One night stand with my president(chapter 24)

Chapter 24: It's Up to Your Ability

"Darling, don't worry. Maybe her phone is having some issues," Millie said.

Joshua said in a deep voice, "Are you trying to placate me? I already asked my dad to arrange for you to join the Thomson Group. You should keep your promise."

"Rest assured, you just want her, right?" Millie cut to the chase.

Joshua didn't deny it.

Although Millie was his girlfriend, he was just playing around.

He wasn't afraid of Millie knowing he had feelings for other women.

If Millie dared to cause trouble, he would dump her immediately.

"Actually, her name is Adeline, and she's my stepfather's daughter," Millie said. "If you like her, l' Il figure out a way to arrange a meeting between you two. Whether you can succeed or not, it's up to your ability."

"Really?" Joshua's voice was full of excitement. "Are you willing to help me with this?"

"Of course, you've helped me out, so how could I not help you?" Millie smirked, "Just wait for my good news."

After saying that, Millie hung up the phone.

When she looked at her disheveled self in the mirror, Millie's features gradually twisted.

She thought, "Adeline, how dare you treat me like this? Just wait and see!"

In the afternoon, a set of new suits was delivered.

In a few days, Harrison was to attend a cocktail party, and this suit was custom-made and was quite expensive.

Adeline carefully checked it.

Seeing no issues, she took it into Harrison's office.

Harrison glanced at it indifferently and said, "Put it down."

"I'll put it in your lounge."

Harrison's office had a dedicated lounge, spacious and comfortable, equipped with various facilities.

He could practically live in the company.

After entering the lounge, Adeline opened the closet, took the suit out of the box, and hung it in the closet.

Just as she was about to close the closet door, she suddenly saw a delicate little box in the corner of the closet.

She blinked in surprise.

This little box seemed somewhat familiar.

When she first joined the Thomson Group five years ago, she wasn't Harrison's chief secretary yet.

At that time, she heard from her predecessor that Harrison had a memorable first love.

But no one knew who she was now.

However, a gift from that first love to Harrison was widely rumored.

At the time, her predecessor even showed her a photo of the gift.

It seemed to be this little box.

Adeline thought, "What could be inside?"

Of course, Adeline wouldn't pry into someone else's privacy.

She just stared at the little box, lost in thought.

Just then, Harrison's voice sounded at the door of the lounge.

"What are you doing?"

She turned around to see Harrison looking at her with a cold gaze.

Adeline hurriedly said, "I'm hanging clothes."

After saying that, she closed the closet door.

"Does it take that long to hang up clothes?"

Harrison walked over, glanced at the closet, then lowered his gaze to her.

Adeline wasn't short, and she was wearing high heels.

However, Harrison was tall. With him standing in front of her, Adeline felt a strong sense of oppression.

She was already accustomed to this feeling and quickly regained her composure, saying, "I was just thinking about work matters."

"Is that so?" Harrison's voice didn't reveal any emotions. "Then why are you avoiding eye contact with me?"

Adeline looked up at him calmly.

Harrison looked at her coldly and said, "In the future, don't open my closet without my permission."

Adeline was a bit stunned and said, "Yes, Mr. Thomson."

She understood. She had heard that a man's first love was important.

Although the gift was tucked away in the corner of the closet, it was well-preserved.

Harrison must have cherished it and didn't want anyone else to see it..

"I'll leave now."

After saying that, Adeline was ready to leave.

However, she hadn't taken a few steps when suddenly there was a "crack" under her feet, and then she lost her balance and fell to the side.

Just when she thought she was about to fall to the ground, her wrist was suddenly grabbed by Harrison.

At the critical moment, she fell into his broad embrace.

She leaned against him.

Although separated by clothes, Adeline could feel the warmth coming from Harrison.

Her body stiffened, and she tried to pull away from his embrace.

But he suddenly exerted a little force, prevented her from withdrawing, and said in a deep voice, "Don't move."

"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline's scalp tingled.

Harrison couldn't possibly think she intentionally threw herself at him, right?

"You're stable now." Harrison said, "Do you want to fall again?"

With that said, Adeline gradually came back to her senses.

Her high heel must have broken.

Harrison was afraid she would fall, so he hadn't let her go.

Adeline tried hard not to let her face blush. She steadied herself and then said, "Thank you, Mr. Thomson. I'm stable now."

After she finished speaking, Harrison immediately let her go.

Adeline looked down at her shoes. Although breaking a heel wasn't a big deal, it was still

embarrassing, especially in front of Harrison.

Harrison's gaze also fell on her broken heel, and he frowned slightly. "What kind of shoes are these? The quality is poor."

"I'll go find some glue to fix them," Adeline said.

"What if the glue isn't strong enough and you fall again?"

Harrison's brow furrowed. "Wait here."

With that, he went straight out of the office.

"Mr. Thomson...”

Adeline wanted to call him back, but Harrison didn't look back.

Not long after, he returned.

"I had someone send a new pair of shoes over," Harrison said. "Just wait here."

"Here...?"

"Where else?" Harrison asked, "Is it appropriate for you to go out wearing shoes like that?"

"Alright."

After all, Adeline was Harrison's chief secretary.

And it was working hours.

If she looked disheveled, it would embarrass Harrison as well.

Adeline fell silent, and Harrison didn't speak either.

There seemed to be an awkward atmosphere in the lounge.

A boss and his secretary were alone in the office lounge during work hours.

If word got out, it would surely lead to speculation.

"You.." Harrison finally spoke, but only uttered that one word.

"Yes?" Adeline looked at him with confusion.

Harrison had intended to chat with her about recent events, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he suddenly felt parched.

Moreover, he felt a bit hot. He loosened his tie and said, "Never mind."

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't contain the inexplicable restlessness.

Unconsciously, his gaze fell upon her red lips.
