One night stand with my president(chapter 28)

Chapter 28: Don't Be Afraid

The huge noise startled Joshua.

Before he could even turn his head to see who it was, he was forcefully pulled up, and then someone grabbed his hair, causing a sharp pain on his scalp.

"Who the hell dares to touch...”

Before Joshua could finish his sentence, the person behind him slammed his head against the wall with great force.

Joshua's mind went blank, and he couldn't utter a sound.

And it seemed that this person had no intention of stopping, repeatedly slamming his head against the wall several times, each time with great force.

Joshua was powerless to resist and could only endure the beating.

Meanwhile, Adeline managed to free herself from the danger, panting heavily.

She hadn't expected anyone to come to her rescue, let alone that it would be Harrison.

Seeing Harrison Intently on taking Joshua, she  quickly shouted, "Mr. Thomson, don't!"

Honestly, she wouldn't have minded if Joshua had been killed right then and there.

But she didn't want Harrison to break the law because of her.

Harrison, with a sullen look, exuded a chilling aura.

However, upon hearing Adeline's voice, he halted his actions.

After tossing Joshua, who was barely conscious, aside like trash, Harrison walked over to the bed, took off his coat, and draped it over Adeline.

Adeline was still trembling.

Harrison took a deep breath, tried to soften his tone, and then said,"You're safe now. Don't be afraid."

"Mr. Thomson, I... Why did you suddenly...." Adeline's words were disjointed.

Harrison looked at her swollen cheek and said sullenly, "Let me take you to the hospital first."

Adeline didn't refuse. Right now, she just wanted to leave that place as soon as possible.

Harrison gently took her by the shoulders and helped her up,leading her out of the room.

Mateo and Millie were in the living room, and Janiyah had returned as well.

At that moment, the three of them looked pale and trembled in fear.

They dared not even look at Harrison and Adeline, especially Millie.

She couldn't believe Harrison had shown up.

When she heard the knocking earlier, she wondered who would come over so late.

She never expected it would be Harrison.

Under normal circumstances, she would have been overjoyed to see Harrison at her doorstep.

But now, Adeline and Joshua were in the bedroom.

Before she could even speak, she heard Adeline's screams coming from the bedroom.

Harrison's expression changed instantly, and then he strode to the bedroom door and kicked it open, rushing inside.

As Harrison escorted Adeline out, she was wearing his coat, and her pants were intact.

Millie knew that Joshua hadn't succeeded.

Millie thought, "What a waste!"

But the more pressing issue now was how Harrison would deal with them.

From Harrison's demeanor, Millie could see that he cared a lot about Adeline.

Millie felt a mixture of fear and jealousy.

However, Harrison paid them no heed, simply escorting Adeline out.

After they left, Millie quickly rushed into the room.

Seeing Joshua lying unconscious on the ground, blood streaming from his head, Millie screamed in terror.

Things were tricky now.

Harrison escorted Adeline downstairs.

The driver was waiting downstairs, and seeing Adeline's condition, he was taken aback and asked, "Are you alright, Ms. Hensley?"

"I'm fine."

Adeline had calmed down by now.

She said to Harrison, "Mr. Thomson, thank you just now. Could you please take me back to my apartment? There's no need to go to the hospital."

Harrison replied calmly, "Your face and neck should be checked."

Only then did Adeline feel a slight pain in her neck.

She reached up and felt a bit of blood.

It seemed that when she struggled, Joshua had scratched her neck.

"Get in the car," Harrison said again.

At this point, Adeline didn't want to stay alone. So she got into the car with Harrison, and the driver immediately set off for the hospital.

Exhausted, Adeline leaned back in her seat, her mind filled with images of Joshua's lecherous and sinister face, and she still trembled slightly.

The feeling of despair and fear was something that would haunt her for a long time.

At that moment, she felt a warmth on the back of her hand.

Adeline turned her head and saw Harrison's hand resting on the back of hers.

But this time, his action was not at all intimate, only showing care and comfort.

"It's fine now," he said softly.

When she heard his words, Adeline's nose suddenly tingled, and she almost cried.

She forced back her tears and asked, "Mr. Thomson, why did you go to that place?"

She didn't want to use the term "home" to refer to that place anymore.

"Your pen was left in my car,"

Harrison said.

He remembered that Adeline had carried the pen with her for several years. It must have meant a lot to her.

He could have returned it to her at the office tomorrow. But upon reflection, he had the driver return to Adeline's building.

Coincidentally, a lady came out of Adeline's unit just then, and he inquired about which unit Adeline lived in.

He wasn't sure why he went to Adeline's house to return the pen.

Perhaps he wanted her to understand that he was willing to help her.

Or perhaps he wanted to warn her father not to cause trouble for Adeline again.

But regardless, he found himself standing at Adeline's doorstep.

At this moment, he was glad he went.

Otherwise, he didn't dare think about what might have happened next.

Just thinking about what he saw when he burst in made Harrison wish he could tear Joshua limb from limb.

He took a deep breath, suppressed the anger surging in his heart, and took out the pen to hand it to Adeline.

Adeline took it and said, "Thank you, Mr. Thomson."

Her gratitude wasn't just for the pen, but also for Harrison saving her just now.

"It's Okay," Harrison said stiffly.

"You're my secretary. Bullying you is like humiliating me!'

This was his way of explaining his anger.

Adeline lowered her gaze, looking at the pen in her hand, and said with a bitter smile, "It's embarrassing."

She couldn't believe she had been bullied like that in her house.

Her so-called family were outside the room, unmoved by her scream.

She didn't expect help from Janiyah and Millie, but Mateo was her father.

Adeline closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

Adeline sighed inwardly at the irony of the situation.

Harrison replied coldly, "There's nothing embarrassing about it. You shouldn't go back to that place in the future."
