One night stand with my president(chapter 23)

Chapter 23: Are You Stupid?

After Camryn left, Adeline packed up her laptop and headed to the conference room.

However, Millie blocked her way, taunting, "Adeline, I know you're up to no good, trying to keep me out of the Thomson Group. But Mr. Thomson personally said I could stay. It seems like you're not that important in Mr. Thomson's eyes."

"Move aside," Adeline said coldly.

Millie's face was full of provocation as she said, "What can you do if I don't? Didn't you see it just now? Mr. Thomson saw me and immediately let me stay.”

Obviously. Adeline didn't want to listen to her chatter, so she interrupted, "Get lost!"

Millie abruptly stopped talking.

She was somewhat intimidated by Adeline's demeanor.

Seeing this, Anna hurried over to Millie and said, "Come with me, I'll take you to your workstation. Ms. Hensley is heading to the conference room now. If she's late, Mr. Thomson will be angry, and everyone in the office will suffer."

Millie had no choice but to step aside.

Adeline immediately walked to the conference room in her high heels without even glancing at her.

"Who does she think she is!" Millie shouted at Adeline's retreating figure.

Anna kindly advised, "Ms. Hensley is Mr. Thomson's chief secretary. Apart from Mr. Thomson, everyone in the office has to listen to her. You'd better not get on her bad side."

"What's there to be afraid of?" Millie sneered. "Mr. Thomson treated me differently just now. With Mr. Thomson backing me up, why should I be afraid of her?"

Anna was at a loss for words.

She looked at Millie speechlessly, thinking she was just being foolish.

After the meeting, Adeline followed Harrison back to the office.

On the way, she couldn't help but say, "Mr. Thomson, Millie isn't suitable for this job."

Harrison replied coldly, "But I think she is. What? Do you want to be my boss now?"

"I didn't mean that."

Adeline didn't quite understand why Harrison insisted on keeping Millie.

She thought she knew him well after being by his side for five years.

But now she suddenly felt like she couldn't read him.

As Adeline was lost in thought, Harrison suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Caught off guard, Adeline collided with Harrison's back.

"Ugh!"

Adeline held her nose in pain, tears threatening to spill.

When Harrison turned around, he saw her pitiful state and asked with a frown, "Are you stupid?"

"I am not." Adeline tried to retort.

She didn't think he would suddenly stop.

Harrison reached out, taking her hand away from her nose.

Her nose was turning red from the impact.

Adeline looked a bit pitiful and funny.

Harrison smiled lightly.

But soon he returned to his coldness.

However, that momentary gesture didn't escape Adeline's notice.

She thought, "Was he laughing at me just now?"

Sensing Adeline's plaintive gaze, Harrison felt his mood improve a bit. He let go of her hand and said, "You're in charge of the executive office. If you think someone is not suitable, then lecture them."

He didn't care who served as an assistant.

He was just a bit angry with Adeline and deliberately went against her.

But now, seeing Adeline's red nose, his annoyance dissipated somewhat.

Adeline wanted to say that some people were rebellious.

But she restrained herself and just nodded.

Harrison stared at her, suddenly remembering what Sam had said to him yesterday.

"Since you like Ms. Hensley, treat her well. Don't always be so grumpy towards her."

"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline's voice brought Harrison back to reality.

When he saw her slightly puzzled expression, Harrison's brain went blank for a moment.

But he quickly said, "Have the advertising department show me the Plan B."

"Okay."

Back in the CEO's office, Harrison went straight into his office.

Adeline noticed Millie heading to Harrison's office with a cup of coffee.

"What are you doing?" Adeline asked coldly.

"I'm bringing Mr. Thomson a drink. What's wrong with that?" Millie retorted. "Adeline, let me tell you, you better be nice to me, or I'll tell your dad you're bullying me at work."

Adeline smirked sarcastically.

She had indeed been heartless when Mateo owed gambling debts before.

But Millie was mistaken if she thought Adeline was afraid of Mateo.

"What's so funny?" Millie rolled her eyes.

"Get out of the way. I need to see Mr. Thomson, and I don' t want to waste time with you here."

"Let me remind you kindly," Adeline said coldly. "Anyone with your mindset has already been fired."

Millie stiffened, then asked with a stubborn neck, "Who are you threatening? Get out of my way!"

Adeline had initially intended to let her face the embarrassment, but seeing the unease of the other workers, she had to stop Millie.

If she angered Harrison, the entire office would suffer.

"Adeline, you...”

Adeline lost her patience and grabbed Millie's cup of coffee.

After testing the temperature, she suddenly splashed it onto Millie's face.

"Ouch! What are you doing?" Millie screamed.

Adeline showed no mercy with the splash, and now the coffee was dripping down Millie's face and head, making her look extremely disheveled.

Thankfully, the coffee was lukewarm.

Otherwise, she might have been scalded.

"Since words don't work, I'll show you the consequences with actions," Adeline said icily. "Get out of my sight. If I catch you near Mr. Thomson's office again, don't blame me for having security throw you out."

"You! Mr. Thomson asked me to stay.”

Adeline turned to grab her water cup from her desk, and Millie, scared, turned and fled.

She rushed to the restroom to clean up, but no matter how much she wiped, the sickly smell of coffee remained on her.

She felt extremely uncomfortable and cursed Adeline in her heart.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was Joshua calling, and she immediately answered, intending to vent her anger. But before she could, she heard Joshua's angry voice. "Millie, did you give me a fake phone number?"

Millie was confused and quickly replied, "No, I didn't."

"Then why hasn't she responded to my messages or answered my calls?"

Millie was sure that Adeline had blocked him.

Feeling irritated by Joshua's anger, Millie suddenly came up with a plan.
