One night stand with my president(chapter 58)

Chapter 58 :What Trick is She Up to?

Millie told Lacey that she sincerely wanted to apologize to Adeline and mentioned that Adeline had been feeling down lately.

Perhaps if they could get alone well, Adeline wouldn't be unhappy anymore.

So Lacey helped arrange for Adeline to come over.

Lacey thought that things would be resolved if they discussed the matters openly, and she genuinely wanted to prepare a meal for Adeline.

"Adeline, shall we start with dinner?" Lacey asked cautiously.

Seeing Lacey like this, Adeline couldn't bear it.

"Aunt, I would like to have dinner with you, but I can't forgive Millie," Adeline said.

"You know what? She and Mateo, along with Janiyah, used Mateo's birthday as an excuse to lure me back home, then locked me in a room and allowed a man to violate me!"

"What?" Lacey's face turned pale, and she clutched her chest in shock. "Did something happen to you?"

"I'm fine. Someone saved me," Adeline said.

When Adeline thought back to that night when Harrison saved her, her heart softened a bit.

In any case, Harrison had saved her.

She was indeed upset by what he said last night.

But thinking it over, when he was angry, he might say things he didn't mean.

However, if that was the case, why was Harrison so angry?

Was it because she was his secretary and was "getting close" to the leader of other

companies?

Hearing her words, Lacey sighed in relief and said, "It's great that you're fine."

Then she looked displeased at Millie and said, "Although Adeline is not your biological sister, you grew up together. How could you do such a thing? You're ruining Adeline's innocence!"

"That's not the case..." Millie cried, shaking her head. "I didn't want to harm Adeline, and neither did Dad and Mom. It was that man forcing us. He said if we didn't help him, he would kill the whole family! That man is powerful and influential, so we couldn't defy him."

"How dare he?" Lacey said angrily.

Adeline looked at Millie coldly as she continued to fabricate.

Lacey didn't understand these twisted tales and was misled by Millie.

But Adeline wouldn't believe this story.

"Aunt, rest assured, that man has been arrested now," Adeline said, not wanting Lacey to worry.

Lacey breathed a sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear. Well, let's eat. We can discuss everything after dinner. Otherwise, the food I prepared with care will get cold."

After saying that, she led Adeline and Millie to the dining table.

"Auntie, do you have any glasses?" Millie brought out a bottle of red wine. "I specifically brought a good bottle of wine today to apologize to Adeline."

"No, thank you," Adeline declined immediately. "I don't drink, Auntie, you shouldn't either."

Adeline didn't know if Millie had put some drug into the wine.

Lacey hesitated and looked at Millie, but she ultimately decided to listen to Adeline and didn't fetch any glasses.

Millie wasn't upset and put the wine away, then served Adeline a bowl of soup, saying earnestly,

"Adeline, I know l've made mistakes and done foolish things. It's normal for you not to trust me. But I genuinely came to apologize to you. I hope that we can get along in the future."

Adeline looked at Millie's face and suddenly smiled.

"Sure," Adeline said. "Since you've apologized, I won't hold onto the past."

Millie asked in surprise, "Really"

Adeline smiled on the surface, but her eyes were cold.

She just felt that Millie was acting strangely and wanted to see what trick she was playing.

After all, they had grown up together, and Adeline knew Millie very well. How could she not see through Millie's facade?

Even if she feared Harrison and came to apologize, she wouldn't be this "sincere," especially facing her cold expression without any anger.

This was unlike her style.

So Adeline simply pretended along with her to see what Millie was plotting.

"You are so magnanimous. Take the soup," Millie said, picking up her own bowl and clinking it against Adeline's before drinking it

all.

Seeing this, Lacey was delighted and said cheerfully, "There's no grudge among family members. Adeline has always been sensible.

Millie, you shouldn't be so willful anymore. Adeline is the only sister you have, and you should treat her well."

"Yes, Auntie," Millie obediently replied. "I will definitely get along well with Adeline in the future."

Adeline smiled coolly, lowering her head to eat.

Throughout the meal, Millie kept chattering, and Adeline listened to her with disgust, even though Lacey's cooking was good, she found it tasteless.

After dinner, Adeline wanted to chat more with Lacey.

Millie lingered and didn't leave.

Until Adeline's displeasure was evident on her face, Millie stood up and said, "Auntie, Adeline, I'll leave now."

"Okay," Lacey escorted her to the door. "Be careful on your way home."

Once Millie left, Adeline immediately pulled Lacey aside and said, "Auntie, don't talk to her in the future."

Lacey was puzzled. "But you just…"

"I was pretending," Adeline said with a stern face. "I won't believe anything she says again, and neither should you. We grew up together. I know what she's like. She's definitely up to no good."

"But what should we do now?" Lacey held Adeline's hand with concern. "She has gone too far. Even if you're not blood-related, you've lived together for so many years. How could she harm you?"

"She and Janiyah never treated me like family," Adeline said.

"They've always bullied and humiliated me since we were kids.

As for Mateo, I haven't considered him my dad for a long time. I won' t force you to cut ties with them, but I hope you'll be more

careful. And if they ask you to find me again, please don't agree."

"I understand," Lacey sighed.

"Your dad is such a jerk. How could he conspire against you with someone else? Even if..."

At this point, Lacey seemed to realize something, and her face changed abruptly. Then she stopped talking.

"What's wrong, Auntie?" Adeline asked in confusion.

"Nothing," Lacey replied, her face returning to normal.

She had almost let slip.
