One night stand with my president(chapter 48)

Chapter 48: She Deserves It

Kaylie couldn't compete with Harrison.

No one could compete with Harrison.

Finally, he outbid everyone for this sapphire necklace.

Carla heard people discussing.

"Didn't they say the Thomson family was interested in a marriage alliance with the Hickman family? Why is Mr. Thomson competing with Ms. Hickman?"

"That just shows Mr. Thomson doesn't care about her at all."

"Then who do you think Mr. Thomson bought this necklace for?"

"It definitely isn't Ms. Hickman. If he wanted to give it to Ms. Hickman, he wouldn't need to compete with her."

"Then it must be Ms. Hensley.."

Kaylie's expression grew even more unpleasant.

Carla quickly whispered to her, "Kaylie, don't listen to their nonsense. Maybe Mr. Thomson bought this necklace for Myra?"

Kaylie sneered.

Carla herself probably didn't believe what she was saying.

But that was fine.

Kaylie would let Adeline enjoy her moment for now.

Sooner or later, she would put Adeline in her place.

Kaylie thought, "Want to compete with me? Daydreaming."

Adeline returned to her seat.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

Anyway, she was accompanying Harrison at the party, which counted as her working hours.

She couldn't be moody during work hours.

The host on stage was enthusiastically introducing the auction items, but she didn't absorb a single word, her mind filled with Harrison's words.

In his eyes, she was just a frivolous woman, so if she got bullied, it was her own fault.

If Harrison found out that the woman from that night was her, he would probably look down on her even more.

A bitter smile tugged at Adeline's lips.

After enduring until the end of the reception, Adeline silently followed Harrison into the car.

At the door, she encountered Joyce.

Joyce had planned to go home with Adeline, but seeing Adeline's demeanor, she felt something was off. Harrison was nearby, so Joyce didn't dare to approach and disturb them, just watching as Adeline and Harrison got into the car together.

Joyce thought, "What's going on with those two? Did they have a quarrel?"

Just then, a voice sounded behind her. "Ms. Aguirre"

Joyce didn't notice at first, as her surname wasn't actually Aguirre, so she didn't realize someone was calling her.

It wasn't until the person behind lightly tapped her shoulder that Joyce snapped out of it.

She quickly turned around and saw Sam standing behind her. She forced a smile and asked, "Oh, Mr. Juarez, sorry, I was lost in thought just now."

"No worries," Sam replied. "I've sent your camera for repair. It won't be fixed tonight. How about you leave me your contact information? I'll let you know once it's fixed."

Hearing this, Joyce felt a bit nervous.

She was afraid Sam might hold this against her later.

But she couldn't bear to lose her precious camera.

Joyce reluctantly took out her phone and dialed the number on Sam's business card.

“Here's my number. Please call me once the camera is fixed. And t'll return your camera to you then."

"No need," Sam smiled. "I caused you so much trouble today, consider the camera compensation from me."

Joyce paused for a moment, then replied, "That's not necessary. Fixing the camera would be compensation enough. I'll return the camera to you."

If it were an ordinary camera, she might have accepted it.

But with such an expensive camera, she couldn't feel at ease owning it.

Sam nodded in response and asked, “It's quite late now. Should I drop you off at home?"

Joyce quickly declined, "No, thank you. Someone is coming to pick me up."

In fact, no one was coming to pick her up. She planned to take a taxi home. But she couldn't let Sam drop her off.

"Okay."

With that, Sam left.

Watching him leave, Joyce breathed a sigh of relief, but then she worried about Adeline.

Adeline and Harrison seemed to be in a fight.

She thought, "Nothing serious has

happened, right?"

On the way back to Shurford Residence, Adeline stared out of the window the whole time, not saying a word to Harrison.

Harrison, too, remained silent, tapping his index finger on his leg.

Even the driver sensed that something was wrong. He drove silently, not daring to make a sound.

The car pulled into Shurford Residence and stopped downstairs at Adeline's home.

Adeline politely thanked Harrison, "Thank you, Mr. Thomson, for driving me back."

Hearing her tone, Harrison was filled with frustration.

Harrison thought, "Why does she always sound so formal? She never talks like this to Russell."

Without saying anything, Harrison watched as Adeline got out of the car and left.

Seeing Adeline enter the building, the driver cautiously asked,"Mr. Thomson, should I leave now?"

Although it seemed like a redundant question, based on his keen intuition, he felt that Harrison didn't seem ready to leave immediately.

Indeed, Harrison said, "Wait a moment."

"Yes, sir."

The driver sat silently in the driver's seat.

Harrison, too, remained silent, but his mind was racing.

He couldn't stop thinking about the things he had said to Adeline. He had crossed a line.

But every time he wanted to apologize to Adeline, he couldn't shake the image of Adeline standing intimately with Russell.

He couldn't help but wonder if Adeline had gone to the restroom or to meet Russell

How well did they know each other?

Harrison recalled a few months ago when the Thomson Group had collaborated with the Hunter Group.

Adeline and Russell had exchanged a few words. But it was all work-related. At that time, Harrison hadn't noticed anything amiss about them. But tonight, in the corridor, they acted so intimately. Perhaps it was the dim lights giving off an intimate atmosphere, but Harrison couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

And Russell's gaze toward Adeline wasn't exactly pure.

Thinking this, Harrison began to question his own sanity.

Even if there was something between Adeline and Russell, what did it matter? He couldn't stop his subordinates from falling in love with others.

But Adeline was his chief secretary. It wasn't appropriate for her to get too close to

executives from other companies during her tenure.

That was why he was upset.

Harrison decided to go up and clear things up with Adeline.

First, he wanted to tell Adeline that she needed to keep her distance from Russell.

Second, he had to apologize for his insensitive words.

With these thoughts, Harrison got out of the car and took the elevator upstairs.

Soon, he arrived at Adeline's door and pressed the doorbell. The door opened, and upon seeing him, Adeline looked surprised, then her face showed a complex expression.

"Mr. Thomson?"

Harrison was about to speak when he noticed two suitcases in the living room.
