One night stand with my president(chapter 53)

Chapter 53: Did You Spend the night together?

But judging by Harrison's angry reaction last night, he clearly didn't know what happened.

Adeline thought, "So, was it Russell?"

But why would he do that?

Last night, helping her out could be described as coming to her aid when she needed it most.

But why would he go to settle things with the Larson family?

Was it because Dawson treated him poorly last night?

However, according to Adeline's impression of Russell, he had always had a good temperament and didn't seem like that kind of person.

But Adeline had no way to ask Darian about this.

She simply declined Darian's invitation to dinner as an apology and hung up after exchanging a few casual words.

Afterwards, Adeline was lost in thought.

Neither of the two men who harassed her had a good outcome.

She heard that Joshua and his father were both sent to prison.

As for Dawson, he was sent back abroad, losing his eligibility to inherit the Larson family.

Adeline sighed with relief, feeling considerably more relaxed.

Regardless, she hoped that no more strange occurrences would happen and that she could smoothly make it to the end of the year.

But her phone rang again.

Adeline thought it might be Darian calling again, but it wasn't Darian's number.

"Hello?"

"Adeline, it's me."

As soon as she heard the voice, Adeline knew who it was.

"Mr. Ronan," she politely replied. "what's the matter?"

"You don't have to be so formal with me when I'm not at the office. " Ronan sounded a bit aggrieved.

Ronan sounded a bit aggrieved.

"It's the weekend today, and my grandfather went out for coffee with some of his old friends. I can't find anyone to have lunch with. Could you join me for lunch?"

"I'm sorry, l've already eaten." Adeline casually fibbed.

"Oh, all right."

"Yeah, I combined breakfast and lunch."

Ronan then asked, "How about hanging out this afternoon? I'll treat you to a movie."

"No, I have some things to do in the afternoon."

Adeline didn't dislike Ronan, but she didn't want to get too close to him outside of work hours.

"Adeline, do you dislike me?" Ronan's tone suddenly became despondent. "I know I'm younger than you and not as capable as my brother, but I really want to work hard and learn from you all, to contribute more to the family."

Such coquetry was irresistible for most people.

But Adeline was not most people.

She replied in a calm tone, "Mr. Ronan, don't think too much. As you said, you're young, and you have plenty of time to learn. You're also intelligent and graduated from a prestigious university, so why belittle yourself?"

"Adeline, I knew you'd be the nicest to me. You're so kind, but my brother doesn't cherish you at all."

Adeline's heart skipped a beat, then she smiled and said, "Mr. Ronan, you're just teasing. Mr. Thomson has always treated me well in all work-related matters."

"I'm not talking about work-related matters, Ms. Hensley. I've seen news between my brother and Eleanor. He's still entangled with Eleanor. Is that fair to you?"

"Please don't speculate," Adeline quickly interjected. "I'm just Mr. Thomson's secretary. What happens between Mr. Thomson and Ms. Fraser is none of my concern."

"Anyway, if it were me, I would never treat you like this."

Adeline felt a headache. This kid was persistent.

"Mr. Ronan, it's best not to speak ill behind Mr. Thomson's back. You're his younger brother, and you should understand his temperament better than I do. I have something to attend to, so l have to go now."

"Adeline...”

Before Ronan could say anything else, Adeline ended the call.

But as soon as she hung up, the phone rang again.

Thinking it was Ronan again, Adeline picked up the phone without checking and said, "Mr. Ronan, I really have something to do.”

"Adeline, what are you talking about? Who's Mr. Ronan?"

On the other end of the line was her aunt, Lacey Hensley.

"Aunt, it's you. Is everything alright? How have you been?" Adeline asked.

Lacey had always been good to her.

But Lacey had her own family and needed to raise two children, so she couldn't always take care of Adeline.

"I'm fine, Adeline. How about you?

How's work going? Has your boss been giving you a hard time?" Lacey asked.

Adeline wouldn't burden her aunt with her troubles. Telling Lacey about her problems would only make her worry.

So Adeline just said everything was fine.

Lacey chatted with her about.

Lacey chatted with her about family matters for a while, then said, "Adeline, it's been a long time since we've seen each other.

Why don't you come over to my house for dinner tonight? I'll make your favorite spareribs and fish. Oh, your cousins have been saying they miss you."

Adeline realized it had been quite a while since she visited her aunt. "Alright, I'll come over tonight."

"Okay, looking forward to it," Lacey said.

After hanging up with her aunt, Adeline finally quieted down for a moment.

She decided to go to the kitchen and prepare lunch.

After all, she couldn't starve herself.

Only when well-fed would she have the strength to face various unexpected events.

While Adeline was preparing lunch in the kitchen, on the second floor of a seaside restaurant, Harrison and Eleanor were sitting facing each other by the window.

Eleanor smiled and raised her glass.

"Harrison, thank you for sending me back to the hotel last night."

"Just a small favor," Harrison said.

He didn't raise the glass in his hand.

"Won't you have a drink with me?"

Eleanor asked.

"I have things to do in the afternoon, so I'll pass on the drink."

Hearing his response, Eleanor didn* t insist and took a sip of her wine. "Do you remember this restaurant? Before I went abroad, our last meal together was here."

Harrison was looking at his phone and absentmindedly responded with an "Mm."

There were some messages from others on his phone.

But not a single one was from Adeline.

He furrowed his brow and sneered in his heart, "Adeline, you've done well“

From last night until now, Adeline didn't contact him.

"Harrison, why have you been staring at your phone?" Eleanor asked. "Is there something urgent?"

Harrison put down his phone and said, "It's nothing."

But just then, his phone rang.

He quickly picked it up to check.

It was a call from Sam. A hint of disappointment flashed.

It was a call from Sam.

A hint of disappointment flashed across his eyes. "What's up?"

"Harrison, what's going on with you?" Sam yawned as he spoke. "I just woke up and saw all the news about you and Eleanor. Did she return? Did you two go to a hotel together last night? Did you spend the night together?"
