One night stand with my president(chapter 78)

Chapter 78: Tedious

Adeline laughed.

Eleanor cursed Sidney as a fool in her mind.

"Mr. Thomson, you heard it," Adeline said. "Just now, Ms. Fraser's assistant said besides me, only she and Ms. Fraser had touched this ointment."

Harrison smirked.

"So what?" Sidney asked in confusion. "Are you suggesting I harmed Eleanor? I've been her assistant for years. She has never mistreated me. Why would I harm her?"

Adeline ignored her and suddenly turned to the doctor. "Doctor, is the damage from this medication permanent to the body?"

The doctor immediately replied,"Of course not, as long as this medication doesn't touch the face again, the skin will recover in a few days."

"Thank you," Adeline said meaningfully.

Eleanor vaguely realized something was wrong.

She immediately said to Harrison with a teary voice, "Harrison, let's forget about this matter. If Ms. Hensley says it wasn't her, let's just pretend it wasn't her. I don't want to pursue it anymore."

"Now, whether to pursue it or not is no longer up to you, Ms. Fraser," Adeline said.

After saying this, Adeline's phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?"

"Alright, I got it, you can come over now," Adeline said.

After hanging up, Adeline said to Harrison, "Mr. Thomson, a crucial lead has been found. I'm going out to meet someone."

Harrison nodded slightly.

Adeline turned and walked out.

Eleanor's fingers tightened gradually, and she quickly signaled Sidney.

Sidney understood and stood up to follow Adeline out, but suddenly heard Harrison say, "Stop."

Her steps abruptly halted.

Eleanor said, "Harrison, what are you..."

"This is a small matter. You don't need to bother," Harrison said. "Let her wait here."

Eleanor bit her lips and said,"Harrison, you're really biased towards Ms. Hensley."

"I just value the truth."

Soon, Adeline entered with Anna.

"Mr. Thomson." Anna greeted Harrison.

She wore white gloves and held a transparent bag in her hand.

Upon seeing the contents inside, Sidney turned pale.

"What are you doing here?" Harrison asked.

"Ms. Hensley just messaged me to search Linder Residence and all its surrounding trash bins for something," Anna said. "And just now, I found this."

Inside the transparent bag was a syringe.

"Doctor, could you please retest to see if there are still traces of that drug in this syringe?" Adeline asked.

"Certainly."

The doctor immediately took the syringe from Anna and went to test it.

Sidney nervously looked at Eleanor.

She hadn't cleaned up before discarding the syringe yesterday.

There must still be traces of the drug in the syringe.

Eleanor's face also looked pale.

She didn't expect Adeline to use  her phone just now to send someone to search the surrounding trash bins.

Adeline was too effective.

Just now, before the doctor had even mentioned finding traces of syringe injection, she had already sent someone to look for it.

When Adeline handed her the ointment yesterday, it hadn't been opened yet.

To frame Adeline for this, a syringe injection was necessary to make it seem like Adeline had injected that drug into the ointment.

Adeline must have thought of this.

But she had just been suspected, and she wasn't flustered at all.

She was still able to consider these things.

Eleanor couldn't stop the doctor from testing now.

Otherwise, it would be too suspicious.

Eleanor glanced at Sidney.

Sidney was already terrified by now. She couldn't help but say, "So what if there are drug residues in the syringe? Maybe you deliberately threw it into this trash bin."

"Is that so?" Adeline said lightly, "Should we check Lindver Residence's surveillance then? I just asked, and the surveillance here is intact, without any damage."

Sidney's brain went blank.

Adeline even asked about that.

"At worst, we can also check fingerprints on the syringe," Adeline said. "We don't know if the culprit wore gloves when using this syringe."

Sidney subconsciously looked down at her own hands.

And this action was noticed by everyone.

Anna couldn't help but chuckle.

Although Adeline didn't tell her exactly what had happened, after she arrived and saw Eleanor's face, Anna had a rough idea of what was going on.

How desperate they were to frame Adeline.

If Adeline could be framed so easily, could she still hold the position of chief secretary?

By now, Harrison's impatience was evident.

"Whoever did it, just admit it," he said coldly.

"Don't wait for me to find out."

Sidney couldn't help trembling.

She was the one who injected the drug with the syringe and threw the syringe away.

According to what Adeline just said, it would definitely be traced back to her.

At this moment, she saw Eleanor give her a signal.

Sidney had been with Eleanor for several years, naturally understanding what this meant.

She gritted her teeth and said in a trembling voice, "It was me."

Adeline lowered her eyelids.

It was quite tedious.

"What? You're Ms. Fraser's assistant, right? Why would you do such a thing to her?"

Anna asked in feigned surprise.

Sidney didn't know how to answer and could only look to Eleanor for help.

Seeing her gaze, Eleanor stood up and walked to Sidney's side.

Then, she raised her hand and slapped Sidney hard across the face.

Sidney looked at Eleanor in disbelief.

"Eleanor! You..."

Eleanor grabbed her wrist and said in a voice only they could hear, " Think about your paralyzed father and your mother who relies on medication to survive, and think about your younger brother who is still in junior high."

"You..."

Sidney's face turned pale.

Was Eleanor threatening her?

She suddenly remembered that a few years ago, when she was looking for a job in her home country, it was Eleanor who suddenly contacted her and asked if she wanted to go abroad to be Eleanor's assistant.

Her family was in such dire straits, and Eleanor offered an extremely high salary.

Naturally, Sidney agreed.

Now Sidney thought about it. Did Eleanor choose Sidney as an assistant precisely because of her family's difficulties, so she could be blackmailed into taking the blame if anything happened?

"You don't want to watch them in trouble, do you?" Eleanor said maliciously.

After saying that, Eleanor instantly switched back to an incredulous and sorrowful tone.

"Sidney, I've been so good to you. I never expected you to treat me like this!"
