Chapter 33: He Ate Them All
It was no wonder that Sam noticed a little box, especially since it was pink, so pink and delicate, completely unlike Harrison's style.
As Sam was about to lean over to look, Harrison immediately picked up the little box and put it in the drawer.
Sam's eyes widened in surprise.
"Hey, it's just a box, why are you guarding it so closely? You won't even show me. Wait a minute, could it be a gift from a woman?"
Harrison remained silent. Sam continued to ramble to himself, "Let me think, a woman who could give you something... Oh, I know, it must be Ms..."
"Shut up," Harrison coldly interrupted him, "The matter is settled. You can leave now."
"Come on, I just got here and you're already kicking me out?" Sam said.
Harrison wanted to kick him away.
"Are you busy today? If not, let's have lunch together at noon," Sam suggested. "Invite others too.
I heard The Charm has launched a few new dishes. Let's go try them?"
"Okay." Harrison didn't refuse.
"Great, is Ms. Hensley coming with you?" Sam asked cheerfully.
Harrison didn't respond and just gazed quietly at him.
Sam felt uneasy under his gaze and quickly raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, I won't ask anymore. You keep busy. I'll go.
The Charm, at noon, see you there."
With that, Sam turned and left.
After he left the office, Adeline politely stood up and said, "Mr. Juarez, take care."
Others usually addressed Sam as "Master Juarez," and Adeline followed the flow. But she called him "Mr. Juarez" in the office, sounding more formal.
Sam sighed, "Ms. Hensley, why are you always so polite to me?"
Adeline didn't respond, just smiled politely.
Sam shifted his gaze and said, "I've always considered you a friend, so don't be so formal with me. You've given things to Harrison, right? How about giving me some?"
Adeline was a bit shocked for a moment.
However, considering Sam was Harrison's childhood friend, it was no surprise that he would come across what she had given.
After a moment of thought, Adeline said, "I have some cookies here. Would you like to try?"
Sam thought to himself that it was indeed a gift from Adeline, and she even gave him cookies.
Wait, cookies?
A puzzled expression crossed his face.
He had just seen that Harrison's box was empty.
Did this mean Harrison ate all the cookies Adeline gave him?
They grew up together, and he knew that Harrison had stopped eating these things since they were six.
But he ate all the cookies Adeline gave him.
"Mr. Juarez?" Adeline noticed Sam's expression and was a bit puzzled. "Is everything Okay?"
Sam came back to his senses and smiled, "I'm fine. Ms. Hensley, you carry on. I'm leaving."
With that, he glanced at Harrison's office door again and turned to leave.
Adeline couldn't shake the feeling that Sam's smile before leaving seemed a bit mischievous.
Why was that?
But she didn't want to dwell on it, so she sat down and continued working.
Meanwhile, outside the Thomson Group, Millie looked at the two security guards in front of her and pleaded desperately.
"Please let me in. I work in the president's office."
Millie was frantic.
She had thought she could ruin Adeline, get Harrison to kick Adeline out of the Thomson Group, and take her place.
But now, she couldn't even get past the doors of the Thomson Group.
"Sir, I'll be late for work and they'll deduct my pay. Will you compensate me?" Millie said with a joking tone, though her face was stern.
One of the guards replied coldly, " Sorry, we've received orders not to let you step foot inside the Thomson Group."
"Orders? Whose orders?" Millie's eyes narrowed. "Is it Adeline's?"
The guard just said that and ignored her.
Millie continued to plead for a while, but seeing that they still didn't let her enter, she had to turn and leave.
She was outwardly angry but internally panicked.
Last night, after Harrison took Adeline away, they had planned to take Joshua to the hospital, but suddenly a group of people rushed in and took Joshua away.
Judging by their appearance, they were no ordinary people and were most likely Harrison's men.
Millie thought, "What if Harrison, to vent his anger at Adeline, takes me..." She couldn't dare to imagine.
She came to the company today to investigate.
But Millie couldn't even get inside the company.
If Harrison acted against her, she would definitely be powerless to resist, probably not even knowing how she died.
The more Millie thought about it, the more panicked she became. She could only curse Adeline to cover up her inner turmoil.
Just then, a car stopped beside her.
Millie stopped her cursing, turned her head suspiciously, and looked over.
The window rolled down, and Kaylie was sitting inside.
"Who are you?" Millie frowned, asking skeptically.
"We have a common enemy," Kaylie smiled.
"Get in the car. Let's talk."
Millie was cautious, but then she noticed it was a luxury car.
She thought that someone sitting in this kind of luxury car wouldn't be coming to scheme against her.
Millie thought, "Moreover, this woman has just mentioned we have a common enemy. Could it be Adeline?"
Millie's curiosity was piqued, so she opened the car door and got in.
After the door closed, Kaylie instructed the driver. "To the coffee shop."
The driver nodded and started driving. Millie asked, "Who are you exactly? Why are you looking for me? You mentioned a common enemy. Who is it?"
Her barrage of questions annoyed Kaylie.
After all, she was the heiress of the Hickman family and didn't want to be questioned by small fry.
But considering what Millie could do for her, Kaylie suppressed her annoyance and smiled, "My name is Kaylie Hickman."
She deliberately emphasized her status, but Millie hadn't heard of her, so she asked blankly, "And?"
"What conflict do you have with Adeline?" Kaylie countered without answering directly.
Millie's heart leapt.
Millie thought, "She was indeed referring to Adeline as our common enemy."
She thought that being able to afford such a luxury car, Kaylie must be extraordinary.
With such an ally, dealing with Adeline would be much simpler.
Millie thought quickly, fabricating stories of how she had been bullied by Adeline since childhood, and Kaylie seemed to find an outlet and said through her clenched teeth,
"I knew it.Adeline is not a good person. She doesn't deserve to live in this world."
"I worked hard to pass the interview at the Thomson Group, but Adeline tripped me up and got me kicked out. Now I can't even enter the Thomson Group." Millie, with tears in her eyes, said, "Ms. Hickman, what should I do now?"
