Chapter 65: To Buy Ointment
Kaylie had put in so much effort in winning Harrison's heart but hadn't succeeded once.
Now she was expected to just sit back and watch Harrison flirt with someone else?
She couldn't do it.
But in front of Harrison, she wouldn't say that.
"I know you don't believe me," Kaylie smiled sadly. "But rest assured, I will prove with my actions that I won't be obsessed with you anymore. I also hope you with you anymore. I also hope you will keep your promise and not let anyone see that recording."
After saying that, Kaylie turned and left.
Before leaving, her resentful gaze swept over Adeline.
Seeing Russell next to Adeline, Kaylie smirked meaningfully.
As soon as she left, Russell said to Adeline in a deep voice, "If you need any help, let me know."
Adeline was slightly surprised.
She looked at Russell, who was gazing coldly towards the door of the private room.
Eleanor had returned to Harrison's side by this time.
She covered her face and said plaintively, "Harrison, it hurts."
Harrison glanced at her and said, " Have the waiter bring some ointment."
"My face is swollen. I don't want the waiter to see me like this.” Eleanor was worried. "If others find out that I got hit, rumors will circulate." Pausing for a moment, she lowered her gaze and said, "Isn't Ms.
Hensley here? Harrison, why don't you ask her to buy some ointment for me?"
Harrison remained silent.
Eleanor then said pitifully, "My skin is very sensitive. If I don't apply the ointment soon, it might swell for a long time.
After signing the contract with the Thomson Group in a few days, I'Il need to take promotional photos. If my face isn't better by then, it will delay the progress."
Hearing this, Harrison frowned.
He then picked up his phone and sent a message to Adeline.
Adeline glanced down when she saw the phone light up.
She then read Harrison's message asking her to buy ointment for Eleanor.
Adeline remained composed and turned to Russell, saying, "Mr. Hunter, excuse me for a moment.”
"Is something wrong?" Russell asked.
"I'm going to buy some medicine."
Russell paused for a moment, understanding what was going on.
He stood up with Adeline and said, "There's no pharmacy nearby.
“The nearest one is a twenty-minute drive. I drove here, so let me take you."
Adeline quickly replied, "Thank you, Mr. Hunter, but I'll just take a taxi."
Russell insisted, "Ms. Hensley, don't be so formal with me. I didn' t have anything else to do, and that's why I came over. If I give you a ride, you'll be back sooner."
With that, Russell headed outside.
Adeline had no choice but to follow quickly.
"Harrison, is Mr. Hunter taking Ms. Hensley to buy medicine?" Eleanor chuckled lightly, "Looks like their relationship is quite pond"
After saying that, she turned to look at Harrison's expression.
Harrison showed no reaction. He picked up the glass in front of him and took a sip.
But Eleanor noticed that Harrison was gripping the glass tightly.
It was as if he might crush the glass in the next second.
Eleanor's heart sank.
It seemed that Harrison was indeed very concerned about Adeline.
Adeline didn't want to trouble Russell.
But he had already driven the car right in front of her.
If she insisted on refusing, it would be impolite.
Adeline thanked him and got into the car.
Russell's car had a pleasant woody fragrance that could calm the nerves.
Adeline sat in silence in the car.
Russell broke the ice and asked, "Is work usually tiring for you?"
Adeline smiled and replied, "It's manageable. I've gotten used to it."
Russell also smiled, "I remember when I first met you, you were a busy and flustered assistant."
Adeline was slightly surprised.
"Mr. Hunter, you knew me so early?"
Adeline found it a bit strange.
She had always thought that Russell only met her when the Thomson cooperated with the Hunter Group.
After all, they had never had any interaction before.
Even if they met, it was from a distance, without any conversation.
So Adeline didn't expect Russell to rememher her.
But Russell had no intention of continuing, so Adeline didn't inquire further.
"Thanks to you, the cooperation between the Hunter Group and the Thomson Group was a success. It saved us a lot of worries," Russell continued. "I was just doing my job,"
Adeline replied modestly. "But your ability is evident to everyone," Russell said. "Mr.
Thomson is a very lucky man."
Adeline felt a strange sensation in her heart.
Usually, people would say she was lucky to become Harrison's chief secretary.
It was the first time someone had told her that Harrison was lucky to have her.
"What's wrong?" Russell noticed her distracted look and asked.
Adeline snapped back to reality and said, "Nothing. Thank you, Mr. Hunter."
Russell chuckled, "The words you say to me most are 'thank you.' You don't need to be so polite with me."
"I can't help it. I'm a polite person," Adeline joked.
The two of them continued chatting casually until Russell stopped the car in front of a pharmacy.
Russell didn't get out of the car. Adeline went into the pharmacy alone and asked the pharmacist for the best ointment available.
It was expensive, but she didn't have to pay for it. She would claim it back from Harrison.
Since it was ointment for Harrison' s loved one, Adeline couldn't afford to buy anything less than the best, or Harrison would be upset.
Adeline left the pharmacy with the ointment in hand.
She then noticed that Russell wasn' t sitting in the car but leaning against it, waiting for her.
He was tall and handsome, exuding a lazy charm as he leaned against the car. Many passing women couldn't help stealing glances at him.
Adeline suddenly realized something.
Before, Russell had saved her, which could be attributed to helping her in need.
But his behavior today seemed a bit unusual.
Adeline hoped she was just overthinking it.
"Done?" Russell opened the passenger door for her and said, "Get in."
Adeline tightened her grip on the bag.
She felt more and more confused by Russell's attitude towards her.
After both got into the car, Russell started the car and drove towards the clubhouse.
Adeline checked the time on her phone and said, "It's almost time to get off work. I hope after delivering the ointment, Mr.
Thomson won't need me for anything else."
"Do you have plans tonight?" Russell asked.
"Yes," Adeline smiled sweetly, "| have dinner plans with my boyfriend tonight."
