Chapter 60: Roses
An hour later.
Karina walked into Kaylie's room and saw her sitting on the bed, trembling and muttering "Man. Man," which instantly angered her.
"Kaylie, what are you doing? You're the heiress of the Hickman family. How could you say so? Luckily, this is at home. If it were outside, you'd embarrass the Hickman family, and your father would be even angrier."
"Mom, I'm dying! And you're not helping me?" Kaylie cried out.
"Dying? What are you saying? The family doctor just checked on you. You're perfectly fine."
Kaylie was stunned.
Karina had intended to take Kaylie to the hospital, but seeing her like this, Karina was afraid of embarrassment, so she had the doctor come to the house instead.
The doctor didn't dare to neglect it and brought several nurses and a lot of medical equipment with him, rushing over in a flurry.
After a check-up, it turned out Kaylie was fine.
However, Kaylie's constant muttering about "Man. Man" left them all puzzled.
"Mom, are you serious?" Kaylie asked in surprise. "There's nothing wrong with me?"
"Of course not! So what's gotten into you?"
Karina felt distressed and angry.
After the surprise wore off, Kaylie realized she had been played by Harrison.
He hadn't drugged her but had locked her in that room, subjecting her to mental torment all night.
It felt so terrible that she would never forget it.
And the way she desperately asked for a man must have been seen by Harrison.
Kaylie felt a chill run down her spine.
Harrison was too ruthless.
Although he hadn't physically harmed her, he had severely wounded her mentally.
Last night would probably become a lifelong psychological shadow for her.
"Mom..." Kaylie said fearfully, "Harrison is terrifying!"
In the morning, Adeline arrived at the company.
Harrison hadn't arrived yet, and colleagues in the CEO's office daringly asked her about the situation between Harrison and Eleanor.
Everyone in the CEO's office knew gossip about Harrison was off-limits, but this situation seemed unusual, and they couldn't resist asking.
"Ms. Hensley, do you know what's going on between Mr. Thomson and Eleanor?"
"Is Eleanor Mr. Thomson's sweetheart?"
"Have they been back together now?"
Suppressing the pain in her heart, Adeline replied calmly, "I'm not too sure about Mr. Thomson's matters. It's best not to pry. If Mr. Thomson finds out, he won't be pleased."
"Oh, so even Ms. Hensley doesn't know."
"Ms. Hensley is right. Mr. Thomson will be here soon. Let's get back to work."
The crowd dispersed.
Adeline sat at her desk, lost in thought.
Harrison didn't arrive at the company until noon.
He walked past Adeline without a glance and went into his office.
Adeline took a deep breath, picked up the documents she had prepared in the morning, and entered the office.
"Mr. Thomson, these are the documents you need to sign."
Harrison gave a nonchalant "Hmm."
He didn't mention the events from the other night.
And naturally, Adeline wouldn't bring it up.
Just as Adeline was about to leave, Harrison suddenly said, "Order a bouquet of flowers and have them sent to Number 16, Lindver
Residence."
Lindver Residence was an upscale villa area.
Harrison suddenly asked her to order flowers to be sent there.
Could it be that Eleanor was living there?
"Yes, Mr. Thomson," Adeline said.
"Do you want a card with it?"
Harrison paused his file flipping and looked up at Adeline, meeting her serious gaze.
He suddenly felt annoyed.
"If you have something to say, write on it," He said coldly.
Adeline was speechless.
What could she possibly want to say?
He seemed angry again.
Was she being too intrusive by asking if he wanted a card?
Fine, she'd consider it meddling.
After leaving the office, Adeline quickly ordered a large bouquet of bright red roses to be sent to Lindver Residence.
Two hours later, she saw a post from Eleanor.
Eleanor's post was simple. It was just a photo of a bouquet of roses, without any caption.
But the simplicity of it sparked intense discussion.
"Who sent these beautiful roses to Eleanor?"
"Isn't it obvious? It must be Mr. Thomson!"
"Wow, I always thought Mr. Thomson was stoic, but it turns out he's so romantic."
"Eleanor is so wonderful. She deserves the best love."
Eleanor didn't reply to any of the comments.
Netizens were even more imaginative. Many were convinced that Harrison and Eleanor were already together.
Former lovers, separated for five years but never forgetting each other, reunited. What a beautiful love story!
Adeline silently watched Eleanor's rose photo.
The roses were beautiful and eye-catching.
They were the ones she had ordered.
Adeline thought, "Sure enough, Harrison had me order flowers for Eleanor."
She quickly exited the social media app.
Just as sne was about to dive back into work, a bouquet of roses suddenly appeared in front of her.
Adeline was surprised. She looked up and saw Ronan holding the roses, smiling at her with two teeth showing.
A chorus of surprised exclamations echoed through the CEO's office.
"Wow! Isn't that Mr. Ronan?"
"Is he giving roses to Ms. Hensley?"
"Such a handsome man has been captured by Ms. Hensley."
Adeline quickly regained her composure and smiled at Ronan, "Thank you for your kind gesture, Mr. Ronan, but I can't accept these flowers."
"Why?"
Ronan directly placed the roses into Adeline's arms.
"The company doesn't have a rule against flowers on employees' desks. I saw a female colleague in our department received a large bouquet from her boyfriend yesterday, and our department head didn't say anything. He even made a couple of jokes."
Adeline looked at the flowers in her arms, feeling a headache.
How was she going to explain to Ronan that she wasn't refusing because she was afraid of breaking company rules?
Just as she was about to return the flowers to Ronan, she saw Harrison stepping out of his office.
When he saw Ronan standing in front of her with the flowers, Harrison's expression immediately darkened.
Ronan was still afraid of him. As soon as he saw Harrison, he made hasty exit.
Adeline was left alone, holding the roses and locking eyes with Harrison.
