Chapter 31: Deal with Camryn
"Want to call my grandfather?"Harrison's expression remained unchanged. "Don't waste your efforts."
Camryn ignored him, trembling as he took out his phone and dialed Lorenzo's number.
But it was a servant of the Thomson family who answered the phone. The servant informed him that Lorenzo was asleep. Even if it was urgent, he couldn't be disturbed at this time.
The call ended, but Camryn still held the phone, as if speaking to Harrison, yet also speaking to himself. "Wait until tomorrow morning when Mr. Thomson wakes up. He will surely forgive me.”
Harrison's patience was exhausted.
He said coldly, "Camryn, I'll give you two choices now. Either you confront the legal team of the Thomson Group, or you take your son and leave for Lubrea, never to return."
Camryn listened in fear and trepidation.
Confronting the legal team of the Thomson Group would mean going to prison.
As far as he knew, the Thomson Group's legal team had never lost.
But going to Lubrea... He knew very well that Lubrea was a place of poverty and hardship, plagued by ongoing conflicts.
To be honest, that wasn't much different from going to prison.
Camryn was speechless with a pale face.
Harrison stood up from the couch and said, "I'll give you a night to think it over. If you still can' t decide by tomorrow morning, I'll decide for you."
With that, Harrison walked away.
As Camryn watched him go to the door, Camryn's heart pounded. He ran over and wanted to plead with him, but Rowen blocked his path.
"Didn't you hear what Mr. Thomson said?" Rowen smirked. "If you chase after him now, your fate will only be worse."
"Mr. Palmer, please help me," Camryn pleaded. "I promise I'll never do such foolish things again."
"Do you think begging will work? Besides, it's not just you now. Your son almost caused harm to Ms. Hensley. Do you think Mr.
Thomson will forgive you? Dream on."
Rowen's tone was nonchalant, but Camryn was filled with fear.
"Ms. Hensley?"
No wonder Joshua had such a miserable day today.
He was too audacious, daring to harm anyone.
"However, with what you've done, Mr. Thomson will eventually take action against you," Rowen continued. "Deputy Director, oh no, you're not the Deputy Director anymore, Camryn. It's better not to do bad things."
With that, Rowen also left.
Camryn was enveloped in despair and collapsed to the ground.
Suddenly, he felt that if Joshua hadn't targeted Adeline, perhaps Harrison wouldn't have been so harsh on him.
Camryn thought, "But no, Harrison has always been ruthless."
Camryn couldn't understand how much of Harrison's anger stemmed from him and how much stemmed from his son.
After leaving the club, Harrison still felt a knot in his chest.
At this moment, Rowen asked him, "Mr. Thomson, what about the... l mean, should we also deal with the Hensley family?"
Rowen wanted to scold the Hensley family, but considering that Adeline was also from the Hensley family. He wasn't sure what
Harrison intended, so Rowen chose to be polite.
As he said this, Harrison realized that he was still angry because the Hensley family had not yet been dealt with.
How could they allow Adeline to be mistreated by outsiders without intervening?
Suddenly, he remembered that the person who had answered the door at the Hensley family's house was the new assistant at the president's office.
It turned out she was Adeline's family.
No wonder Adeline always said she wasn't suitable for the job.
Adeline must have known what kind of person the assistant was.
Harrison suddenly regretted that day. If he had known, he wouldn't have let that woman stay.
This feeling of regret made him even more agitated.
At this moment, he suddenly realized that since he was eight years old, he had never
experienced this feeling before.
Quarreling and regret... He felt it absurd that he would experience these feelings.
"Mr. Thomson?" Rowen found it strange that he remained silent.
Harrison suppressed his annoyance and said, "First, find out the situation of her family."
After all, they were Adeline's family. If he acted rashly, Adeline would resent him.
After getting into the car, Harrison leaned back in the back seat and closed his eyes to rest.
Rowen sat in the passenger seat, sending messages to instruct people to check the Hensley family, but suddenly he heard Harrison chuckle coldly.
His phone almost slipped from his hand, and Rowen quickly asked, "Mr. Thomson, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," Harrison replied.
He just suddenly remembered that Adeline had secretly taken money from his mother behind his back, while he was standing up for her here.
Clearly, he was angry with her, but then he forgot about this thing.
So he found himself somewhat ridiculous.
Rowen had been with Harrison for quite some time, but he couldn't figure out what Harrison meant at this moment. Since Harrison didn't speak, he didn't ask further and continued with his messages.
When she woke up in the morning, Adeline felt much calmer.
She wasn't someone who panicked over trivial matters. It was just that last night's events were too frightening, so she couldn't calm down for a while.
But after a night's sleep, she felt much better.
Adeline picked up her phone and saw many missed calls and messages from Mateo and Janiyah.
She had put her phone on silent before going to bed, so she hadn't received any notifications.
Mateo said, [Adeline, it's all my fault. I'm too obsessed with money, but I think that Joshua is a good young man. I'm doing this for your own good.]
Janiyah said, [Adeline, it's great that you're fine. Both your dad and your sister were confused. We're family. Please don't hold it against them. Could you please help smooth things over for them? If Mr. Thomson is unhappy with us, it won't be good for you, right?]
Mateo said, [Adeline, it was Joshua forcing your sister to do it. She has no power or influence and dares not disobey Joshua.]
Adeline glanced expressionlessly at the messages and then proceeded to block both of their numbers, as well as the home phone number.
From now on, she would treat them as strangers.
Although Harrison had said she could take time off, Adeline felt fine now, so she planned to go to the company.
The medicine prescribed by the doctor was very effective. The swelling on her face had subsided.
If one didn't look closely, it wouldn't be noticeable.
However, the injury on her neck was still quite noticeable.
After applying medicine, Adeline wrapped a scarf around it.
If people at the company saw it, they would inevitably ask about it, and Adeline was Harrison's chief secretary, so she needed to pay attention to her image.
After arriving at the company, Harrison frowned when he saw her.
But he didn't say anything and went straight into the office.

ReplyDeleteYou see exactly what Ms Hensely is going through with her family, is the same thing that I am going through in my family with our mother and father dead, they refused to reckon me as the one who built the two bedrooms flat with our mother , and even the only child that is a signatory to her property. But all they do is to humiliate me in public, and also resist me from the house. Claiming what is supposed to be mine as by right not until I invited the government, and Human Rights into the issue that it begins to register in their head. Family is not a do or die affair, so one need to be so conscious about the decisions one have to take or make for one's security.
