Chapter 56: Should I Believe You?
Harrison was briefly stunned, then let out a bitter laugh.
Lorenzo was indeed awesome, always hitting the nail on the head.
He sighed helplessly and earnestly advised, "You have to pamper ladies. Since you've upset her, apologize to her sincerely and give her a gift. Do I have to teach you even this?"
Harrison took Lorenzo's words seriously for a moment.
But soon, he realized something and said with a strange expression, "Grandpa, she's my secretary, not my girlfriend."
Lorenzo was pissed off.
"You... You obstinate brat." Lorenzo said angrily, "Alright, just go out. Remember to bring Ms. Hensley over for dinner sometime."
Harrison didn't understand why Lorenzo suddenly got angry and could only turn and leave.
Myra was nowhere to be seen, leaving only Kaylie.
Harrison wasn't blind to their intentions and prepared to leave immediately.
However, Kaylie called out to him, "Mr. Thomson."
Harrison paused.
But it wasn't because Kaylie called him. It was because he remembered he had a few words to say to Kaylie.
Kaylie approached him. At this moment, she didn't seem as teary-eyed as she had been in front of Myra.
She calmly said to Harrison, "Mr. Thomson, I know you don't like me." After saying this, she smiled, "But now, among the women around you, l am the most suitable marriage partner. You should be well aware of that, right? Eleanor is a star, but the Fraser family went bankrupt seven years ago. There's no good family background supporting her now. And as for Adeline? I don't think I need to put that so bluntly, right?"
"Ms. Hickman," Harrison said calmly, "on what basis do you think I must have a suitable marriage partner?"
Kaylie was taken aback.
She looked into Harrison's deep eyes and momentarily lost her confidence.
But after all, she was the heiress of the Hickman family, so she managed to regain her composure.
Kaylie said, "I know that with your abilities, you don't need to rely on marriage to strengthen the Thomson family. But Myra will not allow you to have a mismatched marriage partner. You're filial, and you don't want to upset your mother over this, do you?"
"I was just about to discuss my mother with you," Harrison said. "Please stay away from my mother in the future, and don't step foot into the Thomson family."
Kaylie didn't expect him to be so resolute.
She gritted her teeth and asked, "Why? I was invited here by Myra."
"You can choose not to listen," Harrison said coldly. "After all, it's not possible for us to get along well."
Kaylie suddenly remembered that just yesterday, a business plan of the Hickman family that had just been launched suddenly failed.
The Hickman family was at a loss, , unable to figure out what went wrong.
Could this be Harrison's doing?
The Hickman family was not weak.
But only Harrison could have orchestrated such a thing in such a short time.
"Do you have to be so ruthless?" Kaylie looked at him plaintively. “You know, I genuinely care about you."
Harrison almost laughed at her words.
Care about him?
If she cared about him, would she drug him?
But Harrison didn't care whether Kaylie cared for him or not, so he couldn't be bothered to argue with her about it.
"Ms. Hickman, this is just the beginning," Harrison said coldly. " If you dare to plot against me, be prepared to face the consequences."
"I've never plotted against you," Kaylie defended herself. "Who told you such things? Adeline? And you believe her over me?"
"She works for me. If I don't believe her, should I believe you?"
Harrison's eyes were filled with mockery.
Kaylie was shocked.
"Adeline, you bitch," Kaylie thought.
Whether it was Eleanor or Adeline, she wouldn't let them get away.
Harrison had already left, but Kaylie stood frozen in place.
Myra came out of a room and, seeing only Kaylie there, quickly asked, "Has Harrison left? How did your conversation go?"
Kaylie snapped back to reality.
She looked flustered and said, "Myra, I have something else to take care of. I'll leave now."
With that, she picked up her bag and hurriedly left.
What Harrison said just now scared her.
Kaylie decided not to visit the Thomson family for the time being.
After leaving the Thomson family, Kaylie received a call from her mother as soon as she got into her car.
"Where are you?" Her mother's voice sounded slightly worried.
"I just left the Thomson family. What's wrong?" Kaylie asked wearily.
"Something has happened. Come home quickly."
Her mother never joked with her like this.
Kaylie's expression stiffened, and she immediately instructed the driver to return to the Hickman family.
As soon as she stepped inside the house, a coffee cup came flying at her.
Kaylie quickly dodged.
The coffee cup shattered on the floor.
Kaylie looked pale.
The one who had thrown the coffee cup was her father, Aidan Hickman.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Kaylie asked incredulously.
"You still have the nerve to ask me? Kneel!" Aidan roared.
Kaylie's mother, Karina Hickman, tried to calm the situation.
"Can't you talk to your child properly without scaring her?"
"How could I be supposed to talk nicely to her? She dared to do something audacious like this because you spoiled her!" Aidan shouted.
Hearing him say this, Kaylie vaguely realized something and quickly asked, "Dad, what happened?"
"Kneel!" Aidan repeated.
Seeing her mother desperately signaling to her, Kaylie reluctantly knelt.
Aidan bellowed, "Bring me a stick!"
Kaylie trembled and said quickly, " Dad, just got back. Do you have to resort to this without even telling me what I did wrong?"
"Don't you know what it was?" Aidan's face was red with anger.
Karina sighed and said, "Kaylie, no matter how much you want to achieve your goal, you can't provoke Mr. Thomson. Now our family is in trouble."
Karina sighed and explained to Kaylie briefly, and Kaylie finally understood what was going on.
It turned out that Aidan had discovered why their project had failed. It was indeed Harrison's actions.
Aidan didn't understand why Harrison suddenly had a grudge against the Hickman family. Aidan was unable to contact Harrison, but his assistant, Rowen, called him.
"Want to know why Mr. Thomson has a problem with the Hickman family? Ask your good daughter."
