One night stand with my president(chapter 37)

Chapter 37: Harrison's Mock

Perhaps she could use this opportunity to get Adeline away from Harrison.

Before Harrison could speak, Myra said, "Since Ronan just joined the company, he needs someone competent to assist him.

Harrison has plenty of people around him and can spare a secretary. How about letting Ms. Hensley assist Ronan for now?"

Just as she finished speaking,

Harrison said, "I can't."

"What?" Myra was taken aback.

"I need Ms. Hensley by my side," Harrison said calmly.

Myra found his response exasperating and amusing. "What's gotten into you..”

"Alright," Lorenzo chuckled, "Ms. Hensley has been with Harrison for so long. He's used to having her around. Suddenly asking her to leave would upset him. Let's forget about this matter. Ronan, I will find another capable person for you when the time comes."

Hearing this, Ronan pursed his lips, feeling somewhat disappointed.

But since Lorenzo had said so, he dared not say more. If he angered Harrison, he might find himself in trouble.

Lorenzo glanced at Harrison, looking thoughtful.

At that moment, a servant approached and said, "Ms. Hickman has arrived."

"Please let her in," Myra said eagerly.

Shortly after, Kaylie entered the hall carrying several gift boxes.

She had brought gifts for several seniors of the Thomson family, and Myra was delighted, unable to contain her happiness as she held Kaylie's hand.

Lorenzo, however, remained nonchalant.

"Let's get dinner served."

Although the seniors of the Thomson family lived in the ancient mansion, they didn't dine together unless it was for a family gathering or a special occasion.

So, this dinner consisted of just the five of them.

During dinner, Myra deliberately had Kaylie sit next to Harrison.

However, Harrison said to Ronan, "Come sit here.

"What?"

Ronan was puzzled but dáred not disobey Harrison's command, so he obediently walked over and sat beside him.

Kaylie showed no signs of displeasure, sitting down next to Myra and engaging her in casual conversation.

As the conversation between the two women progressed, it moved to topics like clothes, jewelry, and handbags. Kaylie mentioned that a brand from overseas had just released a new line of bags, not yet available for sale, but she had friends who could obtain them, and she wanted to give one to Myra.

Myra didn't need another handbag, but she was happy with Kaylie's kindness.

At that moment, Harrison casually remarked, "Looks like Ms. Hickman has many friends.”

It was the first thing he had said to her since she entered the Thomson family.

Kaylie's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained a faint smile.

"Yes, l've always been well-liked."

"Your friends seem to bring back quite a lot for you from overseas," Harrison said.

When she heard this, Kaylie's smile froze on her face.

However, she quickly regained her composure before anyone noticed

"Do you also have things you want to buy from overseas?" she asked.

Harrison smirked, "No. I find them too dirty."

"Harrison, what are you saying?" Myra frowned slightly.

"It's alright, Myra. Mr. Thomson is just joking," Kaylie said, very understanding.

in truth, her heart was in turmoil.

Harrison wouldn't make such a remark without reason.

Kaylie thought, "He must know something.

Thinking back to that evening, Kaylie felt incredibly regretful.

If her mother hadn't called, insisting that Kaylie go to the hospital, and if she hadn't been preoccupied with her maternal family's assets, Kaylie and Harrison might already be together.

But now, she had no relationship with Harrison at all. If Harrison found out what she had done that night, how would he react?

Because of this, Kaylie wasn't in the mood to linger with the Thomson family. After dinner, she took her leave.

Myra knew Harrison wouldn't see Kaylie off, so she accompanied Kaylie to the entrance of the mansion.

"Myra, it's getting chilly.

Please go back inside," Kaylie said.

Myra smiled and said, "Kaylie, Harrison has always been like that. I can't quite understand his personality either. If he says something that upsets you, don't take it to heart."

"Don't worry, Myra. I wouldn't take it to heart," Kaylie whispered. "It's just... I'm always worried he might misunderstand me because of what others say."

"What do you mean?" Myra frowned slightly.

"I'm just being cautious," Kaylie said. "After all, I've had unpleasant interactions with Ms.

Hensley, and since Ms. Hensley is someone he trusts, I think.... But maybe I'm just overthinking.”

Myra smiled and said, "Don't worry Her identity can't compare to yours. If Harrison were to misunderstand you because of her, I would stand up for you."

Kaylie's face lit up with a smile. "Thank you, Myra."

Meanwhile, Harrison was chatting with Lorenzo in the backyard.

When the topic turned to company matters, Lorenzo said, "I remember the last time I saw Ms. Hensley was over a year ago, right?

Invite her over to the house sometime."

"Why did you want to see her?" Harrison asked.

A hint of amusement flickered in Lorenzo's eyes as he said, "Look at you, protecting her so fiercely. What? Are you afraid I will gobble her up?"

Harrison remained silent. Lorenzo continued, "I understand your mother's idea. She wants to find you a proper lady. But in my opinion, family background isn't important. As long as she's a good person and you like her, that's enough."

"Grandpa," Harrison sighed helplessly, "can we drop this? I don't have anyone I like right now."

"Alright, you don't," Lorenzo said indulgently. "But just bring Ms. Hensley to meet me in a while."

"I know," Harrison replied.

As they left the backyard, Harrison bumped into Myra.

"Mom, go to bed early," Harrison said and tried to leave, but Myra quickly stopped him.

"Stay right there."

He had no choice but to halt his steps.

Myra asked, "Why don't you let Ms. Hensley assist Ronan?"

"Why should I give my person to someone else?"

"Ronan is your brother. Does he count as someone else?" Myra said. "Besides, women like her, who secretly take money behind your back, aren't trustworthy. If she tells you something, I advise you to think twice before believing her."

Harrison's expression darkened.

When Myra said so, he knew Kaylie had definitely said something to her just now.

Perhaps even if he told Myra about Kaylie drugging him, Myra wouldn't believe him.

Kaylie was really something else, repeatedly testing his patience.
