whole afternoon here.

As for Eleanor, Adeline decided to ignore her.

However, Eleanor didn't want to be ignored.

She sneered and said, "Ms. Hensley, you have it tough. Not only are you Harrison's secretary at work, but you also have to come to Harrison's house to take care of him when he's sick."

Adeline replied, "Yeah."

Eleanor was angry.

She had intended to pick a fight, but she hadn't expected Adeline to respond like this.

Her anger couldn't be vented, and she got more upset.

Eleanor almost gritted her teeth as she continued, "But, Ms. Hensley, no matter how diligent you are, you're still just Harrison's secretary."

Adeline replied, "Oh."

She had been fed up with this kind of remark.

Surely Eleanor didn't think she was the first person to say this to her.

Eleanor was getting dizzy with anger.

She stood up abruptly, paced around the living room, and added, "It won't be long before I become the hostess of this place.

When Harrison first bought this place, he told me that he hoped one day I could be the hostess here. Although we have separated for many years, now, we've finally come back together."

Of course, Harrison had never said such a thing.

She made it up deliberately for Adeline to hear.

However, Adeline kept her head down, focused on her phone, and did not respond to Eleanor's words at all.

Adeline truly hadn't been paying attention to what Eleanor was saying because Anna had just sent her a document.

She was engrossed in reading it.

She wouldn't have the time or inclination to listen to Eleanor's prattling.

Yet her composed demeanor struck

Eleanor's heart hard.

Eleanor suddenly strode over to Adeline.

Adeline sensed her approach and glanced up.

Then, she saw Eleanor smile mysteriously.

"Adeline, one day, I'll make you see who is important in Harrison's heart.".

Eleanor's persistent annoyance was getting to Adeline.

She bluntly said,"Ms. Fraser, if you have nothing better to do, would you mind going for a run outside? I have work to attend to here."

After a pause, she added, "Or perhaps you'd like to discuss the matter of that ointment?"

Mentioning the ointment made Eleanor's expression tighten.

After all, she was feeling guilty.

But soon, she began to play her own role.

"What about the ointment? I'm the one who's suffered the most. Look at my face, it's still not healed. What wouldn't I dare to talk about?"
