Chapter 51: His Sweetheart Returned
Darian returned to the Larson family, and Dawson had also returned home.
Dawson, drunk and stumbling, walked through the door without noticing his father's grim expression, greeting him with a smirk, "Dad, still up at this hour?"
"Where were you?" Darian asked, suppressing his anger.
"I... I didn't go anywhere. I attended a party tonight and then went for drinks with friends...”
Darian was infuriated even more at his playful look. He shouted, "Kneel!"
This shout made Dawson sober up slightly.
But Dawson hadn't realized the seriousness of the situation yet, still smiling as he said, "Dad, why are you so angry? I went out for drinks as part of networking. I'm going to inherit the Larson Group in the future. I need to socialize. How can I run a business without connections?"
"You still want to inherit the Larson Group?" Darian sneered, "You're finished. Kneel now.
Guards."
After shouting, several servants hurried over.
"Sir..."
"Hold this brat down."
Dawson was just an illegitimate child, so the household servants weren't afraid of him.
With Darian's command, several servants immediately pressed Dawson down to his knees.
"What are you doing? Dad, what's going on? What did I do wrong?"
Darian grabbed his belt and fiercely struck Dawson.
"Ouch." Dawson cried out, "Dad. Why are you hitting me? What did I do wrong? You have to tell me."
"You don't even know what you did wrong." Darian continued to strike him, causing Dawson to cry out in pain.
Darian became exhausted from hitting him and took heavy breaths.
Sitting on the sofa, he said, "How did you offend Russell?"
"Who's Russell? I don't know him." Dawson grinned.
Darian had shown no mercy when hitting Dawson, so now the latter felt a burning pain all over his body.
"Russell is the CEO of the Hunter Group."
Hearing this, Dawson suddenly remembered. Earlier today, he flirted with Adeline, and a man showed up. Adeline called him "Mr. Hunter."
"I see, so that guy was badmouthing me to you," Dawson said angrily. "I can't believe it.
I didn't do anything to him. I was just flirting with a beautiful woman. When he stopped me, I left. Was it necessary for him to complain to you about it?"
"Flirting with a woman? What woman did you flirt with?" Darian raised his eyebrows.
"It was Ms. Hensley," Dawson replied.
When he heard that, Darian's mind rumbled.
"Ms. Hensley... Could it be the secretary who works for Mr. Thomson?" Darian asked.
Dawson said angrily, "I can't believe it. I just flirted with a pretty woman, and Russell overreacted. She's not even his secretary. Was that necessary?"
Before he finished speaking, Darian kicked him over.
"You beast. How dare you touch Mr. Thomson's people? You're putting our entire family at risk. Get him out of here, as far away as possible. Never let him come back."
Darian's mind was racing.
This matter had involved Harrison.
Darian had no time to think about why Russell had stood up for Adeline.
At this moment, all he could think about was if he had offended both Harrison and Russell, then the Larson family would be finished.
So now, he had to get rid of this troublemaker quickly.
Seeing Darian's state, the servants knew he was serious.
They quickly dragged Dawson away.
It was only now that Dawson realized the severity of the situation. He shouted miserably, "Dad, I was wrong. Please don't send me away. I'm your son, Dad, please help me."
However, Darian ignored him, letting the servants take him farther away.
The next morning, Adeline woke up with dark circles under her eyes.
She had spent the night tossing and turning, unable to sleep well.
In her dream, Joshua and Dawson kept circling around her with lewd smiles on their faces.
But what made her despair in the dream was Harrison standing not far from her.
He said, "You like to flirt with men, don't you? You brought this upon yourself."
Adeline cried bitterly in her dream, something she hadn't done in real life for a long time.
When she woke up, she found her pillow wet, unsure if it was tears or sweat.
She took a moment to compose herself and sat up in bed.
It was already daylight.
Although it was a weekend and she didn't have to work, Adeline wasn't used to sleeping in, so she went to the bathroom to freshen up and then to the kitchen to prepare some eggs for breakfast.
After Harrison left last night, he hadn't contacted her since.
She wondered if he was still upset.
Adeline had just taken out an egg when she heard her phone ring.
It was Joyce calling.
She put on her Bluetooth headset and answered the call as she started frying the egg.
"Hello, Joyce, what's up? It's not your style to be up so early on a weekend,' Adeline chuckled.
"Adeline, something big happened." Joyce's voice sounded urgent.
"Have you seen the news online?"
"What's going on?" Adeline asked.
Her first thought was that someone had taken pictures of Harrison coming to her house last night and spread rumors.
"Mr. Thomson is in the headlines again, and it was with his sweetheart."
Hearing the phrase "sweetheart", Adeline was momentarily stunned.
She suddenly remembered Harrison receiving that call last night and leaving immediately.
Could the person who came back be his sweetheart?
Adeline switched to another app, looking at entertainment news.
The headline read, "International Star Eleanor Fraser Returns, Seen with Mr. Thomson at a Hotel."
According to insiders, Eleanor had always been Harrison's sweetheart.
The two were in love five years ago, but Eleanor chose to go abroad for her career, forcing them to separate.
Now that Eleanor had returned, Harrison had immediately reunited with her.
Now they were both extraordinary figures, one was a business genius and the other was a famous actress. What a perfect match.
"Adeline, have you seen this? Is Eleanor really Mr. Thomson's sweetheart?" Joyce asked.
Adeline didn't know how to respond.
She had heard that Harrison had a sweetheart.
But it was only today that she realized it was Eleanor.
