One night stand with my president(chapter 43)

Chapter 43: Failure

At this moment, Kaylie's friend Carla approached.

Seeing Adeline and Harrison, she said to Kaylie, "Harrison is out of line. Everyone knows that you're the most likely to marry him. Yet he openly brings another woman to the event. Isn't that a slap in your face?"

She intended to stand up for Kaylie, but her words deeply hurt Kaylie.

Kaylie forced herself to remain calm. "Ms. Hensley has always been with Harrison. It's normal that she accompanies him to events."

"Come on, everyone knows that Mr.

Thomson never needed a companion at events. But he brings Ms. Hensley this time. Moreover, the dress she's wearing, if I'm not mistaken, is the latest release from a famous brand. There's only one like it in the world, and it's invaluable. How could a mere secretary get it? It must be a gift from Mr. Thomson."

Kaylie's heart was pierced by

Carla's words. But she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her friend, so she said, "Enough, let's not talk about it. The event is starting soon. Let's go in."

Carla walked alongside her, continuing, "Oh, when did your temper become so good? If I were you, I'd definitely find an opportunity to put Ms. Hensley in her place."

Kaylie felt annoyed by Carla's constant chatter.

She wanted to deal with Adeline, but she failed.

"By the way..." Carla's voice suddenly lowered. "What did Harrison do after you left the hotel that night? The drug I got for you is top-notch stuff. If Harrison didn't find a woman to... You know, he wouldn't have survived till now."

Kaylie's expression changed. "Are you sure?"

"Of course. To counteract the effects of that drug, he had to sleep with someone. Otherwise, he would die."

Kaylie's fingers tightened fiercely .

She wondered who benefited from this.

But later, she considered that Harrison's room wasn't accessible to anyone, and he wasn't an ordinary person. Maybe he had survived in another way.

But now, hearing Carla's words, Kaylie was sure that Harrison must have slept with another woman that night.

Kaylie thought, "Who was it?"

She was trembling with anger.

She had worked so hard and spent so much money, only to end up letting others reap her efforts.

When Harrison and Adeline entered the venue, they immediately became the center of attention, not just because of their status but also because of their superior appearance.

Either of them was enough to be stunning. But now, standing side by side, they were under the limelight.

"Hey, bro." Sam appeared from nowhere, smiling at them. "Harrison, finally caught up with you. I've never thought you'd bring a companion today, and it's Ms. Hensley."

"Do you have an issue with that?" Harrison asked.

"No, of course not. How could I have an issue?" Sam said. "Ms. Hensley, you look incredibly beautiful today. My goodness, I used to think there were many beauties here, but with you here, they all pale in comparison...”

Sam didn't finish his sentence before feeling a chill.

He shuddered and turned his head.

In Harrison's eyes there was a clear warning "If you dare look at her again, I'll gouge your eyes out."

Sam immediately shifted his gaze elsewhere, not daring to look at Adeline. Sam thought, "Harrison prioritizes Adeline over his friends!"

"Harrison, is there anything you're interested in today?" Sam asked.

Today was actually a charity event, and there would be an auction where all proceeds would go to charity.

So, many celebrities and wealthy individuals had come today.

Not only could they bid on things they liked, but they could also contribute to charity and meet more people at the event.

But Harrison hadn't thought so much.

He had just come because he was invited and because it was a charity event.

He hadn't even looked at the auction list.

"I don't know. We'll see," Harrison said casually.

Just then, Adeline heard a familiar sound.

It was their unique signal between her and Joyce.

Adeline immediately looked around.

Sure enough, she saw Joyce standing excitedly beside a pillar, waving at her.

Adeline's eyes lit up.

She said to Harrison, "Mr. Thomson, I see my friend over there. I'd like to say hello. Is that Okay?"

"Go ahead," Harrison said.

Adeline immediately let go of Harrison's arm and walked towards Joyce.

Harrison watched her back, then glanced at the men around whose gazes were fixed on her. His eyes darkened.

"What's wrong with you? You look unhappy," Sam asked."Could it be because your beautiful secretary left you to greet a friend?"

"No," Harrison said. "I just don't understand why a perfectly good dress has to be designed this way."

"What?"

Sam was puzzled for a moment.

When he saw Adeline's back, Sam suddenly realized and chuckled, "Wait, are you upset because Ms. Hensley's evening gown is backless?"

Harrison didn't say anything, essentially admitting it.

"Are you serious?" Sam said, bemused."This design looks great, and it's only exposing half of her back. That's normal. It covers all the necessary parts securely."

Harrison furrowed his brow. He also knew he was being a bit unreasonable.

But...

Just then, a waiter passed by.

Harrison said calmly, "Wait a moment."

The waiter immediately stopped and asked respectfully, "Sir, what do you need?"

"Bring a shawl for a lady," Harrison said.

The waiter was briefly taken aback, perhaps not expecting Harrison to request a shawl for a lady.

But the waitstaff in such places were well-trained.

So, he quickly responded, "Yes. Please wait a moment."

After the waiter left, Sam teased, "Come on, you're so possessive. What if Ms. Hensley goes out in revealing outfits? Wouldn't you go crazy?"

"What's that?" Harrison asked.

Sam was speechless.

He took out his phone and found a picture online, then handed it to Harrison.

"Look, it's like this," Sam said.

Harrison's pupils suddenly contracted.
